The desire to transfer control by the spirit to rule over the elements is achieved by The Will. The successful process can be accomplished by Merely a rotation of the 5 pointed star. The image of an inverted pentagram creates a mood of mystery. In fact we all begin with the pentagram in the inverted state. We a born carnate. The Spirit trapped in the flesh. What this symbol means is that the elements Earth, Fire, Water, and Air are superior to the quintessence. The guiding force in us is not in control as it should be. Some of these symbols will even display a Rams head. This sign of Aries refers to our brain. The horns on this animal are the horn like structures of the Hippocampus. Some of our creative thoughts can originate in this region. This important information is why the Ares ram is present. The imagination from our thoughts will be used to rotate the pentagram into the proper orientation. This is what is displayed in the Vitruvian symbol. The figure with the arms and legs outstretched means the WOMAN and MAN have the Spirit above the elements. The head of the figure is the symbol of the SPIRIT. The legs and arms refer to the four elements of Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. Some Flags of nations have Stars in their designs. When a ship is in distress. It is customary to inform other ships by flying the colors upside down. Does this not reflect those being controlled by the elements and not making their own decisions?
This explains why TAROT has the property that if the letters were arranged with some Imagination a new meaning takes place. The RO could be placed before the TA. This operation gives ROTAT. The letters spell out a word in a language called Latin. The meaning of rotat is the turning action of a wheel. The word is not a noun but a verb. The stunning effect is that the words TAROT actually imply the verb ROTAT. The noun for this wheel is ROTA. The precise motivation then of TAROT or the function of this mental machine is to turn the mind of the operator. To go from a Carnate state with the pentagram inverted unto a Incarnate state with the pentagram up. The fact that TAROT works shows once again that ART has an effect on our minds. The impact of art on our senses requires our imagination to become active. Regardless of the form of the ART our mind works with the outside world through the sense organs. The establishment of a communicative link through color and shape in the example of the TAROT images demonstrates the power that we possess. We can change an opinion, process complex information from a chart, or realize traits of the inner personality we were not at first aware of. With ART we can bring others minds through time and space. We do this on many occasions. This is why restaurants display ART. WE feel comfortable. If there is a regional style of Cuisine that we often like then we can not exclude that we have an affinity for the ART styles in that region. It is more than the flavor imparted by the individual spices or the combination of taste in a specific dish. A Mango, is a Mango, is a Mango when in season.

The representation of the 5 pointed star. This resembles in the correct order Spirit, Water, Fire, Earth, and Air. These are assigned facing the star on the Tree from the viewer’s perspective. The labels are placed in a clockwise fashion. It is important for the reader to be consciously aware of the Light emanating from the Star. Remember this image as the article is read. It will remind you of WHO you Are. What causes the emotion of Hatred to become enlarged. If a child is separated from a parent for a small length of time this change can occur. Families today are working harder and spending more time away from each other, just to get by, and provide the basic essentials require. The daycare has become a room in a person’s house. I have witness an unusual upsurge in violent behavior of elementary students during their class time. This behavior mutates to rudeness and disrespect to their teachers once in high school. These students all come from families that have both parents working full time jobs. The evidence is overwhelming. A day at three different schools from kindergarden, 3rd, 6th and 12th grade showed me how our mind evolves from such a small change in the environment during the child’s first years of life. Some children may grow up masking the phenotype. It lays dormant. To observers the occasional burst of anger will be chalked up or explained away. The English expression is “That person has a block on their shoulder”. Yet why do we have to be angry to be considered normal? Why does this baseline of behavior have to even exist? A breakup in friendship, relationship, and marriage will be interpreted in the same vein. Such people will have trouble in stabilizing an environment among co-workers. Now it is becoming rare to meet and make a friend who has not succumb to this condition. There may exist a dim memory of earlier outburst of anger or physical abuse of the body. A desire to inflict pain on self, or others. Since the human evolves everyday as the Temple of Solomon is being constructed. We become unable to remember that it even had occurred. That we even considered destructive thoughts seems impossible. That we even hurt our own bodies unthinkable. Or lack the motivation to even try to succeed in a goal. Does this describe anyone on a certain time, once in a certain year? Knowing that their is a cause there is related more extreme forms of this condition where the builders of the Temple are having trouble. It is said that Solomon used the Spirits to build the Temple. This means our thoughts, our emotions, our Will. The power of the will is important in the establishment of any enduring edifice. More so than in any other case the various nerve centers along the spine have to be subdued by the Conqueror (Read YOU in the Upanishads). An overactive adrenal gland on the left kidney (backside view) can result in a destructive behavior. The person going through this wants it to stop. In this case the feeling of abandonment and the memories and the emotions generated on the left side of the body are overwhelming. At this point we are provided the Glory to introduce the function of the left pillar in the Temple of Solomon. It currently is called the Pillar of Severity in texts. The older name is called The Pillar of Strength. This names makes the individual understand immediately what is the function of this Pillar. It is the Power of God (The Creator) TO STOP the Degeneration. Instead of the desire to have excessive wants a limitation ensues. The understanding of neuroendocrinology is in the infancy period. There is a lot to learn. One puzzle still is how does Art help these people. The effective treatment is in the Arts. Increase use of exposing a person to Art. Both by performing themselves and experiencing various kinds of Arts a change results for the Good. We still think in the material trap that thoughts only exist in the mind. Esoteric texts have reminded us that the brain involves the Cerebrum, Cerebellum, and spinal chord. This is a complete package. All of the various components must work in unison. One author, Gurdjieff, describe the process of getting the various minds to perform the jobs they were assigned to do as servants locked in the basement of a mansion. Once there is agreement a chief servant, or gland in this case begins the organization. As the servants get into the routines and explore the rooms of the mansion. The palace will be ready for the return of the Master. The one who controls the Body. That is of course YOU. Justice, Tarot Key 11. This card has elements of Libra, and the spinal column. This is present in the balancing symmetry of the TWO chair posts for the scales of Libra, and the drawn sword for the spinal column. The Tarot key 11 referred to as Justice is the path responsible for the effectiveness of this work. The symbolism is the proper maintenance of the Adrenal glands, heart nerves, and kidneys. A proper solution will involve work on these nerve ganglion. Any therapy to be effective requires relaxation first. This concept is lost among workers. The application of the Art program will not succeed unless a separate regimen of relaxation be initiated. The relaxation must reduce muscle tension. The methodology should involve breathing exercises and meditation. Benefits will be observed immediately. Message, or acupressure, or acupuncture can be employed if their is discomfort from previous injury. In Alchemy key 11 is the process of Sublimation. This results in the weaving of a finer subtler vehicle for the Spirit to function in. The coarser elements in the body need to be refined. This will involve the process of relaxation, breathing, meditating, and of course the application of Art. The Yoga interpretation of Sublimation is the same. The process lifts up the hidden powers of the subconscious and puts them into use to stabilize the life of the person. You become aware of the True Significance of the various combinations of elemental forces. The aspect is to control the oxen rather than allow the animal to be wanton in its activities. This is represented by facial aspect of the figure setting in the chair brandishing the sword. The person controls the ganglion along the spinal column. The spirit is in control not the elements. This path involves the stomach chakra and the heart chakra This gaining of control causes a person to be reflective and not in the desire to act first without thinking. That will be a sign that the Pillar of Strength has been constructed by the thoughts and emotions. There will be a regulatory action in ones behavior. The subconscious is represented by the woman figure. The conscious by the man figure. The goal of achieving equilibrium. The angel represents the superconscious. With the proper adjustment all three components function in harmony. That is what this card represents. You will note that both trees as depicted in Revelations of John are accessible. That is the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of life, This is denoted by the 12 flames for the completed tree. Such a tree has 10 sephera plus 1 door and a star. This means the star at the top of the tree as shown above. It is the source of the Limitless Light. If Sut is the opener then who is the closer? A reader has asked this question. These concepts may at first seem distant they are in fact the clues to how your thought processes work. When we look at the path of the physical Sun with our Eastern Face (Location of our eyes, nose, ears, mouth) we can describe a typical day regardless if we observe the Sun. We take for granted that it exists. Why? Our senses which connect to our Etheric Body respond to changes in the Physical Body. We have a duality of worlds. A place on the Earth and a place where our thoughts exist. This shows that in order to make sense of ourselves and our surroundings that we need the Sun. It also reveals that our mental activities can involve more than just what appears in front of us. The tendency to get caught up in the world does not imply the higher mental states. Too much activity with daily chores makes us forget why the Sun exist in the first place. A day begins with the crescent sliver of light appearing at the horizon. This is meant by the role of Sut. This entity initiates the day. Our ability to detect through our senses is represented by the Hebrew character Ayin (see figure below the photo of the sun). This "represents" to See with our senses. The pair of yods (dots) represent the image of a pair of sense organs. They can mean more than just a a pair of eyes as in the literal sense. It really means to partition the outside world from your thoughts. The demarcation between your Physical and your Etheric worlds. This ability to sense allows the detection of the presence of the Phosphorous Spirits of Wisdom on the Sun. In order for a day to exist there must be a period of darkness. This is the period of day and night. The entity responsible for the closing out of the day is Horus. AS the Sun ascends and as the Sun sets, the appearances are different. Yet it is the same Sun to our scientific instruments. The difference in elevation as the majestic orb climbs up and down is the same. Regardless of these apparent facts a painting of a Sun Set can be distinguished from a Sun Rise. Horus is the guardian of the western skies. In our body the West is the spinal column and the Treasured chord therein. When we speak of our body there is indeed more obviously. Our bodies are polarized just as a Night and Day are. WE have different ways to sense our position with respect to our Earth. The top of our head differs greatly from our feet. Even our head does not turn 360 degrees. This would provide a way at increasing our ability to sense more phenomena. Therefore we can imagine that two aspects of the Sun will involve two pairs of entities just as their are a pair of sense organs. Two Eyes, Two Nostrils, and Two Ears. This means Sut and Horus travel with the Sun. In the Eastern sky we have the domain of Sut. The Opener performs the ritual. During the day both Sut and Horus travel with the Sun. We experience these Three Entities for it is not only an external process appointed only for the poets. At the setting of the Sun in the West the beginning of Twilight is observed. Now it is time for Horus to assume the domain of the Western Kingdom. This seemingly rhythmic ritual goes on. To the point of creating a hypnosis. Can you understand why such an event occurs? As common as this seems and thus because of the way our senses are constructed, seems uninteresting. We are lulled into the Trap of saying so what? Look upon those Tarot keys you may still presume have nothing to do with psychology yet many still flock to have a reading of the future. Look closely at the figures. You will observe there is always three figures. A Sut, A Horus, and A Sun. They may at times look like a Moon, a Dog, or a Statue. What portent do these cards have for you? Why they are your subconscious self-conscious, and superconscious. These cards reveal the structure of the brain’s organization. You must ask yourself an Esoteric Question: What does the Sun look like at Midnight? The Sun does not go away it is still at Her spot. The Earth moved showing a Day in another location. The path of The Star represents the Sun of Midday The path of Death represents the Sun of Midnight, in the underworld The Sun represents the influence of Chokmah (The Star Universe) upon Tiphereth The 7 yods represent the Solar influences following through the Air Children (Fire and Air) stand upon Water and Earth. They are subconscious (Inferior-element) and self-conscious (passive-element). Some versions show the girl standing in water, and the boy standing on land. This duality is the source of the terms White and Black Magic. The true meaning is never understood. This is envisioned in the chariot with the two Sphinxes. Exhibiting a point of inversion in the coloring of the black and white lines. Note the reins are not observed to the physical senses. This is portrayed as the mind. Also be observant that the buildings destroy the symmetry. Ask yourself what hebrew letters these structures represent.
We know or at least are aware of what an anagram is. The English word Lived....has a significance to all physical beings on the Earth. By rearrangement of the letters we will learn a great deal about ourselves. A permutation of the letters l, i, v, e, d into d, e, v, i, l can produce a new word. It is devil. What is this word’s connection with the mind, body, soul, and spirit? The worldly sensations produced by nerve vibrations make us forget our origins and our purpose. WE Long to be present on the earth. The Egyptian Hieroglyphics talk to us of an underworld. Early translators for public consumption did little to explain the meaning of this term. The word refers to the physical world. The Buddhists call this place the flowery world for a reason. It is in fact temporary. We are here for a reason. We also have a place to go when we leave. Living in this world makes us sleep. We forget our home, and our origins. What of purpose? Goethe wrote a simple comedy called Faust in 1802 about bioremediation of polluted lands. The concept was about cleaning up the environment. To make the play entertaining and to teach some rather important lessons for the audience a love story, and a villain was introduced. Such a combination turns the play into a multiple ring circus. To follow all of the plots becomes confusion to the conscious self. Yet the subconscious and the superconscious becomes intently interested. It is for those members of the audience that the play was intended. For they have the ability to see. In the play a minor character name Mephistopheles requests that the major character Faust sign a contract in blood. This precious liquid of life was to come from the arm of Faust himself. Doctor Faust jests thinking to sign a document in his own blood is a bit silly. Like something of a superstition. Would not a mental thought suffice? Just a verbal statement? The procedure ask of Faust sounded too dramatic as if we were trapped on stage and a audience was watching a conversion between ourself and our body. Who would believe such a thing were possible in the Theater of the mind? The character demanding this absurd request became angry and adamantly proclaimed again the importance of his request. Blood is a very special fluid. - Mephistopheles Why should the Devil be concerned with trying to own something that is already in the domain of the Devil? We do not consider blood to be separate from the body. The words to describe life involve Body, Spirit, and Mind. What of Blood? Does it have any significance to the conversation? Apparently the rivers that contain this sacred material are not in the body’s province. Despite the fact that the tissues of the blood vessels and the red blood cells are somatic. They are produced by the body. What then is located in blood which the body does not have control of? The entity is known as the Monad. The play points out a clue that the blood possess the location of an occult entity known as the Monad. It is from this that the often talked about ego resides. In diagram form. One can see a trinity relationship. In this way one can begin to understand what the trinity actual means and how it relates to our thought patterns. The ego is compose of the Monad. The ego provides the body with locomotion and animation. Without the ego the body becomes lifeless. How do we know this was the intent of the author? The actor’s lines give it away. Despite many analysis it has been overlooked. Studies of Faust have always focused on the machine aspects of the physical world. This includes the lighting, the props on the stage, the cobwebs, laboratory flasks containing colored liquids, and many dusty books. Let us learn from the representative of the physical body why Blood is so highly coveted. Sign your name to the pact with your blood. If once I have your name written in your blood, then I can hold you by that which above all sways a person; then shall I have drawn you over to myself. - Mephistopheles In magic the concept of holding an entity is to have temporary control. It is called binding. Solomon also used this method to obtain the aid of the spirits in building his Temple. Binding is the act of convincing the conscious self to achieve a desired goal. Otherwise it would seem unreal and be dismissed by the self as a trick. The result would be procrastination. The binding function is a dramatic process to let the conscious be aware of the intent of the will. Why should the body desire control of what it cannot control? What really is going on in the play of Faust? The plot teaches us that we posses something of great value except we may not think so. For some if we knew what lies within us we would still feel a dull willing to give it up.....if given the chance. Unaware of what we would truly lose. The control of the ego would give the body immortality which is a property of the soul. By falling in love with the world and not understand your purpose there is the pull to help the body achieve its own desire. We learn of our potential when we wake up. Until we wake up, or to help us wake up we are surrounded by reminders in story, picture and song of who we are. This fact is taught to us in sayings. A Chinese idiom describe a foolish person who after purchasing a beautiful ornate box discovers that it contained a rare, and exquisite large pearl. This pearl was perfectly smooth and shined even without light. Yet the man returned the pearl to the shop where he purchased the item. The fool kept the box instead. Hearing the story one is bemused. In China people understand this fool to be silly. Since everyone knowns they would never give up the pearl....If they themselves owned such a gift......Think about it! Again this idiom is simply the story of Faust in new clothes. We are discussing the body mind dilemma. We praise the body yet forget what the body houses. We focus on appearances and forget about our thoughts. We care more about beauty than of our personality. Again this lesson is presented in the Portrait of Dorian Grey, and the story of the dog who drops the prized bone into the river when gazing at the dog’s own reflection. The concept of the body’s image is repeated even in this story. Gazing upon a reflection is an ancient description of how the body, soul, and spirit are related by a series of reflections in a special water. It is interesting that the concept to praise the body often is associated with the belittling of spiritual events. Striking a balance is important. There is nothing wrong with grooming and exercise as well as feeding your spirit with mental and bodily attention. If one were to ask why the arts are continually offering us these lessons we would be at a lost to provide an explanation. Only through observation we can see a trend that people who train often tend to be seduced by the body. A memory aid such as a song, painting, or drama can be just as useful to our being as a weight, jogging, or even breathing exercises. Yet in all dramas and comedies the characters portray emotions. They are never intended to be people that you are familiar with. The family and friends you go to together with are not on the stage. They are in the audience. This must be remembered by the reader. This is why Faust behaves like it is some elaborate joke. He knows the body can never control the soul. What then does Faust want of the body? Contrary to the impressions from spectators of the audience. This comedy I assure you, provides us with some valuable information. We in our day to day activities find ourselves doing what Faust does. It is not as lampooned as in the play. The play does this to instruct us of our harmful ways. We make packs with the body frequently forgetting who should be consulted, namely the Spirit. Instead our first contact partner is our old buddy the body. We make promises. They range from “If I lose 4.5 pounds, I will treat myself to a steak and potato dinner.”, “I may tell my friend that from now on we will be vegan.”, “If I pass this exam I will have one beer.” This is of course a small goal.....We see ads and tell ourselves the importance of eating healthy. We think in terms of what effect food will have on the body, never on our thoughts. No one would think that these activities are in any remote way a pack with the devil. Many would even refute it as a possibility, to hide the perception that this fact was revealed to them just now. A child can easily see that making promises with yourself is of course an agreement with Mephistopheles. After all the play was written especially for the advance conscious states. That is the role and purpose of the Arts. To address knowledge for the Trinity. The devil is reviled in many cultures or falsely praised by some misguided folks. Yet none of them are aware they are talking about the body. This is also why we tend to punish the body by depriving it sleep and food to achieve our imagined goals. The key to accomplishment is not to give any sacrifice to any of the parties involved. Faust knew this. To please the body he injures the body. Of course on stage it is all fake. The pen knife is dull. The punctured skin is rubber sack filled with the precious blood. So is the blood inside, fake!!!! It is made from a concentrated sugar water solution with a red dye added for the effect of color. What then is the solution to obtain what we want? The real directions which the Artists are pointing to is balance. In our daily lives we work with two Trinities. These are Body, Mind, Spirit. That is one type of Trinity. The other type is one we use all the time, but ignore their names. Conscious, Subconscious, and Supraconscious, they sound foreign. To achieve balance the actors are teaching us we must invoke land reclamation. What is this? Why in the plot of Faust there is this absurd business of selling land that is polluted? Does it have any significance to the story? This is what your conscious mind is telling you. The Artists have a few tricks up their sleeves. They have been dealing with the Trinity for a long time. What then is this poor land that needs to be reclaimed? The object of Faust is for the audience to rebuild the body mind connection. The city is a metaphor for the body. It is mentioned in the books: Revelation of John and Ezekiel. In Egyptian the city was translated to mean Field of Stars. The glands and organs of the body are these stars. In the play the act of reclaiming land through the removal of water again has a unique parallel. That of a flood that caused a sea to engulf a land. A flooded plain that would need the pumping away of the sea. This water in Faust is a metaphor for consciousness.
Ever wonder why the alchemist laboratory is filled with dusty books bigger than a person’s hand? Why there is always elaborate apparatus and vessels filled with strange liquids. Often paintings show a model of the human anatomy in the corner. What can possibly all this mean? A bit of comedy relief is introduced in Goeth’s play on Faust. It is from the lines delivered by the court astrologer the audience of the play is introduced to some very important concepts in alchemy. Mars won’t harm his strength won’t last. Mars is used by the ancients to purify the ego of its illusions. The effervescent complexes that are not of the personality. They make one seem mercurial in mood. They are not you. The role of Mars is commanded through the prostatic ganglion in the lower part of the body. By focusing on this organ the mind can remove the false identities that inhibit our growth and ability to succeed. Our addictions to poisons have their root in these volatile impurities. The sense here is that the mind and body will not suffer their loss as they are unreal to ourself. Their is no fear of losing self. Mars achieves the victory of the mind and body. This false anxiety is a fetter than binds our minds in slavery. Once freed rejoice is possible. While Saturn’s great, but far away and slight. His metal we don’t greatly venerate, Light of worth, though leaden in its weight. This is a cipher. Saturn’s metal lead is the gland known as the Sacral Plexus. The word Sacred is implied in its name. So few realize what great a treasure they possess in their body. Far away and slight implies the gland’s spatial location with respect to the cerebrum. Slight means we don’t pay attention to its actual importance. The play calls attention to the most important organ in the Great Work. The energy of reproduction can be tapped to the creations of the mind. It is for this reason that masons are taught to treasure it in their symbols. Without lead no transmutation is possible. When Sun and Moon are conjoined fine, Silver and gold will make the whole world shine. A great clue to the role played by these two metals and why they must cooperate with each other. This can be achieved once the work of Mars is completed. The lines of the astrologer are written according to the proper steps employed in alchemical procedures. Silver and gold indicate that the Pituitary body and the cardiac plexus have to be coordinated. The astronomical phenomena of star conjunctions is note a mere coincidence. There is a physiological correspondence for glands in the nervous system. Conjunctions in the body have a profound effect on the body chemistry and the way we think. Palaces, gardens proud, and rosy cheeks.... The changes result in observable health on the body. Script of the Astrologer. These are the lines that the actress or actor should read aloud. Let the words vibrate in you. The Sun, himself, he is of purest gold: Mercury, messenger, of riches told: Venus has bewitched you all, and she Looks on you, soon and late, quite lovingly: The chaste Moon’s mood holds fast: Mars won’t harm: his strength won’t last: And Jupiter remains the loveliest sight: While Saturn’s great, but far away and slight. His metal we don’t greatly venerate, Light of worth, though leaden in its weight. Yes! When Sun and Moon are conjoined fine, Silver and gold will make the whole world shine: The rest as well in turn are all achieved, Palaces, gardens proud, and rosy cheeks: All this he brings this highly knowledgeable man: He can deliver, too, what nobody else here can. The alchemists always have a dictionary and an anatomy book when they read. When an alchemist speaks of transmutation the meaning is to change across the glands and organs of the body. A process far more complicated than heating of metallic gold in a crucible. The benefits are better and the rewards far greater. What is magic? You may not know of the long connection that magic shares with psychology. Indeed only recently have scientific publications again have begun publishing papers on collaborations with stage magicians exploring the effects of sight blindness. I said again. Off and on these collaborations have been pursued. The events although recorded are not read by succeeding generations. This is one of the aspects that people do not realize. There exists this public fascination with science, but not with the scientific method. The ignorance of the process results in more difficulties. Is one really understanding of how to propose and experiment and can one really perform the experiment. The ability to measure depends on the ability to detect a change of an event. In medical research for example changes in cytokine concentrations are referred to as a change in level. What are those values and what do they mean? This is not understood. Our level of thought by the public far outweighs what we actually know. A way of helping people would be to educate them of how experiments are proposed and conducted. This makes for bad film. As a director informed me. They need action. If so then bring in a reel to reel tape. At least the device goes round and round. Digital instruments only make electronic noise. A different view of magic was how organisms are affected by the environment and how organisms can make changes on their own environment. It was this study that led to much of our understanding of the physical sciences. Through this work much of what we know today of the mind was and still is achieved. An aspect of science the public is vaguely aware is the study of the scientific literature. Due to the ever increasing desire to partition and create new disciplines the effects cause a weakening of science. It is now understood that in order to understand nature we must examine the environment in terms of several systems. The examination demands changes in the way of isolating everything connected and drawing conclusions. Despite the advances that transistors have brought to the world the concept upon which it is based goes back to the phenomenon known as thermionic emission. That was observed when lightbulbs were made. Knowing this gives an understanding of where progress really is. The fact that a screen can be made to vary resistance or capacitance to touch involves the creation of a conducting polymer. One that can easily be made by anyone who desires to learn. A magician can be wise. A magician can perform wondrous things by manipulating the active and passive powers as they occur in physics and chemistry. A magician involves circumstances such as the actions of nature or of higher intelligence. This can be presented to excite wonderment by their appearances or if desired disappearance. Magic refers to what happens as a result of the powers of attraction and repulsion. This is exemplified by magnetic fields. Magic is the petition or invocation of spiritual powers to achieve a desired effect. The application of will power. The encouragement to do well on an exam. The desire to seek out and obtain a better job. The desire to destroy an addiction, The correction of a bad habit. Magic is the application of methods of breath, and meditation to obtain control of the mind and body. Magic is the study of the occult laws that govern thought. Magic is the practice of the occult laws. What one does with magic corresponds with the Natural Law. The outcomes must be understood. What are the axioms in magic? “magicians take it as axiomatic that, in all the panorama before our eyes, God acts on the gods; the gods act on the celestial or astral bodies, which are divine bodies; these act on the spirits who reside in and control the stars, one of which is the earth; the spirits act on the elements, the elements on the compounds, the compounds on the senses; the senses on the soul, and the soul on the whole animal. This is the descending scale. By contrast, the ascending scale is from the animal through the soul to the senses, through the senses to compounds, through compounds to the elements, through these to spirits, through the spirits in the elements to those in the stars, through these to the incorporeal gods who have an ethereal substance or body, through them to the soul of the world or the spirit of the universe; and through that to the contemplation of the one, most simple, best, greatest, incorporeal, absolute and self-sufficient being. Thus, there is a descent from God through the world to animals, and an ascent from animals through the world to God. He is the highest point of the scale, pure act and active power, the purest light. At the bottom of the scale is matter, darkness and pure passive potency, which can become all things from the bottom, just as He can make all things from the top. Between the highest and lowest levels, there are intermediaries, the higher of which have a greater share of light and action and active power, while the lower levels have a greater share of darkness, potency and passive power.” Giordano Bruno Further Reading
