The Prime Matter according to Martin Ruland* has at least 50 different descriptions. Which of these are necessary to learn? Why are there so many? Alchemy is about changing states. The process of heat has an effect on matter. The names given in the lexicon indicate the steps required and the necessary guides involved in the transformation. *Confer, Martin Rulandus Lexicon Alchemiae A listing of alchemy terms, including some definitions. Published in Frankfurt,1612 English translation A Lexicon of Alchemy translated by A. E. Waite. The original text is in Latin and is also available. The full title is A Lexicon of Alchemy or Alchemical Dictionary containing a full and plain explanation of all obscure words, Hermetic subjects, and arcane phrases of Paracelsus. How to gather a handle about the basic substance known in the literature as the prime matter? Ruland writes "The philosophers have greatly admired the Creature of God which is called the Primal Matter, especially concerning its efficacy and mystery. The application of heat to cinnabar can transform by our EYES a reddish brown stone into a silvery liquid mercury and vapors of sulfur. This is a spectacular feat for the eyes. Processes of the mind will not bear testimony to the senes relaying on miracles in order to proceed or stop any endeavor. The real laboratory work of the alchemist cannot be observed in the same fashion. The stone was known originally by a much different name. The wise call it the Microcosmos. This is a smaller world. Here exists Heaven and Earth along with the elements of Fire, Air, and Water. Also included in this system are birth, sickness, death, dissolution, creation, and resurrection. The Solid Properties Later on a new name was given. This is name of the Philosophical Stone. The reason being that it was made of one thing. In the beginning it is truly a stone. The properties behave similarly to a stone. It is dry and hard, and can be triturated just like a stone. There are of course differences. It is more capable of resistance and more solid. Unlike a stone it is resistant to the effects of the elements. No fire or other element can destroy it. In mining it is necessary to remove rocks. The method called fire-setting was employed. The author of De re metallica (On the nature of metals), Georg Agricola describes this method. The Liquid Properties It is also no stone, because it is fluid, can be smelted and melted. They further call it the Eagle Stone, because it has stone within it, according to Rosinus (This is the Latin name ascribed to the alchemist Ζώσιμος ὁ Πανοπολίτης Zosimos of Panopolis). His era was between the 3rd and fourth century AD. It is also called Water of Life, for it causes the King, who is dead, to awake into a better mode of being and life. It is the best and most excellent medicine for the life of mankind. The Medicinal Properties Venom, Poison, Chambar, because it kills and destroys the King, and there is no stronger poison in the world. Spirit - because it flies heavenward, illuminates the bodies of the King, and of the metals, and gives them life. Medicine - the one most excellent medicine, for it speedily and marvelously heals all of the maladies and infirmities of mankind and of metals. The Celestial Properties Heaven, for it is light and bright, indestructible, and is Heaven in operation. Clouds - for it gives celestial water and rain upon its own earth. Nebula, or Fog - for it ascends from the earth, and makes the air dark. Dew - for it falls from the air and stimulates the soil, together with that which grows upon it. Shade - for it casts a shadow over the earth and the elements, and causes darkness. Moon - for she is in her nature and quality cold and moist; her influence extends to the Under World; she receives her light from the sun; hence she ministers to the time of darkness, by means of the shade of the earth. Stella Signata and Lucifer - the pre-eminent and morning star, for she gives the sign in operations, she shines first, then comes the sun, both evening and morning, which is a marvel to behold. The Alchemical Properties Permanent Water - metallic water of life, leafy water. It remains in fire, air, and earth, and cannot be destroyed by any element. Fiery and Burning Water - for it is exceeding hot, melts up all metals more quickly than fuel and flame, yea, melts that which resists fire. Salt of Nitre and Saltpetre - for it possesses their nature and kind. It also rises with greater strength and violence than any saltpetre whatever. It is, moreover, extracted from the earth. Lye - for it washes and cleans the metals, and the garments of the King. The Sacred Properties Pure and Uncontaminated Virgin - for she remains pure and unimpregnated, notwithstanding that she bears children. She is a most extraordinary mother, who slays her husband and offspring, and revivifies them by means of her breasts. Assidous says: The Mother of our Stone, which is now perfected, is still a virgin, never having reclined in the nuptial couch, because this hermaphrodite and universal matter of the Sun and Moon, has intercourse only with itself, and is not yet impregnated in any special manner, such as the golden, silver, or mercurial process, etc. Consequently it is a pure, virginal birth. Milk of Virgin, or of the Fig, for it renders things sweet, white, delicious, and wholesome. Boiling Milk, for it warms, cooks, whitens, and matures. Honey, for it sweetens, confers a pleasant smell, and renders things delicious and wholesome. A Spiritual Blood - for it is like blood, and so remains, it reddens, vivifies, and has the spirit therein. Bath - for it washes and cleanses the King, and metals, and causes them to perspire. The Healing Properties A Syrup - for it is acid, and produces strength and courage. Vinegar - for it macerates, makes spicy, pickles, renders savory, strengthens, preserves, corrodes, and yields a tincture. Lead, for it is heavy, and is at first impure; gives color and weight. Lead is made from the stone. Tin - on account of its whiteness. Sulphur of Nature, Lime, Alum, for it consumes and burns up. Spittle of the Moon, incombustible saliva. Burnt Copper, black Copper, Flower of Copper, i.e. Ore, as also is the Ore of Hermes. The Serpent, the Dragon, for he devours and destroys. Marble, Crystal, Glass - which is all clear and intelligible. Scottish Gem. Urine of boys, urine of the white calf, on account of its acrid nature. White Magnesia, a Magnet, because it attracts gold, or the King, unto itself. White Ethesia, a white Moisture. Dung, for it manures the earth, which renders it moist, fat, and fruitful. White Smoke, for it renders white and glistening. Metallic Entity-for it is the true Essence and Quintessence of Metals. The Virtue of mineral Mercury. The Soul and Heaven of the Elements. The Matter of all Forms. Tartar of the Philosophers. Dissolved Refuse. The Rainbow - on account of its colors. Indian Gold, Heart of the Sun, Shade of the Sun, Heart and Shade of Gold - for it is stronger than Gold; it holds the gold in its heart, and is itself Gold. Chaos - as it is in the beginning. Venus - On account of the fruitfulness of Nature. Completeness We return to the original meaning of the stone. Microcosmos - because it is a likeness of the great world, through heaven, the sea, and all elements. The Stone Appears in Many Forms, but can be easily recognized. The Blackness is Black. The color of Black is the color of Saturn. The darkness of the souls. This statue is of 惭愧, the words cánkuì translate as Shame. The alchemical properties involve protection, limitation, restraint, and judgement. The Karmic laws are carried out in the sphere of Saturn. The tight relationship to harvest and aeon cycles are the responsibilities of Saturn. The stage of putrefaction is a necessary step. Our Lead is the prima materia. The term father of time is another description for Saturn. The 慚愧祖師 is called the patriarch of the Tang Dynasty. His Full Moon Festival calls forth the preparation for the coming of Spring. In order for Spring to arrive work must be done. One of the names for the stone is Isis. Before these beautiful sculptures were ever made. Long ago in the past a simple black stone was presented. Later inscriptions were chiseled bearing grand titles. Virgini pariturae. I dedicate to. Virgin about to give Birth. Isidi, seu Virgini ex qua fillus proditurus est. Virgo paritura is the Earth before receiving the Sun's rays. Matri deum magnae ideae. The Mother of the Gods. Our Lady Underground. It is important to know the names of stone for it transforms successively. By knowing the name you will understand the process. A name is more than a mere label. Other names of the stone include: Adarner, Adrop, Asrob, Agnean, Eagle, Alartar, Alabar, Aevis Alkaest, Alcharit, Alembroth, Alinagra, Almisada, Aludel, Alun, Abzernad, Amalgra, Anathron, Androgyne, Antimony, Aremaros, Arnec, Arsenic, Asmarcech, Azoth, Borax, Boritis, Caduceus, Cain, Chyle, The Cock, Dragon, Ebisemeth, Embryo, Euphrates, Eve, Feces, Flower of the Sun, Hermaphrodite, Hyle, Infinite, Isis, Kibrish, Laton, Lion, Magnes, Magnesia, Mars, Menstruum, Mother, Orient, Salamander, Sonig, Sulphur, Tincture of Metals, Vapour, Lord of the Stones, The Bull, The Sea, The West, Bird of Hermes, Shadow of the Sun, Philosophical Stone, Animal Stone, Lead, Spring, Vegetable Liquor, The Moon, The Garden, The Spouse, Summer, The Woman, The Son of the Sun and the Moon, Water of Life, Water of Gold, The Belly of the Ostrich, Anger, Butter, May Blossom, Golden Wood, The Tree, Silver, Whiteness, Soul of Saturn, The Lamb. This is an extremely valuable list not only to the researcher, but also to the student. How do you prepare yourself? How do you qualify for the search for the Holy Grail? The author Francis Barrett of the book The Magnus provided some very useful advice. The right frame of mind is essential.
LESSON I. The preparation for this work is simply this:--Learn to cast away from thee all vile affections--all levity and inconstancy of mind; let all thy dealings be free from deceit and hypocrisy; avoid the company of those seeking vanity; hate all profligacy, and profane speaking. LESSON II. Keep thy own, and thy neighbors' secrets; court not the favors of the rich; despise not the poor, for he who does will be poorer than the poorest. LESSON III. Give to the needy and unfortunate what little thou canst spare; for he that has but little, whatever he spares to the miserable, God shall amply reward him. LESSON IV. Be merciful to those who offend thee, or who have injured thee; for what must that man's heart be, who would take heavy vengeance on a slight offence? Thou shalt forgive thy brother until seventy times seven. LESSON V. Be not hasty to condemn the actions of others, lest thou shouldst, the next hour, fall into the very same error; despise scandal and tattling; let thy words be few. LESSON VI. Study day and night, and supplicate thy Creator that he would be pleased to grant thee knowledge and understanding; and that the pure spirits may have communication with, and influence, in thee. LESSON VII. Be not overcome with drunkenness; for, be assured, that half the evils that befall mankind originate in drunkenness: for too great a quantity of strong liquors deprive men of their reason; then, having lost the use of the faculty of their judgment, they immediately become the recipient of all evil influences, and are justly compared to weathercocks, that are driven hither and thither by every gust of wind; so those who drown the reasonable power, are easily persuaded to the lightest and most frivolous pursuits, and, from these, to vices more gross and reprobate; for the ministers of darkness have never so favorable an opportunity of insinuating themselves into the minds and hearts of men, as when they are lost in intoxication. I pray you to avoid this dreadful vice. LESSON VIII. Avoid gluttony, and all excess--it is very pernicious, and from the Devil these are the things that constantly tempt man, and by which he falls a prey to his spiritual adversary; for he is rendered incapable of receiving any good or divine gift. Besides, the divine and angelic powers or essences delight not to be conversant about a man who is defiled, and stinking with debauchery and excess. LESSON IX. Covet not much gold, but learn to be satisfied with enough; for to desire more than enough, is to offend the Deity. LESSON X. Read often these ten preparatory Lessons to fit thee for the great work, and for the receiving of higher things; for the more pure thou art in heart and mind, by so much quicker shall you perceive those high secrets we teach, and which are entirely hid from the discernment of the vicious and depraved, because it never can happen that such a source of treasure can be attained merely to satisfy our more gross, earthly, and vain desires and inclinations, because here nothing must be thought to be grasped, or wrested out of this book, but to the fulfilling of a good end and purpose. When thou shalt have so far purified thy heart, as we have spoken is indispensably necessary for the receiving of every good thing, thou shalt then see with other eyes than thou dost at present--thy spiritual eye will be opened, and thou shalt read man as plain as thou wilt our books; but, for all this, depend not on the strength of thy own wisdom, for even then, when we think our hearts secure, if we do not watch them that they sleep not, the Devil, or his ministers, immediately take us at this unguarded moment, and tempts us into the actual commission of some sin or other: either he excites our appetite for lust and concupiscence, or any other deadly sin; therefore, using our blessed Redeemer's words--"What I say unto you, I say unto you all--watch!" This is again repeated in another form by Paul in Ephesians 3:18 Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. This reminds the reader that higher dimensions are possible provide LOVE is rooted and grounded. What of these words. It calls attention to the mind being anchored in LOVE. This root also tips us to the role of the nerve centers along the roots of the nervous system. A one united mind. With the the transmutation of the metals. In Christ, that is the Gold.

I have a question for the dear reader: What does this cluster of stars have to do with the celebration of Halloween? The image of these stars has been reproduced several times. Another question why was this photographic image made? Still another question why this orientation? When an image is reproduced many times we fall under a spell. We delude ourselves into thinking this is the only orientation possible to display. That is suitable for viewing. Between the months of October and November a cluster of three Holy days were ascribed to the festival of the ancestors. These three days were given the names: All Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls. On these days a celebration involving a fest was required. The insinuation of foods seems to imply that these festivals are tightly linked to the worship of the event of the Harvest. Indeed the Moon appears to the discernment of the mind to be rather extraordinary in her fine gold raiment and facial appearance. Despite our wonder and amazement with astronomy many are ignorant of how stellar phenomena are used to determine when a holiday, festival, and feast is chosen for celebration. When an individual decides to seek this answer a whole new world will open up. To reveal what lays behind the pageantry will unlock yourself. This is a rather inspiring proposition. All that is required is to leave your desire. To seek treasure one must not imagine what is inside the chest for desire can steal away from you the sacred meanings. Let us begin, if you are ready to climb. I have a question what is the deeper meaning of a figure of a lady wearing a hat that resembles an isosceles triangle with a curved brim? Why are the colors black and red? The Greek name of Pleiades is by no means the only name given to this cluster of stars. The Japanese name is Subaru. The Kanji is 昴 and the haragana is すばる 星. The name of these stars has a big impact on varous cultures. This cluster is also associated with Athor-aye. What is Athor mean? By examining the Coptic calendar that name is the third month of the Ancient Egyptian Year. By comparing the other calendar systems the 4th of Hathor (Athor) is Oct 31 in the Julian and it is Nov 13 in the Gregorian. Hathor is variously known as Athyr, Ἀθύρ in Greek, and هاتور Hatoor in Arabic. Among the records of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) there are festivals marking the appearence and disappearence of the Pleiades and the constellation of Taurus. Work at understanding the Mataveri calender can be accessed here. A lighted candle inside a pumpkin with facial features is a reminder of the Great light that shines within us and can shine through our dark features. This light can occur to be experienced even in the darkest night. A divine spirit can still be present amongst all of other thoughts. That is the reason for this ritual. The use of the Jack O Lantern is the guide of our intellect to lead us along the darken ignorance. The carrying of a light among the night visiting places asking for trick or treats illustrates this wonderful deeper purpose. A unique fact about the moon is that the same position will be repeated in 600 years. Esoteric doctrine carves a different meaning to this. Some historians like to point out great changes appear to occur in cycles of 600. In reality the motion of the moon is also shared by all. The exact meaning refers to the journey of the Soul. How the details involve the growth and development of the soul is expressed in the mansions of the moon. You do not need to view a star map unless you have serious interest. If the 78 tarot paintings were arranged in a circle a path of the soul can be observed. This land of the soul is called Naronia. Notice how your impressions and reasoning have changed, then make an image of what these could be. The sweet influences of this cluster require many to wonder. If a greater picture implies the coming of fall and spring then what does this patch of light when viewed have to do with your soul? The seven stars of the Pleiades can be found by seeking out the three stars at the waist of Orion. These are also sometimes referred to as the three kings. The ability to know requires the path of the initiate. Someone to bing about change. The understanding that the action is within the mind not only in the sky requires seeking out the reason behind the sun and moon spending moments in Taurus. At the moment of fall the full moon no longer is present when the sun is above the horizon. This occurs when the full moon is in Taurus and the Sun is in Scorpio. This absence of one luminary and the relentless seeking of the full moon for the sun happens for six months. Once spring occurs the Full moon and Sun reunite again in Taurus. The constellation of Taurus and the three decans describe the resurrection event. This is played out in the festivals. The greater mystery is that the astronomical allegory you may perceive actually is describing the event of the unification of god. The soul ascending from the winter constellations to the spring constellations arrives at the Pleiades first. This represents the canopy of heaven. In the solar myth Osiris is resurrected. This means the triumph over death and the grave. Writers allude to this knowledge, but it is never revealed in detail. This is the reason why the rituals in many lands are very important to continue on. In the Kom ed-Deir hieroglyphics the decans for Taurus involve a figure of a mummy, a pair of eyes, and a standing figure beside a resting ox. These three constellations are called Orion, Eridanus (the "Nile river"), Aurgia (the charioteer). The figure of the mummy is associated with Orion. The orientation of this constellation various during the months. Watch these configurations and draw them. They tell a story. A further reference to study is John 11:1-44. In Egypt of olden days there was a festival of agriculture and the dead. This celebrates the new year and is the third day of the Isia. This is the 19th of November and the event occurs at midnight. The Goddess Isis represented by the Moon is said to wash carefully Osiris (the sun) and then place Osiris into an Ark. The Mystic boat is then placed into the Nile. This river is represented as the constellation Eriandus in the Greek planisphere. The stars are arranged to satisfy the mythology. There is a correspondence with a myth and the constellations. To study a myth requires proper assignment to the heavens. This gives further information about the myth. The parts of the myth therefore relate to constellations since the constellations also relate to YOU. There is within you a smaller version of the universe. In Fiji the God of agriculture is called Ratumalibu. This God spends half of the time on earth causing plants and fruits to form. The other half is spent in the land of the spirits. Since Fiji is in the southern hemisphere the seasons are reversed from the northern hemisphere. The celebration of the Harvest fest in Fiji is the celebration of Spring. Yet the festival occurs at a similar moment and the rituals are the same. At the time of the fall season in Fiji the God must return to the land of the spirits. This is called Bulu ( pronounced Mbúlu ). A cleansing ritual is performed. This should sound familiar as it is in the Myth of the Sun and Moon exemplified by Osiris and Isis. Here it is described that Isis washes the body of Osiris in the Nile river. In Fiji the God Ratumalibu is given a bath before the return. This is a baptism of water. Waters used to clean and wash away allow the God to reconnect to the new medium. It is the concept of water that is a reference for basic thought substance. The origin of thought. This is exemplified by the removal or placing of figures in mythologies. The concept of a fish is associated with Horus. The early Persia had a constellation of a woman with the head of a fish as part of the first Aquarius decan. The southern fish or Piscis Austrinus. The fish is associated with The Word. The Nun ( נוּן ) or fish is found in Egypt. The God Hiruko ( 蛭子 ) was found in a reed boat by a fisherman named Ebisu えびす. Hiruko had been born with no bones, just as Osiris was missing a fragment. The family of Ebisu nursed and raised the child until the bones grew. This is the regeneration. The iconography of Ebisu is associated with a fish. The connection awaits the faithful to understand. Moses was found in the water by the Pharaoh's daughter and was raised by her. The baby Horus was raised by Nephthys. This is the sister of Isis. The Goddess Aphrodite ( Αφροδίτη ) was born in the water when the phallus and drops of blood originating from the Greek God Ouranos ( Οὐρανός ) [Uranus in Latin (heaven) ] fell and made contact with the sea. The regenerative principle of Uranus plus the water gave birth to the Goddess of Love. The implication of water relates to soul thought. The powers of regeneration require the concept of water. How does knowing the stars help with knowing me? The four positions of the zodiac indicate deeper connections. Each is gradual aspect of consciousness that is necessary and required. At the position of the month of September we experience the Leo-Virgo constellations this is the creation of Sensation. In the month of December it is the Sagittarius-Capricorn constellations. This is the center of Emotion. In the month of March it is the Pisces-Aries mark. This is Mind. In June this will be the Gemini-Cancer constellations. This is Spirit. The four arms of a cardinal cross involve the four parts of consciousness which require the proper mixing of Sensation, Emotion, Mind, and Spirit. Therefore each round of the zodiacal cycle results in growth of consciousness. Your consciousness must be renewed. According to the astrology language the soul is conceived in germinal state at the June zodiacal station (Cancer), becomes integrated in a material organism at the September (Virgo) date of the 21, was quickened to life after virtual "death" under the incubus of body at December (Capricorn), and was raised to a new growth in a fresh cycle beginning at March (Aries), under Easter symbolism. This is why the tarot image of the Emperor is assigned to Aries. You will note the horns of a sheep both in the tarot image and the celestial map drawing for Aries below. The day of 21 in the Julien calendar is the change of the zodiac sign. September 21, then, marks the date at which in the significance of zodiacal language the unit of fiery spiritual essence, an emanation of creative Mind from the supreme Deity which is to be the divine soul of man, descending from the heights of noumenal activity toward manifestation in matter, crosses the line from pure mind force into union with a grade of matter that, being attuned to its vibration, it can mold into an instrument of expression of its potential capabilities of life and consciousness. Indeed once you begin to study these festivals of the dead you will begin to see connections to subjects you never thought had any relationships. The dead and resurrection of Osiris is described in a nursery rhyme. The passage begins Old Mother Hubbard Went to her cupboard To get her poor dog a bone; When she got there, The cupboard was bare, And so the poor dog had none. The bone missing in the cupboard is the one fragment Isis could not retrieve among the 14 parts that had been scattered. This is named the Lingham and is an important piece for regeneration. Isis creates and new one to replace the missing fragment. This is one of abilities of the bright fertile mother. The mother spoken of in the rhyme is called the Aima. Her son is revealed to be the second wand. The "u" in the name. This wand carries out the ability to reproduce. The cupboard is the ark that encases Osiris. In the context of the dismemberment of Osiris the number of parts is significant. That number is 14. The ritual of breaking down is observed when the eucharist is torn. That is the same concept described as the solar body of Osiris is cut into 14 fragments. This number repeats itself in many areas. In the case of Isis representing the moon. The number of days beginning with a new moon required until a full moon is observed requires 14 days. From the full moon to the new moon we can observed the fragmentation process. The moon appears to be breaking down. In the tarot one suite of the minor arcana contains 14 cards. There are 4 suits one for each quarter of a Eucharist. The circular appearance of the Eucharist represents the zodiac. Imagine the body curled up so that the head and feet could almost touch. This means that the zodiac, and hence the body is represented by a Eucharist. This is also the reason why the Eucharist is stored in a chalice. The body being sacred is kept in the Holy Grail. The characteristic sefirot ( ספירות ) describe for some 14 emanations. Their shining abilities are similar to stars. Thus like stars not all can be discerned clearly by the naked eye. The tree of life diagram is a map of the modes of consciousness that could be attained if the practitioner only elects to do so. This is an individual effort. A more realistic diagram. This diagram includes the Ain אין (Nothing) Soph סוף (End) Aur אור Ohr (Light). This is the limitless light, or light with no end. Also included in the diagram is the missing Daath, Daat ( דעת ). As a side note the ( אֵין סוֹף ʾēyn sōf ) portion means limitless, without end, or infinite. Not many of the diagrams available indicate all the sefirot. Additional information must be sought in such cases. One of your study diagrams should include a more complete diagram. Even if you do not use all of them. It is an excellent reference to have at your finger tips. The role of regeneration and renewal are key to understanding the festivals of the dead. The preparation for the rebirth in the spring requires incubation as the Sun spending a portion of six months in the other world undergoing its own conception and birth will again become a new Sun to rein in the world. The rituals serve an important process of what happens to us in our mental development. We do not arrest our development upon reaching adulthood. This temporary loss of understanding is expressed by a recent student of Korean rituals. The feeling that since the majority of the rituals have an agriculture component these rituals may not be applicable to an industrial society. This can be explained by revealing within each of us we all have a smaller solar system. The agriculture rituals point to higher mysteries which are timeless and need to be studied by those who are ready to pursue and understand the greater importance. Whenever we involve ourselves in the sequence of rituals throughout the year our very own conscious awakens. This happens to each of us. Therefore always strive to keep the lanterns burning. The symbolism of the apple in water is the soul floating in the incarnate of life. The placement of the apple in water is the baptism through water. Yet the apple floats it does not sink into the depts. This expresses the hidden meaning of the christ being who walks upon the waters. The higher spirt conscious rises above the water of thought. The practice of using the mouth to rise the apple out of the water teaches a very important lesson. One cannot resolve the dilemma of the soul by physical strength. This power cannot prevent the soul from sinking into elemental life. The way out is by the use of the head. It is the mind alone that can rescue the soul from the water sense life. This requires the connection with the mouth. As from the word wisdom is uttered with Love. In the picture above the relation of the head and The Word is implied by the green vesica piscis embossed with a gold border behind the the head of the girl. The word Witch is from the German word Wissen and means to know. The symbol of the hat describes a triangle. This polygon is a representation of spirit - soul - mind. The vedic terms are quite clear. These words are Atma - Buddhi - Manas. Collectively they are the God head. The arcana of the witch represents the trinity. The flying of the witch upon a broom means the divine fire of purity thinking comes down from heaven. The broom is the cleansing of the filth, and rubbish of the animal mind. The reason behind the dressing up in masks and costumes is the ritual of the soul descending into the animal life. An important number associated with Halloween in 6. The number marks the completion of the material universe. There is an interesting relationship with languages if you are up to the task. The German word for Witch is Hex. The Greek word for 6 is Hex. The tarot key labeled Lover(s) is given the number 6. The honorary representative of Halloween is the Witch. This figure represents the immortal soul with the God head attached in the form of a hat. The celebration of Halloween is the never ending mystery of Life as the soul enters the animal life. The Kemet word for mummy is Karast. It is a symbol of living forever even in death when contained within matter. The similarity of this word can be observed in the Greek word Christos and the English word for Christ as the anointed. Halloween is celebrated for the the "natural man" that develops and prepares prior to the "flowering man." The Greek word for this eve before the morrow is parasceve. This is known as the eve of preparation. Another Greek name is proeortia. This translates as in advance of going out. A costume of a Fool is associated with Halloween and some regions call this All Fool's Night. The meaning of this word Fool is the soul's incarnation. That is into flesh. The Epistle to the Galatians has sound advice. The soul is in its unawakened state of its childhood, corresponding to the ungerminated state of the seed. This seed is supervised by tutors and guardians. The soul is in servitude to the elements and elementals of earth and air. During all this there is the potential of Lord of All. The iconography of The Fool is of deep significance. The tarot of The Fool is described as being unwise, silly, disorganized, and having faulty sense perception. As the soul descends into the realm of the senses. She loses perspective. All the correct decisions involving life consciousness are not valued. There is distraction. The picture of reality is distorted. The confusion produced though generation and the senses is aided by disorientation and ignorance. This is caused by the loss of her divine faculty. The Fool is forced to grope blindly in the darkness and is seeped in folly at every turn. The word Silly means empty to imply air. The Fool may be seen carrying a balloon, a pin wheel, or a bag. The contents of watch may prove to be empty. The word Silly comes from the German word Selig. This word means blessed, Holy. The image of a woman with a harvest moon was accompanied by a rabbit and a cat. The totem of the rabbit is carried over into easter. The original arcana of this totem is still preserved in the Orient. What is this rabbit and moon connection with the festival of resurrection? In the time of the Mid Autumn festival a painting of an immortal fairy flying in the sky holding a rabbit is seen along with a harvest moon. In the Orient the mythology still holds true for the wise to decipher. A God went into the forest disguised as a beggar. This is the soul descending into regeneration and the sense world. The God is disoriented. The beggar meets three animals an otter (or monkey in some versions), fox, and rabbit. These three animals agree to find food for the beggar. This is the trinity. The monkey steals some milk and comes back along with fruits. The fox returns with fish. The rabbit comes with grass. The food of spirit. The rabbit sacrifices herself by jumping into the fire used to prepare the food. The God reveals the true form and rescues the rabbit placing the rabbit on the moon. This is the resurrection. Can one see a rabbit on the moon? The totem relationship is special. The rabbit of the three animals mentioned has a gestation period close to 28 days. Some species vary. The rabbit totem serves as the opener.

The Goddess and her trusted mount can be depicted in the Tarot of Fortitude. The law of repetition is an occult law. The taro image of the woman breaking a pillar merely by holding the structure has an image of a lion repeated. One on her head, one on her face, and on on her breast plated armor. Is it possible for a human face to bear resemblance to a beast? The drawing of a lion at the bottom left appears small and neutral in emotion. Almost at peace. A restful state. Many will disregard how the tarot is constructed. This is a shame as the principles reveal the universe patterns of the solar system and the constellations. The 78 cards show the position of the stars through every season. Just how this is achieved is informative. When the August sun rays grow weaker a new constellation appears. This is of a woman. The constellation is called Virgo. When Leo finally arrives the summer heat turns on. The days are very warm. Life derived from the sun can be understood by this stellar example. The energy from the sun rays will enter the animals, people, earth and plants. There is no need for a coat or sweater at this point. The grass may turn brown from the intensity of the sun rays. When the constellation of Virgo arrives. The power of the sun decreases. The Tarot shows a gentle lion in the presence of the woman. Can you control your emotions to achieve a desired outcome? Emotion that is out of control can not provide useful works. The Sun when properly used can help in the harvest. The Waite Tarot has a figure that is calm. The advantage of this painting is often ignored. Look at the mountain in the background on the left side. This mountain represents the Great Work. It is the mountain that symbolizes the mountains Lot and Moses climb. When you go to that mountain you are in the process of meditating. Hence by looking at tarot art you are invoking the process of meditating. The steps to meditate require you higher personality the angel gaining control over the savage nature of your lower thoughts. Once under control you can go to the mountain you can inhibit thought. A hermetic deck can provide more information. This work is by Godfrey Dowson. A determined woman unmoved with the power of Leo at her command. The fire spilling from the cup is known as divine fire. This is thought originating from heaven. It is a pure will that negates unpleasant passions. When the passions are tamed their powers can be used to forge the necessary virtues. The taro in particular reminds us of Daniel 6:1-28 when the angel closed the mouths of the lions in the den. The lions here refer to the savage beasts within our personality. The control over these beasts comes from prayer. The messenger. The angel makes the beasts unable to reveal their fangs in the presence of an adept. The woman holding the cup has a halo. This feature is present in art of divinity ruling over lower thoughts. In Tarot the halo can be displayed as a lemniscate. In mathematics it is borrowed as a concept for infinity. The so called figure eight in a horizontal position. The cross upon the woman of Virgo represents the balancing of archangel Michael "Mika-el" in the ancient Egyptian. This balance upon the stars directs the emotional centers. Question: What is the importance of the five petal flower above the alchemical symbol of Saturn? Lady Freida Harris shows Tarot designs can be very different and do not have to conform to blind copying. How many suns can you find in the card named Lust? One glance will not find all of them. Where are these suns located? The faces on the lion, where are they and in which direction are they looking? Do not forget to check out the face on the tail. Some of the faces are male and female humanoid. Some are animal like. Some have crowns some have halos. Above the beast are drawings of serpent tails. Notice the central pair in the middle. They resemble horns of a sheep. The figure below the multi-headed lion also must be studied. That figure has the eyes closed. This particular taro displays the different personalities we have command over. Which personality appears is based on which collection of emotions are observed. A Marseille Tarot. Differences can lead to discoveries about the universe. Simple explanations point to clues that are covered up. The number sequence presented in Tarot is suggested by interpreting passages from a book called Sefer Yetzirah. One version is translated by William Westcott, 1893. The pictures offer the neglected clues that are never consulted. The Tarot itself is a book. The pictures offer knowledge about the numerical sequence. Our queen wears a 6 pointed crown. It may perhaps be difficult to see directly. This is our divine principal within us. You have one. That is your sense of right verses wrong. If you let that guide you. You will foster that connection within you. For you to hear you must be silent within. The deeper connection between this Marseille tarot and the control of your human emotions requires further information. To find this information requires a trip to India. The Visconti Di Modrone Tarot is very beautiful. This emphasizes the importance of controlling the beast with the higher form of divinity within your very self. The use of Gold background an the verdant field below upon which the lion and woman stand represent the unification of higher thoughts with the lower carnal thoughts. Color and shape are carefully considered in the planning of a tarot key. The use of gold hair and golden crown indicate the halo surrounding her head and the active conscious ruling godhead in the symbol of the crown. The lady is the hidden symbol of the divine soul awakened. That is why in this picture the artist has the lady sitting upon the lion as the vehicle. In devotional paintings the higher form of intellect is quite often observed to be riding an animal mount. Notice how the tail is forming part of a lemniscate. This resembles a figure 8 and will touch the staff of the trident. The trident is called ( त्रिशूल ) Trishula. This symbol is related strongly to the three prong ש shin. The physical mind, The mental mind, and the spiritual mind can be accessed through the trident. You can guess that the trident plays an important role in emotional rulership. The description in Exodus of a serpent eating other serpents is actually the reincarnation of nine Goddesses into one Goddess (Durga). This is celebrated in India and is known as the Durga Puja. It is a celebration of nine nights and is thus called the Navaratri. The Nava means nine and the ratri means nights. The serpent motif is an emotion. There are nine sacred emotions. As a day passages into a night one of the emotions is introduced and the Goddess employed to harness control over the emotion is taught in foods story and imagery. Each night is marked for each serpent. The Bible passage Exodus 7:7-13 tells how the staffs of the magicians of Egypt are transformed into serpents. These nine serpents are then according to the parable swallowed completely by a tenth serpent. This is the encompassing feature. This Goddess Durga is honored by the 10th day of the celebration and represents the final reincarnation. Durga offers the gifts of purification. A prisoner of emotion is a prisoner without realizing it. The mind is described as a prison with a jailor known as friend your conscious self. The role of this art work (see above) is to gain freedom over yourself. Durga दुर्गा means inaccessible fortress. Your heart must be protected at all times. various spirits. Called thoughts can invade. Therefore a strong defense is necessary. This is why Durga appears so fierce. Note how the three fires arise from the spinal chord are represented by the trident which Durga grasps. The trident also reminds us of the three qualities rajas, tamas, and sattva. They go into making the response of the emotions. The halo of the sitting Goddesses is centered at the solar plexus. Nine emotions require control for each these nine. The art work allows for a way to gain the upper hand. There is a language in the poses of the figure riding the mount. Some of this information can be presented. All nine are said to be transformations of Durga. The numerical assignments of the pictures are from left to right beginning at the top left row. Each number represents the day of a festival honoring each of the aspects of our emotions. As noted previously finding the order reveals how emotions once tamed can be used for a higher noble purpose. The रस Rasas (juice, essence or flavors) are composed of nine types. These are 1 शृङ्गार Sringara Love, 2 हास्य Hasaya Mirth, 3 करुन्या Karunya Compassionate, 4 रौद्र Raudra Fury, Wrath, 5 वीर Veera (Vira) Courage, 6 भयानक Bhayanaka Fear , 7 बीभत्स Bibhatsa Disgust, 8 अद्भुत Adbutha Wonder, Surprise, 9 शान्तरस Shanta, peace, calm, content. Each of the Rasas are assigned to one of the representations of Durga. Day 1 Shailaputri Her mount is the Ox. The rasas number 1 is called Shringara शृङ्गार this is Love. We begin the search for love and to grow love within. The first day calls forth the seeking of the inner beauty and love. These two can heal. Love is the greatest strength. This refers again to the tarot image of the lady with the lion. The importance to understanding the art work is observation and careful attention. Please Make a note of where the legs are positioned. In this statue the right leg is extended below and the left leg is raised in a near cross position but not completely crossed. These notes must be compared with the other statues. On this day forth we start with two arms. The right are holds the trident. The left are welds the lotus flower. Day 2 Brahmacharini Austerity. This statue is one the few where the Goddess actually does not sit on a throne or a mount. The number 2 Rasa is Hasaya हास्य this is Mirth. The figure still uses only two arms. The complexity of the arms will continue. The right arm holds a Japa Mala Rosary. The left arm holds a Kamandalu. The contents of water symbolizes Amrita. This is the elixir of life. Day 3 Chandraghanta Compassion Pity. Rasa number 3 is Karunya करुन्या This is Compassion. The mount is a lion. Here the legs are completely different. The case for pity has the Goddess crossing her right leg and extending her left leg fully. The right leg is over the left leg in order for the control of pity to be successful. On day three more arms are required. Ten arms in all. Pity is an emotion that is draining. Day 4 Kushmanda Rasa number 4 is Raudra रौद्र this is Fury, Wrath. Again a clue to the way to overcome the power of the emotional pain from fury can be obtained by examining the legs. Here the right leg is partially raised at an angle. The left leg at the shin is extended. More of the weight of the rider is on the mount. If no rider were present wrath becomes out of control and results in much destruction. Your higher form of YOURSELF must be present. Avoid the temptation to leave your vehicle unattended. The fourth day demands eight arms. Four arms on each side. The two closed fists on the left side are the Mushti mudras. This releases suppressed emotions that are built up. The lower right hand has the dual honor of performing the Abhaya mudra and holding vessel by the thumb of honey elixir. This mudra conveys blessing. The lower left arm holds the pot of blood. The left hand has the fist Mushti mudra. The release of pent up emotion. The upper left hand holds the Sudarshana Chakra. The second left hand holds the Mace. The third left hand is the Mushti mudra fist (pointed downward). The upper right hand holds a lotus. The second right hand holds an arrow. The third right hand holds the bow. Day 5 Maa Skandamata Courage. The mount is a lion. The child is Karthikeya. The child is given the title Lord Skandamata or Lord Skanda. Note the six heads. Lord Skanda is assigned to Gevurah (Geburah) גבורה and is called strength. Hence the connection between courage and strength. This statue is unique among the nine for it is the only one where the legs of the rider form a perfect cross. The head and chest form an arrangement to allow the trace of a perfect triangle. The design of a triangle with a cross below is the alchemical symbol for sul-phur. This was no accidental coincidence The pose of the Goddess was design this way intentionally so. Rasa number 5 is Veera वीर this is Courage. In this form the right leg is fully extended and the left leg forms a perfect cross over the right leg. This day the number of arms is four upon the Goddess and four upon her child. The four arms relate to the four elements of fire air water and earth. In the case of courage the Goddess grasps a lotus flower in both left and right hands. The way they are held and the orientation of the hands holding no tools are really mudras. By understanding the mudras the unwritten symbolism of these sculptures can be learnt. The child holds the bow and arrow. These are the tools to form the state of union with the God Head. To utilize the full potential of the emotion of courage we must establish communion with the all. Only by the act of forcing the soul as the arrow can spirit be fixed into the flesh. This unification is necessary in order to perceive higher worlds. Here we can see how the sulphur symbol is designed into the statue. This approach can be observed in the creation of the tarot paintings. Scholars wishing to study the tarot would be wise to examine the art found in shires and temples throughout the world. Day 6 Katyayani Fear. Rasa number 6 is Bhayanaka भयानक this is Fear. The pose of the rider is completely different. The right leg is crossed over the left leg but only the ankle rests upon the the thigh of the left leg. The left leg itself is extended at the shin and the left foot is resting upon the floor. This configuration allows the mount to be stationary and not move. The emotion of fear immobilizes us. To ensure this note how the right arms are free of tools. The lower right hand is the Varada mudra. The upper right hand is the Abhaya mudra. These mudras are seen on buddha statues sitting with legs folded. This is the gesture of protection. This is known as the fearlessness mudra with the palm shown and the fingers extended. The left arms hold tools. The lower arm holds the Khadga (long sword) sword of truth and victory. The higher arm holds the lotus flower. 7 Kalratri Disgust Her mount is the donkey. Rasa number 7 is Bibhatsa बीभत्स this is Disgust. In this emotion the rider does not form a cross with either of the legs. The right leg is bent but rests upon the mount. The left leg is extended with the foot facing the viewer. The two arms on the right side are free of tools. The arms on the left side contain tools. Her upper left hand holds the snake. This is the attempt to rise in wisdom by gaining higher consciousness. Her lower left hand holds the hooked Vajra. Her upper right hand is the gesture of the Abhaya mudra. This is the gesture of fearlessness. 8 Mahagauri Wonder Rasa number 8 is Adbutha अद्भुत this is Wonder. Here the rider is relaxed. The right leg is extended and the left leg is about to form a cross. This differs from the previous days. Here the right arms contain a tool and a free hand. The left arms are asymmetrical. Her upper right hand welds the trident. Her lower right hand displays the Abhaya mudra. The upper left hand of the Goddess is the Varada mudra. The Varada mudra is the seal. This mudra represents the offering, welcome, charity, giving, compassion and sincerity. It is performed with the help of both the hands in which palm of right hand is facing forward and fingers extended and left hand palm placed near omphalos (sacred stone, navel of the earth) with extended fingers. The lower left hand holds the Damaru (Tambourine). Day 9 Maa Siddhidatri Tranquility This statue does not demand a mount. Here a throne is provided. Rasa number 9 is Shanta शान्तरस this is peace. This statue is different from the others. Instead of standing erect or sitting upon an animal the figure sits upon a lotus. The mount has transformed into as higher being. The pose has the right leg slightly bent. The left leg forms a cross, but does not intersect the right leg. The left foot almost is about to touch the knee joint of the right leg. The last day the four arms each hold tools. These are the same tools Vishnu welds. The rear right hand holds the Sudarshana Chakra. The lower right hand holds the Gada (mace). The upper left hand displays the shankha (Conch), while the lower left hand grasps the padma lotus. The tools displayed in this arrangement of Siddhidatri's hands are the same as in the arrangement displayed for Vishnu's hands. Vishnu is observed to be standing on a lotus. The globe shows the representation of the ark in the sky. If the paintings were studied a story can be realized. The figure of a man part horse part human is emerging from ship. The figure is in combat with an animal. That animal is called THE BEAST. The higher nature of ourself must overcome the lower debased nature. Notice how the mounts and legs differ for each of the 9 emotions. Why does Tranquility require the lotus? The order of the animals and plant suggest an evolution of change. This means the emotion if understood is actually a tool to mentally evolve your own mind. Even by these careful observations knowledge can be obtained. On the days assigned for Love 1, Courage 5, Wonder 8, and Tranquility 9 the right leg is extended toward the ground. The day for Mirth 2 requires both legs on the ground. The days assigned for Pity 3, Wrath 4, Fear 6, Disgust 7 require that the left foot be extended toward the ground. This is not by chance. The structure shows how two different forces can be used in aid. This concept is underlying the design present the pillar of Mercy and Pillar of Strength which can be seen in Tree of Life diagrams. The same concept is seen yet again in the Tao symbol of 陰 Yin and 陽 Yang. This is also seen in the Mason Boaz בֹּעַז and Jachin יָכִין pillars. This repeatability can be realized as to what it actually means when considering the twelve signs of the zodiac. Six of the signs are assigned as winter constellations and six are assigned as summer constellations. If you ignore for a moment the desire to think only of climate then you can fully realize that the constellation assignments are really pointing to a way of controlling your emotions and achieving the gradual change in character and personal development. Schematic of the leg positions. Days 1, 5, 8, and 9 the Goddesses have their right leg extended. Days 3, 4, 6 and 7 the Goddesses have their left leg extended. Day two the Goddess stands upon both feet. Why are diagrams and finding relations in art so important to the student? One who begins the study of this science [חכמה] must know that as students we must first learn all of the drawings [הציורים], and how all the worlds descend [משתלשלים] one after another. And all of these representations must be drawn [מצוירים] before the study can proceed. This is so that the students can comprehend and understand the matters of the universe without blind concepts and second guessing.
We often ignore the gifts we have and in so doing become unable to recognize miracles in our midst. By being passive we expect all to be brought to us and served. The ability to achieve anything is over mind. Our impressions are from the fancies of our own mind. How do we view others and ourselves when all is derived from up here? We pride ourselves on being able to distinguish between what we assume to be fact and what we believe to be fantasy. As a consequence we will often ignore value and meaning for misunderstanding. Encoded within art are features of the zodiac. The terms of vice and virtue arise in a peculiar way. The are not random but are ascribed to a tabernacle. This place is a habitation for twelve species. Their domains clash and unite within us. The bees in the diagram are a symbol of the descending monad. This symbolism is very old predating many cultures. The animal totem is for the soul. Since the mind cannot grasp that which it wrongly perceives as touch. Seeing therefore cannot be believed. Therefore symbols were introduced as referenced to animals. The underlying powers and forces are not tangible to be grasped by the work men's tools. The Gods were originally depicted as animals. To assist in gaining the upper hand a language appears in art. This language is hidden away. The keys lost forever. The forms are carefully preserved for the individual to find. The Latin word for hope is Spes. A far more useful fact than any other to be promulgated. Of the cardinal virtues, it is Hope that is assigned an anchor. How often must an icon be show before the mind can reveal its meaning? Intellect being alone needs help if it works in the dark. Hope is placed in the constellation of Pisces. The region of this constellation is described as a sea. To achieve any stable sense in mind requires the attachment to a place where there is not a high degree of changeability. The use of an anchor for a ship requires that the anchor rests upon a solid surface. Thought is described as Water. The origin of thought is in the head. This is why Pisces is described as being associated with the head. Known as the gateway to the astral world. The astrological symbol has two fish one pointing west and the other pointing or swimming north. If land were to be created in the midst of water than faith has a place to take root in. Understanding the need for land when water is present provides an explanation for the tarot designs that mark the constellations of Aquarius and Pisces. Key 17, the XVII has the name The Star. It is related to Aquarius. Key 18, XVIII has the name The Moon. This is assigned to Pisces. Both contain water and land. The virtue of hope is well represented by a lone figure climbing out of the water and seeking dry firm land. Why find these images in Palaces, Tarot cards, Churches and Masonic Halls? The application of mind material without any divine control leads only to water remaining water. Hope removes uncertainty by forming a link to land. By forming land desire lends a hand in the process. The plans of a Divine mind are completed yet there is no outward manifestation. When the activities necessary for consciousness have been completed then rest occurs. This is where mind realizes its fulfillment. All that has been planned will emerge. The events succeed in the conformity of will. This all requires the need of Hope to combat undeveloped energy wasted and dissipated Be still. Be quiet. Be still and know the Truth. The divine love and benevolence expressed by the allegory of spring returning after winter slumber releases charity to all mankind. The work of imagination is expressed by the word dry land. The word waters can represent unexpressed capacities. This is the mind substance to make thought. All is derived from water. Light is intelligence. This gives understanding. Light should be shone first in order to begin. In the water can be found living creatures. These are ideas. Sensation and discrimination lead to new life forms. The birds that take flight are Thoughts. Therefore we have two worlds comprised of earth and seas. The world of earth are formed. The world of sea are unformed. The virtue of Hope with the anchor provides harmony to establish equilibrium in each of these worlds. The word beasts represent the free energies available for life that are related to sensation. These are available in potential. A divine idea is always available and can instantly be sent into activity. How interesting in the service of art lies the ladder to better oneself. If the outer world and inner world are at harmony there is peace. A study of the labors carved upon cathedral doorways and found on stain glass will reward the onlooker with a woman holding children, sometimes outdoors among a spring day. The personification of charity is the gift of establishing faith and hope. The emblem of the woman holding the cross is more revealing. The cross an ancient symbol. It can be seen in the zodiac and therefore is connected to the body. The word for anointed is 1480. The The greater arm of a cross is considered the length of a body. A square thought of as being Just with four 90 degree angles can be drawn with sides of 1480. If this is performed it will have a diagonal of 2,093. Such a square can hold with her bounds an inscribed circle. This circle shares than a special relation with the square. Can you determine it? A sphere made from that circle is called the firmament. When this firmament is established in the midst of the waters it provides Faith. It is of Faith that moves upon the unformed capacities of Spirit consciousness. The firmament is the mental image of the divine mind. This image serves to produce ideas. Above the firmament are waters of unexpressed capacities. They are not formed. So they are called waters. Above is where the conscious mind is able to rest in Faith in the Divine Mind. What lies below this firmament? The waters of the Subconscious mind. Again these are waters. They are not formed but are potential. In reverse the subconscious also rests in Faith in the Divine Mind. When Faith is successfully established in consciousness there becomes a state of perfect harmony. View of the sphere from the backside shows the three constellations namely the Water Carrier, Fishes, and the Ram. The proper sequence of Faith, Hope, and Charity lead to the sweetness of the Pleiades. The direction of these three constellations as the earth moves connects from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox. The golden gate is between the Pleiades and the Hyades. The sweet influence of the Pleiades result in the melting of the snow. This happens as the rays of the sun grow stronger. The much stronger vernal sun fundicates the earth. The flowers appear. The birds sing, The insects awaken. The zodiacal ladder allows for the resurrection in man. To ascent into heaven from the underworld requires the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity. Once the virtue of the soul in man is obtained in the climbing of the rounds then and only then can the canopy be pierced revealing the starry heavens. By arranging the body upon the fixed cross. The head is pointing toward Taurus. The feet and loins point toward Scorpio. The torso lies between Leo and Aquarius. In this way we can learn how Faith, Hope and Charity align with the three centers in the head. They are present in the cerebrum. These hidden nerve plexuses are toward the backside of the head. Much discussions involved what the pineal and thalamus might be doing. Yet it is though the use of drawings of female figures holding children, or leaning by a cross, or even by holding an anchor that we can achieve supremacy over these centers. It is the virtues that we are seeking and not the unpleasant characters that dwell in these centers. The planetary designations are: Saturn in Aquarius for the action of Faith, Jupiter in Pisces for the calling forth of hope, and Mars in Aries for the erecting of Charity. To gather the waters is the start of formation. This is imagination. Once with the aid of Faith, Hope, and Charity the mind of the individual is able to rise up to the cloudy canopy. Here and only this canopy of clouds can be pierced by the individual if they so wished. The reward is access to the royal arch. The constellation of Cancer is designated in the stone masonry by what is called a Keystone. The three constellations associated with the constellation of Cancer point to the reason why. Although the summer solstice is marked by maximum limit of the Sun in the northern hemisphere. This implies the great power of the sun and hence the spiritual strength that can be influenced by the moon (The intellect). Each of the three constellations lying off the zodiac but are related to the constellation of Cancer are occult star fields. These are referred to as Ursa Major, The Great Bear. Ursa Minor, the Small or lesser Bear. The Argo Navis. They form the carriage or vehicle. The symbol of the Great Bear is the marker of the physical body. The symbol of the small bear is the vehicle of the causal body. The symbol of the ship in the southern hemisphere is the ark. The Maori name Te Waka-o-Tamareti preserves the occult sense of the constellation.
For a mystery this sculpture has a lot of staying power. The eyes of a gazer can spends hours studying the work. The flanking figures holding the torches are enhanced by the small but slightly visible fire extinguisher. This matches the figure holding the torch upside down. This piece of work provides in part the answer. The answer to how to bring God into man. The rites of Mithra were designed to unlock and awaken the secret of regeneration. To impart divinity is the goal hidden in the work known as Genesis. The two figures holding torches bear the trace of a circuit. The importance to producing a current is the circuit. The descent of the soul and the ascent of the soul. Descending and reascending. The eating from the tree of active and passive. Is the tree of good and evil. The use of the scorpion hence the reproductive gonads to entice the spirit to descend from the brain after knowledge allows one to see as gods by following the evolution law of reincarnation to ascend and return. The story of Genesis is the Macrocosm story of the sun moving through the zodiac. The effects of the mind as man occur in the image of the sun in the microcosm. All three figures in the stone art work have the Phrygian cap. Zosimus, the alchemist give us a great gift in the form of a treatise on Asbestos. This philosophic substance is the pure body of man that can remain in the fire without being consumed. It is very hard to use the fire of heaven without getting nothing in return. The application of the will leads to undesired results. Success will come, but what to do with the excess energy? This results in anger, sadness, depression, tears. How to control the outcome? Wasting the gifts of heaven will not be fruitful. The removal of the animal mind is required. Zosimus recommends the following procedure: if you dry it in the sun you shall possess the mystery that no man can impart, in which no one of all the wisdom-lovers hath ventured to initiate in words; but by the sanction of themselves have they imparted its initiation. For they have called in the scriptures the chief of all the mysteries: The stone that is no stone, the unknowable known unto all, that which hath no honor yet is of the greatest honor. That which none can give but God alone, the one thing in all our operations which is superior to all that is material. That is the remedy which doth contain all power. This of which he writes is called the Mithriac Mystery. A constellation of great importance and clearly visible is hidden from human affairs. The Chaldean works mention it as Rukubi, The Chariot. The painting above has the driver wear a Phrygian cap. The Auriga constellation is appropriately mysterious for our intended purpose. The charioteer in Latin is Auriga. Paintings of the constellation offer telltale clues as to the purpose of the constellation. Any attempt to fit the images to known mythologies fail. The paintings also include a female goat and two goats at a much younger age. There is a song used by Magi that describes a chariot driver. Knowledge of this song comes to us from Dion Chrysostom (50-120 AD). The song was used as a sacred hymn. This Supreme and perfect Charioteer has the most perfect vehicle. More admirable and ancient far than the chariot of the sun which all can see. This perfect vehicle is the cosmic car drawn by the four great elements. This is the all-perfect sphere of the AEON, or the eternity. This is the boundless time. He is regarded by the Magi as infinite space. His name is Zervan Akarana. This means eternity without bounds, who in this tradition transcends Ahura Mazda. This is the complete man. Knowledge of the Auriga is by all means not held to be unknown known only by the AEON. This celestial map reveals the driver to be wearing a crown. This one has the elements under control. The goats again appear in this painting. The female goat is on the shoulder. The star part of this goat is Capella. The star is also named The Heart of Brahma. The star is Amalthea that provided milk to baby Zeus. Both the driver and this passenger are held in high regard. The four elements are the steeds of the great chariot of all things. The course of the first winged horse is beyond the limits of heaven itself. This steed transcends the rest in beauty, greatness and speed, and shines with purest brilliance. Its resplendent coat is dappled over with sparks of flame, the stars. the planets, and the moon. The second horse is air. Its color is black. The side turned towards its shining mate is bright with light, but that in shade is dark. In nature it is mild, and more obedient to the rein; it is less strong than fire and slower in its course. The third is water, slower still than air; while earth the fourth of the great cosmic team, turns on itself champing its adamantine bit. Round it its fellow steeds circle as round a post. And this continues for long ages, during which the cosmic team work steadily together in peace and friendship. But after many ages, at a certain time, the mighty breath of the first horse, as through in a passion, desires to pour from on high and gives this fire to the other horses in the team. The other horses become hot. Finally the mane of the horse of earth is set ablaze. This describes the action of the cross as the crucible provided for the mixing of the four elements. In suffering of this cosmic passion the earth causes also distress to its neighbor, the water horse. This disturbs the course of the water horse resulting in floods of sweat inundate the earth horse. This happens at certain great periods of time when the Charioteer either reins in his steeds or urges them on with the whip, as needs may be to keep the world course that his will marks out. The one element from many becomes the Charioteer But at the end of the world's age a still stranger mystery is wrought. A divine contest takes place among the four horses. All their own natures become transformed, and their substances pass over to the mightiest of the four. It is as though a sculptor had modeled four figures in wax, and melted them down again, and remade them into one form. The one element becomes omnipotent, and finally in its triumph is identified with the charioteer. This mythology describes four elements recombining into the fifth. Robert Fludd's Monochord attracts alot of attention on the possibilities. What if there were connections to music and art and science? This drawing reveals a way to obtain. contact with the various nerve centers along the spine system. Attempts to utilize its glory require the mind to make the efforts. Now it is just a diagram often presented to tantalize the reader. This diagram can be found in the Utriusque cosmi maioris scilicet et minoris metaphysica physica atque technica historia. The Musical scale was assigned to the Mithriac Climax. A method to bring God into Man. So secret is this that it is not revealed to any one. The use of metal names to nerve centers are employed by alchemists. This process of identification is the same as the Sanskrit names used for lotus petals to identify nerve centers in yogic techniques. The structure of every lotus and the movement of the petals must be obtained by the student. The spinal nervous system is very important in Holy Texts. The Mithriac Climax is the stations from the base of the spine to the head. When the nervous system is activated in proper sequence the regions of the head closed become now open. That brings on new mental activity. Never before encountered. In the initiation of Mithra the soul passes through irregular spheres. These are the nerve centers. They are irregular because their sizes and activities vary along the spine. The quality of thoughts derived from these centers create a ladder. The ladder has seven gates. The first gate in the spine is composed of lead, the second gate is tin, the third gate is copper, the fourth gate is of iron, the fifth gate is an alloy, the sixth gate is silver, the seventh gate is of gold. The metal arrangement corresponds to the roman deity name scheme of Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Moon, Sun. The centers of silver and gold are inside the head. Fresco image made as a rough drawing. Much information has been damaged in the many frescos found underneath the church. Where one conducts this does not matter. In the ritual a cave was chosen. This was because the solar consciousness is born in an enclosed structure. That structure is the astrological sign of Capricorn. The baby Christ. The sun is born in that sign. Synonymous with an enclosed structure is the microcosm version. Inside Man. The Man is a cave for the deity. The Capricorn is housed in a vault of the sacrum. This is where the hip bones meet with the torso. The use of caves as performance spaces is along this manner: The Cafe Wha? and Chislehurst Cave, for example. Within this cave a special room was constructed to have eight walls. Each wall corresponded for gates along the ladder. Hence the walls could be decorated with symbols of the metals and planets. A couch decorated with lion motifs will allow the seeker a view of the 8 walls. Mirrors can be placed at each wall and allow the seeker to gaze and find their soul, then move with their soul through each gate. This allows a one to one experience with conscious activity to move and activate each of the nerve centers. According to a St. Jerome there were seven degrees of initiation. They were described, by the writer, as a title to be given to the initiate. The titles are: number 1 Raven, number 2 Occult, number 3 Soldier, number 4 Lion, number 5 Persian, number 6 Runner of the Sun, and number 7 Father. It is said by critics that statues of these titles existed. There is a fresco underneath the Santa Prisca in Rome Italy. It has the seven grades represented as human figures. In more detail they are the following: Number 1 Corax -- Mercury: Raven and Magic Staff, Number 2 Nymphus -- Venus: bridal veil, Number 3 Miles -- Mars: Lance, helmet and bag, Number 4 Leo -- Jupiter: Shovel, sistrem (rattle), and thunder bolts, Number 5 Perses -- Luna, crescent moon, scythe and faix, Number 6 Heliodromus -- Sol, whip, torch, halo , Number 7 Pater -- Saturn: Hat, robes, ring and staff. Each of these ranks had functions and statements to make. The Miles receives a crown onto the head. The Miles removes the crown. The Miles replies: Only Mithras is my crown. The raven grade is present in alchemy. The alchemists say the raven is the door to their art. The Magian mystery aimed to focus on two areas. One deals with the descent of souls into generation, and the other with the ascent of souls and their freedom from the necessity of rebirth. This is the becoming gods. These areas are the lesser and greater secrets. You are of the stars, not just of the earth. We forget this and judge our condition and home only on what we deceive and glean from sensation. The rituals help us to remember. The word Magi means servants of God. The use of honey to wash the hand is a purification ritual. This is a symbol of the ox-born. At one point in the ceremony there would be scheduled a meal among the participants. A recreation is presented above. The application of common eating is seen in many ceremonies. This is represented in places outside the temple such as among friends, at a job, or anywhere, anyplace. The bringing together and sharing of foods is vital though the meaning forgotten. The Agape meal was once a part of the early christian church. This changed after the fourth century AD. The word Agape is from the Greek (ἀγάπη) for unconditioned love. Abide with me in my soul. Leave me not that I may be initiated and that the Holy Spirit may breathe within me. One of the rituals involves the playing of cymbals and drums. Later wine is poured onto a cymbal. and drunken from. Bread is placed onto a drum and eaten. Initiates would offer bread and water to Mithras in a ritual. The act of getting it together involves the Vagus nerve. It is the longest cranial nerve. It contains motor and sensory fibers and, because it passes through the neck and thorax to the abdomen, has the widest distribution in the body. This nerve contains somatic and visceral afferent fibers, as general and specific visceral efferent fibers. The vagus nerve is attached to the medulla oblongata by filaments. These attachment points are along a groove between the olive and the inferior peduncle. The grove of olive trees. The olives are involved in motor learning. Such as playing piano, Moving limbs in certain ways. The olives are also involved in auditory sensation. The ability to localize sounds involves the tissues of the olives. The vagus nerve passes vertically down the neck within the carotid sheath, lying between the internal jugular vein and internal carotid artery as far as the upper border of the thyroid cartilage, and then between the same vein and the common carotid artery to the root of the neck. The further course of the nerve differs on the two sides of the body On the right side, the nerve passes across the subclavian artery between it and the right innominate vein, and descends by the side of the trachea to the back of the root of the lung, where it spreads out in the posterior pulmonary plexus. From the lower part of this plexus two cords descend on the esophagus, and divide to form, with branches from the opposite nerve, the esophageal plexus. Below, these branches are collected into a single cord, which runs along the back of the esophagus enters the abdomen, and is distributed to the postero-inferior surface of the stomach, joining the left side of the celiac plexus, and sending filaments to the splenic plexus. On the left side, the vagus enters the thorax between the left carotid and subclavian arteries, behind the left innominate vein. It crosses the left side of the arch of the aorta, and descends behind the root of the left lung, forming there the posterior pulmonary plexus. From this it runs along the anterior surface of the esophagus, where it unites with the nerve of the right side in the esophageal plexus, and is continued to the stomach, distributing branches over its anterosuperior surface; some of these extend over the fundus, and others along the lesser curvature. Filaments from these branches enter the lesser omentum, and join the hepatic plexus. The Jugular Ganglion is of a grayish color, spherical in form, about 4 mm. in diameter. This ganglion is connected with the hypoglossal, the superior cervical ganglion of the sympathetic, and the loop between the first and second cervical nerves. Your thoughts are from these nerve centers. They are not inert focus only on maintaining the body. You are a composite. The reasoning behind the solar child mythology is a point is necessary for the need to obtain control of all these centers. This unification ushers in the new Aeon. Complacency of life and mind will not seem to necessitate change. Points in growth that can deem it the most teens and middle of life. An event or series of events can drive such change. Yet such change can occur at any moment regardless of a specific condition. Picture from the self portrait of the artist Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy Trioson. The artist is wearing a Phyrgian cap. The ability to be independent and free was not a political concept. The french revolution 1787-1799 used the cap as a symbol for other purposes. Independence of mind means to be free. The endless reincarnations end with the solar child. The effects of emotion have no effect on a free mind. In the corpus Hermetica a passage mentions souls being unable to pilot their (vessel). The receiving of the gift of the 10 divine powers grants one the right to wear this cap. Drawings of the prophet name Zarathustra have a human figure with a beard. The light of the Sun can be seen to emit from the head in more recent devotional paintings. In the older drawings the figure is depicted as wearing the same hat that Mithra wears in the sculpture piece at the beginning of this article. It is in the Bahman Yast in which Zarathustra receives water to experience a vision. In this manuscript a tree with seven branches is described. They involve a Gold branch, a Silver branch, a Brazen branch, a Copper branch, a Tin branch, a Steel branch, A branch mixed up with iron. The branches 1 Gold branch 2 Silver branch 3 Brazen branch 4 Copper branch 5 Tin branch 6 Steel branch 7 Iron branch Much careful consideration will yield to a revelation that these tree branches and the Mithra ranks are related to the same citadels in the body. These are the nerve centers. There are seven required for initiation into the Holy City. The placed called Babylon is also called the Gate of God. The rational understanding will take time. The ranks of Mithra can be understood by comparing them with the metal branches. MITHRA RANKS 1 Corax -- Mercury: Raven and Magic Staff 2 Nymphus -- Venus: bridal veil 3 Miles -- Mars: Lance, helmet and bag 4 Leo -- Jupiter: Shovel, sistrem (rattle), and thunder bolts 5 Perses -- Luna, crescent moon, scythe and faix 6 Heliodromus -- Sol, whip, torch, halo 7 Pater -- Saturn: Hat, robes, ring and staff. YOU Will have to assigned them to each branch of the tree. This effort will be urged upon the reader. Make the most of this exercise and you will be surprised by a wonderful discovery that is hidden upon the face of the earth. The Orpheus playing the Lyre to the different animals does so with a hat that may or may not appear familiar to the reader. In this mosaic the central figure wears a Phyrgian cap. Each animal has a significance. Can you name them? The use of the music controls your thinking. To achieve victory over ignorance requires the gift of truth.
To make a pocketful of Gold requires this Divine Science. The beginnings are humble and require fear of the Lord. The end of this work starts in charity and love of your neighbor be ever so ready to offer assistance. Tarot publishers often include a collection of 16 sixteen paintings. These depict figures of a royal family. They are known as Court cards. As customary in Tarot explicit information is vague. There are four suits of Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. In each of these suits a royal family of a king, Queen, and Knight can be discerned. The last figure is either a girl or boy in early development. The word Page or Princess is assigned. In some Tarot the Kings of the Cups and Pentacles have feminine features. The same trend can be observed with Male facial features of the Queen of Wands and Queen of Swords. Although any exposure to Tarot will produce a vague familiarity with the royal personage little if any knowledge as to their meaning and usage can be obtained That is due to the way Tarot teaches. We are encouraged to use our own senses and ways of judgement. If we are unable to recognize nobility before us. Then we choose the easier way. We ignore them until a writer comes along and provides us with clues. Therefore interest passes on to the Major Arcanum and our tarot court is largely ignored. The outer appearances of the members hold many questions as to what these paintings could provide the viewer. In the use of fortune telling and among different levels of divination the paintings are applied in understanding the characteristics of a person. These life forms may fall into two broad categories. One category is assigned the court to serve as a guide through the series of cards used in a tarot reading. Which painting is chosen to identify personalities maybe determined by looking at the various designs and making a selection based a whim, fancy, desire, or curious interest. How this works involves identifying a part or concept of an archetype displayed in the painting. The tarot image shares a bond with the one who is seeking information. The seeker of truth or the one desirous of answers to questions often needs an ally in the process of unraveling a mystery or pressing concern. The seeker is given the name in Tarot Books as the "Querent". The other category applies the paintings to identify individuals that involve the Querent. These interactions can occur independent of time. They may have happened, will happen, or are happening at the moment of the reading. Such information is to be judged from the reading. This will all seem foreign if you have not participated with tarot. The querent and the reader can be one in the same person. Two people can participate. Even large groups. Attempts at seeking theoretical information about the family in the court cards appears limited if the search only applies to books on the tarot. A much better source is the Bhagavad Gita. The designers and creators of the Tarot were after a much bigger gift than is currently perceived by the community at large. If we consider the images of the Knight, Queen, and King of the court regardless of any specific suit we are able to distinguish a revelation. The figures are displaying emotions. The Knight displays passion. The Queen displays serenity . The King displays goodness. The Sanskrit names are Rajas (रजस्), Tamas (तमस्), and Sattva (सत्त्व). Tamas means darkness. Sattva means light. Rajas means Passion. If all three combine together we call their association the Gunas. The word Guna (गुण) means rope. The literal meanings provide deeper insight as to the actual uses. Being used to the belief that our actions are derived only from our encounters a person is unwise and not able to comprehend that our thoughts actually are formed by a mixture of building blocks. How the guans are poured and mixed and prepared result in an observed personality. The action or inaction we experience comes from the associations of the Sattva, Tamas, and Rajas. Therefore the application of different types of behavior can be assigned, associated, or mapped to the paintings called King, Queen, Knight, and Princess. Just as members of court in a palace. This is not so far fetched to be useful for our purposes. As an example can be found in internal alchemy. The organs of the liver, stomach, and kidney are called the members of the Emperor's Court. We can safely say without being in any error that the members of the court cards have an association with a personality. Therefore students of texts like the Bhagavad Gita and students of the Tarot have an opportunity to learn from each other. Light can be shed on both areas in order to gain wisdom and understanding by a give and take style. To study the nature of the Microcosm (Man) we must seek out its model by observing the Macrocosm (universe). Here the Water Lily is a perfect example. This is also reflected in using the flower in the coat-of-arms. There are three parts of the plant structure. These graphically teach the differences of the Gunas. The Tamas is necessary to exist but it is not spectacular to behold. The activities cannot be understood. This refers to the roots in the mud below the surface. There is inertia and unpleasantness. By having Rajas force its way into Tamas the stem holding the eventual leaf and flower can rise above the surface of the waters. This is visible activity. It is strong but not idea to look upon. The violent activity makes one look away. Once the flower blooms this is Sattva. The creative, beauty and wisdom which draws us to appreciate. Sattva cannot exist without the Tamas and Rajas qualities. By forgetting how the flower bloomed we do not appreciate the existence. The name Bhagavad Gita (भगवद्गीता ) means Song of God. Chapter 14 of the Bhagavad Gita describes the three modes of material nature. The total material substance Prakriti (प्रकृति) is the womb. This is represented by the princess of the court family. The energy that enriches the material nature binds the soul to the perishable body. This energy operates in three modes. These are the gunas. The three modes are Sattva, which is goodness, Rajas which is passion, and Tamas, which is ignorance. Here we can understand the assignments. The princess involves standing on earth. The knight symbolic of Rajas rides a horse. The King and Queen sits on thrones. To understand what the soul experiences from interacting with the body we can only attempt to study the effects of the modes. The Sattva binds the soul creating attachment for a sense of happiness and knowledge. The Rajas offers passion and binds the soul through attachment to fruitive actions. This is viewed as worldly desire. Tamas binds the soul to illusion and brings about sleep. Delusion leads to laziness, sleep, and negligence. How do these different modes behave? Sattva binds the soul to material happiness. The rajas conditions the soul towards the direction of actions. Tamas clouds the potential for wisdom and binds the soul to the condition of delusion. These three modes can combine to produce different conditions try to identify these combinations in your own life. Extreme Cases occur at different moments. 1 Sattva (goodness) prevails over Rajas (passion) and Tamas (ignorance) 2 Rajas (passion) dominates Sattva (goodness) and Tamas (ignorance) 3 Tamas (ignorance) overcomes Rajas (passion) dominates Sattva (goodness) Recognizing when these cases occur is a step of awakening. This means Sattva overcoming Tamas with assistance of Rajas. The artwork in the Tarot allow such a condition. The conscious efforts are necessary. Lazy attitude means Tamas dominates. The basis for understanding the interplay is the way to discover the laws controlling evolution. To escape the endless cycle of birth and rebirth is for the soul to become independent of the gunas. This is the purpose of the mythology of (Herakles) Hercules the Solar God. To instruct the domination of spirit over matter. A way to know if Sattva promotes knowledge can be observed if all the gates of the body are illumined. This means the Sun interacting with all Zodiacal signs. Rajas domination of the zodiac means the symptoms of greed, exertion for worldly wealth, and cravings of power envelop the soul. The worse condition opposite to all Rajas is all Tamas. The feeling of loss. Misery, depression, inertia and hopelessness rule the zodiac. A difficult passage to understand. Those who die with a predominance of Sattva reach the pure abodes. A study of Genesis and Revelation of Johannes may clear this up. Sattva is purer than the other modes. Some of these abodes excludes any of the other modes. Those who chose to die with excess Rajas will be born among others that share a passion for work. Those who wish to die in Tamas take the birth in the animal kingdom. The fruit you elect to eat has profound effects. The fruit of actions performed in the mode of Sattva (goodness) will achieve pure results. The fruit of action results in pain. The fruit of ignorance gives only darkness. What do we obtain from our efforts? Sattva gives knowledge. Rajas gives greed. Tamas gives ignorance, negligence, and delusion. These prolonged activities result in either going upward, staying in the middle, or going downward. These are directions of enlightenment. How to be free from the wheel of fortune? How to be free from the wheel of the zodiac? Wisdom shines light to see. There does not exist agents of any kind. Your events are due to the three modes or gunas. To learn this and realize this means you become transcendental to the gunas. This breaks the endless cycle of birth and death. By deciding to transcend the three modes of material nature associated with the body you become free from birth, death, old age, misery, and attain the immortality. What are the characteristics of those choosing to go beyond and break the hold of the gunas? The persons who are transcendental to the three guṇas neither hate illumination (which is born of sattva), nor activity (which is born of rajas), nor even delusion (which is born of tamas), when these are abundantly present, nor do they long for them when they are absent. They remain neutral to the modes of nature and are not disturbed by them. Knowing it is only the guṇas that act, they stay established in the self, without wavering. Those who are alike in happiness and distress; who are established in the self; who look upon a clod, a stone, and a piece of gold as of equal value; who remain the same amidst pleasant and unpleasant events; who are intelligent; who accept both blame and praise with equanimity; who remain the same in honor and dishonor; who treat both friend and foe alike; and who have abandoned all enterprises – they are said to have risen above the three guṇas. Those who serve me with unalloyed devotion rise above the three modes of material nature and come to the level of Brahman. I am the basis of the formless Brahman, the immortal and imperishable, of eternal dharma, and of unending divine bliss. The tarot through its design has the goal of breaking the bonds of the three gunas. This is an individual task. The process involves the wheel. The paintings of the tarot describe the steps of the reincarnations. Looking at the four suits of the minor arcanum we can notice the pips relate to the Sattva, Rajas, Tamas, and Prakriti. The suit of wands is Sattva. The suit of Cups is Tamas, The suit of Swords is Rajas, The suit of Pentacles is Prakriti. In Kabbalah terminology The suit of wands is Atzilah world - World of Emanation. The suit of cups is Beriah world - World of creation. The suit of swords is Yezirah world -World of becoming. The suit of Pentacles is Assiah world - World of making. The effects of Rajas and Tamas can be seen in the tarot symbols. The image of the wand is that of a direction a sign of will. This is Rajas. The degree of Rajas differs of course. The action of desire carried by the wand is opposed by the inertia of the cup. The suit of cups offers Tamas to the Rajas of the wands. This parallels with the suits of swords and pentacles. The Rajas of the sword is blocked by the inertia of the pentacles. The older versions described the pentacle not as the microcosm but as a shield. The sword and shield pair described the relationship of Rajas and Tamas clearly. The flavor of Salt and Vinegar has different effects. One is voluntary, the other is involuntary. It is difficult to associate taste with bodily reactions. Normal functions do not interfere with desire and will. The gag reflex is used to protect against chocking. A tiny amount of salt placed on the tip of the tongue can be used to inhibit the reflexive action. Because eating and breathing are connected the development to like or hate certain foods arises if the food tried engages this reflex. A disdain developed in an early age can change into a love at a later age. The sensitivity to trigger a feeling of disgust varies from person to person. Yes, what we ingest and how we ingest as well as our type of appetite involves our personality in the same way as our breathing patterns and how we think. The use of describing Rajas as an acid related sulphur and Tamas as a salt was chosen carefully. These descriptions provide knowledge of how our intention and passion result in changes of a personality. Writers used plant names to describe psychophysiological concepts. The names wormwood, hyssop, and wolfsbane deal with the mind, body, soul, and spirit interfaces. The Goddess Auset (Isis) is given the title "lady of the Sycamore". The effects of the three Gunas on our reincarnation can be understood from this parable. An argument as to which Godhead power should be worshiped either: Brahma, Siva, or Vishnu ensued. The purpose was to decide which logos will descend onto the lower planes. The earth. Although there was a strong motivation to put each of these powers to the test there was fear of being burned. The one asked to perform the test was none other than the son of Brahma. This one is named Bhrigu Muni. The son tested his own father, Brahma, first. When Bhrigu Muni went to his father's house Brahma became overjoyed at seeing his son. Bhrigu Muni chose to test Brahma by ignoring his own farther. He would not acknowledge his father. Brahma became angry but knowing that Bhrigu Muni was his son he did not speak harshly. he was hurt deeply. Brahma has the gift of good intelligence so he knew not to display anger openly. Bhrigu Muni went to test Shiva. When Bhrigu Muni went to the home of Shiva. He was met with overwhelmed joy. Shiva was so happy to see Bhrigu Muni that Shiva put his arms around him and hugged him.Shiva gave him many nice complements. Bhrigu Muni decided to test Shiva by mocking Shiva, calling him nasty names, telling Shiva not to touch his body because Shiva is contaminated by the dead. Shiva is associated with the gift of regeneration. When Shiva experience the hurt, Shiva became angry and tried to attack Bhrigu Muni. Bhrigu Muni went to test Vishnu. Upon reaching the home of Vishnu. Bhrigu Muni decided to surprise him. When he entered he saw Vishnu laying on a couch. Bhrigu Muni ran up to to Vishnu and kicked him very hard. Vishnu did not become angry. He merely picked up Bhrigu Muni and massaged his feet. Vishnu was concerned that his body hurt the feet of Bhrigu Muni. Now something odd happened. Bhrigu Muni began to cry and feel sorry for what he had down to Vishnu. In the testing it was revealed that Vishnu showed goodness and pure love. The effects of hurt by nature involve a complex dance. When offenses no longer affect us we have evolved into a higher form. If we offend the mind, then the result is anger. But no action. This is the display of Tamas. If we offend the spirit the result is unpleasantness. Far more than mental insults. If our feelings are hurt we will give off a fire. This is the display of Rajas. If we offend the body this is a difficulty that cannot be forgiven by the law of nature. Yet despite that the ability to show love and offer forgiveness is a godly power. This is the display of Sattva. The concept of personality is present in tarot, astrology, and kabbalah. In the case of tarot the influence of a card is dictated by its dignity. The assessment is made by the neighboring cards. Well Dignified = The card is strengthen Ill Dignified = The card is weakened Coins = Disks = Pentacles (All these names are equivalent) Cards of the same suit appearing at either side of the card in question strengthen Cards of different suits follow the observation: Swords and Disks are mutually inimical Wands and Cups are mutually inimical Swords are friendly with Cups and Wands Wands are friendly with Swords and Disks A card between two other cards that are mutually contrary will negate their influence. Nature of a card is described as active, or passive. Cards of the same nature on either side strengthen. Cards of the opposite natures on either side weaken. Get to know the family Description of the three gunas modified by the mental elements were released by the efforts of Etteilla. This is the written name for Jean-Baptise Alliete (1738-1791). Subsequent attempts to pick up on the clues offered have focused on the personages of the court cards. Those wise enough understand the reasoning is to match a painting with the gunas. If the 78 tarot cards were displayed in a line the figures take on an appearance of a rope. This rope or serpent analogy describes the purpose of the Tarot. Lets examine some of the descriptions of the court family together. The descriptions have deeper meaning. We can glean different states of behavior and understand the element terminology. The element modifies the modes. The five elements or पञ्चभूत, पञ्चमहाभूत; pañca-mahā-bhūta in Sanskrit. The suit of Wands Agni Prikriti Princess of Wands A young woman with rich brown, or red brown hair and dark eyes. I am told that she is generous and kind. She is impetuous, kind, timid, rather charming, great-hearted, intelligent, melancholy, truthful, yet of many moods. When crossed she is undecided, capricious, foolish, often changeable. Students of the humors will recognize the ill-dignified condition as Sanguine. Prikriti Sattva King of Pentacles A man with dark eyes and dark hair. Unless very well dignified he is heavy, dull, and material. Laborious, clever and patient in material matters. When in ill dignified conditions the king is avaricious, grasping, dull, jealous, not very courageous, unless assisted by other tarot symbols. This descriptions represent reincarnations. The humors can be assigned to the descriptions. The sequences points to the steps of freedom. This can be determined by examining the court cards in their relationship to the zodiac wheel. The domain of a court figure does not follow the intuitive view. The land is divided as the last decan of the preceding sign combined with the first two decans of the following sign. The procession of a court member involves parts of two zodiac signs. To fully comprehend the power of a court figure involves knowledge of the extra-zodiacal constellations. Their meanings on psychology become very important and reveal the knowledge written in the minor arcanum. In the above diagram there is a schematic of the minor arcanum. The description of the court cards is different. This is so to offer instruction on how to correct the tree. After the fall a structure represented by the princess drops because it receives the coarser element named earth. This called the feminine form of existence. It is not merely physical form as misunderstood. This encompasses the mind devoted to a physical world. This means your cognition, moral behavior, psychology, emotions, sensory interpretations, and what we like to call the physical parts of reality. Often fantasy and reality become confused within our ideas of our surroundings. The symbol of Prakriti is a woman. In the design of the Tarot. The princess is drawn as a girl underdeveloped. She has not yet blossomed into womanhood. The court member called the knight rides the horse. This is our Rajas. The knight has a role of uniting with the princess. This union is represented in the major arcana by The Lover, tarot key 6. This key corresponds with Gemini. The 8, 9, 10 of Swords. It is very important to make the observation that the princess suits do not include the knights from the same family under their domains. For example each of the princess domains does not match the suit of the knight: The princess of disks has the knight of swords. The princess of swords has the knight of cups. The princess of cups has the knight of wands. The princess of wands has the knight of disks This condition differs for the court member called the prince. This is our Rajas The generic terms of King, Queen, prince, princess are used to evaluate static stationary conditions. The road to Adeptship demands active change. Nothing ever stands still. It is a convenience for solving problems with limited information. These terms are used to allow path workers access to the mythology of the solar child using the tarot symbology. The names are not intended to confuse workers studying divination. The prince becomes the king. The knight becomes the prince when he marries into the family of the princess. The knight is the hero who replaces the former king once the quests have been fulfilled. By noticing this we can discern in the case of the prince that the suits line up perfectly. The princess of disks has the prince of disks. The princess of swords has the prince of swords. The princess of cups has the prince of cups. The princess of wands has the prince of wands The queens do not line up with their respective suits. The bridge different suits with respect to the domains of the princess. Princess of swords - Princess of disks. Queen of wands 10 cups Pisces 2, 3 wands Aries Princess of swords - Princess of cups. Queen of disks 10 wands Sagittarius 2,3 disks Capricorn Princess of cups - Princess of wands. Queen of swords 10 disks Virgo 2,3 swords Libra Princess of disks - Princess of wands. Queen of cups 10 Gemini 2,3 cups Cancer Notice the disk symbol refers to the pentacles. The disk or pentacle appear on the Magician's table in key 1. The term pentacle indicates the microcosm. This is the lesser or small version. You notice if you study astrology a pattern to the court system. The Queens in each of the four suits when combined make up the cardinal cross for their domains in part involve the zodiacal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. The princes in each of the four suits when combined make up the fixed cross for their domains in part involve the zodiacal signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. The knights in each of the four suits when combined make up the mutable cross for their domains in part involve the zodiacal signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces. The mounting of these crosses hence the experience of the emotions is effected. This is the purification and eventual control achieved. The labors of Heracles does indeed require a journey around the wheel. By considering the zodiacal properties with Rajas, Tamas, and Sattva we are now in a position to explain the mystery of why Éliphas Lévi Zahed included the symbol of Aquarius opposite the Mercury key. The wheel design present in the Waite tarot key 10 The wheel of fortune includes four symbols. They are Mercury, Sulphur, Aquarius, and Salt. The Mercury is related to our Sattva. The Sulphur is related in part to our Rajas. The Salt is related to our Tamas. The Aquarius is related to our prince of Swords. The animal-human chimera welds a sword at the top of the wheel. Our Prince and Knight of Swords from the Marseille Tarot deck. The information of the true meaning of the swords suit can be obtain by formal study of the Marseille designs. The use of swords in seeking futures has been sealed. It is described as misfortune. The real meaning of the swords in hidden away. Among of all the court card design it is these two that have faces placed on their shoulders. Our crowed Prince is associated with the 4 of pentacles 5 of swords, and 6 of swords. This is the the last decan of Capricorn and the first two decans of Aquarius. The constellations are Delphinus (The dolphin), Southern Fish (Piscis Austrinus), and the flying horse Pegasus. The Knight of Swords is associated with the last decan of Taurus 7 of pentacles and the first two decans of Gemini 8 of swords, 9 of swords Understanding the meaning of the zodiac is helpful in esoteric work. The importance of the constellations take on a whole different level of meanings than what is studied in astronomy. When viewed this way new ideas take shape and open closed religious texts. Aries represents the universal principle of Life. Taurus represents divine universal power. The astrological symbol for Taurus contains the unification of a crescent moon with a sun. This shows an underlying principle in occult symbols of using the crescent to indicate the powers of regeneration and resurrection. The importance of resurrection in the mythologies of Osiris and Lazarus demand the zodiacal sign of Taurus Gemini represents Spiritual Man. The union formed when joining Will with Thought. The alchemy symbols of Mercury and Venus are united along with the concepts they represent. Cancer represents the final descent of the Spirit from its divine into a material state by act of creation. Lion represents the divine power. This is used by the Man, when anointed with spiritual knowledge. This allows that anointed Man to rise again up to a conception of his own divine state. Virgo represents the Spiritual Soul in Man and in the Universe. Libra represents the state of Nirvana. Scorpio represents the Desire for Knowledge that draws the Spirit Man into the realm of phenomena. Sagittarius represents the Divine Will to create a new world. Imagination alone is not sufficient but requires efforts of divinity. Capricorn represents the exercise of the constructive power of the universe. The Universal Law of Evolution enters into activity once a new creation emerges. Aquarius The product of imagination acting within the Will is Thought. Water is a symbol of Thought. The whole universe is substantial thought, produced by the will and the imagination. Pisces represents Man being immersed in an ocean of spiritual ideas, and therefore those who are supposed to live in that higher region of spiritual and exalted thought are called episcopes (ἐπίσκοπος). The constellation of Scorpio is partly under the domain of the Prince of Cups. More precisely it involves the last decan of libra and the first two decans of scorpio. This constellation, known as the Scorpion, has the capability to transform into an eagle. The symbolism of the constellation is that of regeneration and the mystery of the renewal of life. The partition of the body reveals the organs involved in reproduction to be under the domain of this zodiac figure. Since this region of the body is always hidden there is a misunderstanding about the symbols. It is described that the temptation of the spirit to come down to earth is the result of the influence of the scorpion. How does the spirit come down to earth when the natural abode is heaven? This is by a rope. The construct of a rope means the gunas. The effects of the gunas are involved in the reincarnations. The series of reincarnations are displayed on the tarot images. Each image is part of the natural law. This law guides the rules of evolution. To be able to independent of the side effects of the gunas is a step in the direction of evolving. The concept of temptation is to entice to achieve knowledge. This card is entitled The Moon. This provides a clue as to the meaning. You must search for the Old English word that Moon comes from. This word is Mona. Think of depth and dimension. The concept of being able to measure. To do so requires light. These are necessary clues to reveal truth. The esoteric names for this tarot are the ruler of flux and reflux. The child of the sons of the mighty. An attempt to divine recommends this tarot to be the show of hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception, error. A reverse reading is instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error. Suggestions to divine originate from twisting the meaning of the esoteric titles. The Kabbalah associates the Hebrew letter for the back of the Hebrew letter drawn as Resh (ר). This reversed picture is Qoph (ק) behaves as an Ape. The key to evolution is to seek the desire for change. You will notice how the two letters appear to be opposite of each other. If they were to be drawn side by side you will see that these give information of evolution. The symbol of a wolf and a hound involve the meaning of the two tempters. One who works in darkness. The other who works in light. A tempter in a garden leads the way to sensation from the brain to the spine. The wolf or large dog is the middle decan of gemini, Canis Major. This constellation always emphasizes the backbone of the animal. The small dog is the final decan of gemini, Canis Minor. This constellation always emphasizes the limbs of the animal. By now you can understand meaning of the painting. The figure in the middle is on a middle path between two tempters. One favors a physical hands on approach. The other a mental spiritual approach. The best is to be in the middle to take advantage of both. Yet the road moves to-and-fro never straight. The tower at the higher ground is the summer solstice. The tower at the lower ground is the winter solstice. The amount of spiritual light is marked by these towers. The path from water leads to the mountain where the crown can be found. The crayfish is the constellation cancer. This is a representation of the figure who emerges from the ark. Divination rules
General observations. The operator should pay careful attention to the effects in their own astral fields. What is observed and understood gives a tighter link to clairvoyance. The gift of Tarot allows the operator to gain entry into the self that does not have a voice but is the most important to yourself. Answers are powerful when you tame your mind. A Majority of any cards could mean something. A partial list of suggestions. To embark and remove the veils leads to understanding the true purpose of the cards. Almost anywhere the cards bring out attention. To seek knowledge the true candidate must refute the assigned meanings and seek the correct meanings. Assigned meanings Wands Energy, opposition, quarrel. Cups Pleasure, merriment. Swords Trouble, sadness, sickness, death. Disks Business, money, possessions. Trumps Strong forces beyond the Querent’s control. Court Cards Society, meetings of many persons. Aces Strength generally. Aces are always strong cards. 4 Aces Great power and force. 3 Aces Riches, success. 4 Knights Swiftness, rapidity. 3 Knights Unexpected meetings. Knights, in general, show news. 4 Queens Authority, influence. 3 Queens Powerful friends. 4 Princes Meetings with the great. 3 Princes Rank and honor. 4 Princesses New ideas or plans. 3 Princesses Society of the young. 4 Tens Anxiety, responsibility. To arrange the 78 cards shows a picture. This of course is the solar child and its return. The designers of the Tarot were clever. many are seeking the stone, but none but a small amount know what the stone actually is. The collection of paintings when arranged correctly provide the instructions for the arrival of deity. The use of cardinal directions are found scattered throughout Holy Books, and temple designs. The careful planning of an altar involves the use of a compass. When to pray and where to pray includes the necessity of consulting not only texts on astronomy but also a compass. Even works devoted to the esoteric science of Magic rituals includes yet again sections on how to chose directions to initiate the sign of the cross. Readers need to be on more intimate terms with directions and not ignore them as they are encountered in written passages. As an example of what I mean consider the following: “And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar ( שִׁנְעָר ); and they dwelt there.” — Genesis xi The word “EAST” means home in esoteric language. We venture forth from home only to return. The dweller in the land of the east is called TRUTH. There are many truths that you encounter in your day to day activities. To go to the east means to seek the esoteric TRUTH. Such truth is all encompassing and supersedes other kinds of truth. To go to the east on your vehicle means thinking in physical mind, mental mind, and spiritual mind. This requires that everyone goes at once. The identifying characteristic of EAST is the concept of LIGHT. To venture away from home is to try to perform your thoughts and ideas on your own. The group stopped at a plain. This means they travelled by going in the downward direction. They came from a Mountain. The terrain changed. The land of the East is at a much higher elevation than that of Shinar. The Hebrew spelling of this word is [ שִׁנְעָר ]. The word means a divided mind. The inhabitants of Shinar believe in Dualism. For every Good effort there must be a Bad effort to sustain balance. This approach produces errors. Travelers from the East would appear strange. Their beliefs are completely different. In the East the Sun shines brightly over that land. In Shinar there are shadows in addition to light. In Shinar the mind practices terror, anxiety, enmity, passion, vehemence, and violence. Shinar works with the number two. Duality, change, separation, and division are possible. Let us look at the other cardinal directions and their meanings. The East direction is attributed to where the Sun begins the new day. The Esoteric term is called Spiritual. The South direction experiences a portion of the Sun’s direct rays. This is the conscious. You experience the conscious when not in sleep/dream states. Therefore in your day to day experience you are aware of this direction. You tend to perceive that South dominates your attentions. Hence you are biased toward the south. The West direction is the physical. The needs and actions and lusts required to serve the physical world come from this direction. This is where the Sun sets. The Heroes move in the direction of the Sun set. This is the completed mind. The Hero is the demi god. Part immortal Part mortal. These HEROES solves the problems created by division. Since you are comfortable with conscious thoughts you may believe to yourself that you are solely a Southern dweller, but you actually spend time facing the West. Taking care of the West is essential to maintain the vehicle and should not be neglected. The North direction is the subconscious. Direct sunlight is not exposed in this direction. It is rare to find buildings with windows in the north. If they are included these windows are different in design from windows looking out in other directions. The land of the dark provides many surprises. The celestial palace of the Lord is in the North. The Lord called Baal in the Canaanite religion has a seat on a mountain in the North. Powerful forces appear from the north. It is from the subconscious where we obtain the ability to use words without consulting a dictionary. The official language of the subconscious is image. The subconscious uses the language of picture instead of words. A hieroglyphic language combines the directions of North with South. All writing and number systems contain within their designs the Arcana of how to unite the directions but this is not realized for the message contained hidden therein is for the awakened soul. The zodiac constellations do more than provide the basis for the structure of physical form. These constellations form the structure of the mind. The East direction is Leo. The element assigned to this channel is Fire. The Hebrew tribe camp is Judah. The South direction is Aquarius. The element assigned to this channel is Air. The Hebrew tribe camp is Ruben. The West direction is Taurus. The element assigned to this channel is Earth. The Hebrew tribe camp is Ephraim. The North direction is Scorpio. The element assigned to this channel is Water. The Hebrew tribe camp is Ruben. The Kaaba stone in Mecca describes the cardinal directions. Each of these directions and their duties are described as above. Our conscious self faces the direction of the star name Canopus. This is the pilot of the ship that holds the soul as the passenger. The star in Arabic is given the name [ سهيل ] Suhayl. “…And by the stars, men guide themselves” from Quran XVI.16 Chapter (16) sūrat l-naḥl (The Bees). The stars relate to the various minds in man. You are far more complex than imagined. Have you ever given any idea where your thoughts originate from? The geometry of the Kaaba [ الكعبة ] is designed to conceal two axes in plain sight. A major and a minor axes. The ratio of the major to minor axes is 8:7. The masonry is arranged so that the minor axes is aligned to summer sun rise and winter sun set according to the latitude of Mecca. The major axes is aligned with the setting stars of Ursa Major and the rising star of Canopus. A detailed description about the meaning of this constellation can be accessed in the Wheel of Fortune reference. It is important to realize that the vehicle itself is parallel with Canopus. This is not a passing fancy. A proscription on the directions reveals interesting astronomy. If you stand so that Banāt Naʿsh (the last three stars of the bear’s tail) set behind you and the star of Canopus rises in front of you. This will ensure that Vega rises at your left ear and sets behind your right ear. The winds of the body will then correspond as follows: The East wind is at the left eye. The north wind is behind the left ear. The west wind is behind the right ear and the south wind is at the right side. This juxtaposition gives you a mental view of the north west wall. How does viewing a specific wall aid us in working with our thoughts? The act of combining the forces from North and from the West introduces concepts from the subconscious into the physical mind that in normal thought without any intentional exercises leads to a weaken state. A mind dictated by physicality alone works without any options. Very little subconscious input is provided. New ideas are not welcome. The four winds at the cardinal positions are the energies released by the four centers of the lower self. This is a lower cross. The winds can blow gently and can blow destructively if not controlled. The action of the control is given to the guardians. Every tradition has a name for the respected guardian. They are assign positions on the cardinal axes. The four lower centers are the sacral nerves, the prostate nerves, the epigastric nerves, and the cardiac nerves. The use of the names and the designs in art have a controlling influence over the tempers. The guardians are always described in terms of seasons and controlling the weather. The Chinese name 風調雨順 [ Fēng Tiáo Yǔ Shùn ] describes good weather for crops. Favorable precipitation makes an agreeable person. Hence the personality is guided by the weather. The Cathedral is designed to be the Egyptian Cross in building form. The Ankh was the intended model. The designers wanted to provide instructions for alchemy to be carried out by those who venture fourth into the Cathedral. Being caught up in the world and lost in affairs prevents the opportunity from taking up the free knowledge being offered. The design allows the meeting of the compass directions to take place. It is here that north can meet west freely in a state of grace. East can be with west just as west can unify with east. Here imagination can be properly applied with benefits. The hieroglyph of the cross or Crux is the alchemical crucible. By proper mixing, the individual parts of the mind can unite. Without mixing we work alone with our hands tied being our back. An unfair advantage. The impurities of false assumptions can be driven off leaving behind true objects of higher value. The thoughts based on correct values. The cross architecture of the cathedral allows the mixing of the four portions of the mind by conscious efforts. It is here that Gold can be struck from the vessel. This is called the crossing. The apse represents the curved portion of the ankh. This apse distinguishes the East direction from all the other directions. The length of the body is represented as the head in the East and the feet in the West with the outstretched arms facing North and South. The hands metaphorically represent the subconscious and the self conscious. Just as a team. If the hands work together then the two minds can learn to work together. The Crux Ansate is the Egyptian Ankh. The structure of the ankh reveals the four parts of mind of East West North and South. The direction of East contains the curved region. East = Spiritual, West = Physical. The needs and Lusts, North = Subconscious, South = Self Conscious. The land of emotion. The windows were designed to allow the active process of heating in a vessel. By examining the pictures in the rose windows the step by step procedures of alchemy could be carried out. The reason for the rose is to display the cyclic nature of the constellations involved in these processes. Hence the correcting of faulty perceptions can be achieved and the conversion of lead and iron into silver and gold can be achieved. The rose provides the fire. Only the emblem of the rose represents the action of fire and its duration. The movement of matter is stirred up by the convection of heat from fire. This means the direct action of your intellect on the problem of becoming. The rose window from the north transept never receives light directly from the Sun. This is arranged by how the cathedral is orientation with respect to the directions of a compass. By placing yourself at the center square indicated by the center cross or X you are in the center of the crucible. If visible efforts are made the use of the crucible could be employed. This is one of the secrets of temple plaining. The procedures have to be carried out by the alchemist rather than being present for a specific task. A visitor may note the art but fail to obtain any helpful impressions. A cross is topologically equivalent to a Cube. The directions assist the Holy city of Jerusalem. The positions are used to arrange the properties of the constellations. Each of the asterisms has a picture assigned. The symbols in the picture indicate the potential of change. Every stage in conscious development is aided by pictures. By hanging such emblems around you will aid in your studies. The tools we use are symbols forged in art. The emblems drawn on the shields provide a certain focus of attention. The arrangement in the picture above is based on Numbers 2:1-34. Toward the east the viewer is directed to enlightenment. From Left to Right beginning with the animal under the sun and moon. The night and day is labeled Issachar. This is Cancer. In the center the shield is that of a lion on hind feet. This is a lion in advanced evolution. He is labeled Judah. This is Leo. Next the shield has a ship. This labeled Zebulon. This bears the enclosed precious cargo. Therefore this must be cancer. A clockwise rotation towards the southern direction allows us to examine three shields. They are from top to bottom a castle, a kneeling figure, and group of armies. The castle is labeled Simon. This is Pisces. The figure of a man on this shield is labeled Ruben. This is the water bearer. This constellation is known as Aquarius. The shield with the image of two armies can also be seen with an image of a tent. This is labeled Gad. This is Aries. Another turn of ninety degrees and the viewer has a glimpse of the West. There are three shields with animals on each. The shield with the bull is labeled Manasseh. The shield with the unicorn is labeled Ephraim. Combined together these images represent the constellation of Taurus. The shield of the wolf is labeled Benjamin. This is Gemini. A rotation of another ninety degrees brings the viewer to the direction of the North. The shield of a tree is labeled Asher. This is Sagittarius. The shield of a Eagle is labeled Dan. Another image for this shield is a serpent. This is the constellation of Scorpius. The shield of a deer is labeled Naphtali. This is Capricorn. The Menorah in the center is labeled Levi. This is Libra. Being in the center the different energies produce from each of the star patterns can be balanced and controlled in Libra. Described as a pair of empty scales yet its symbol shows a sun on a horizon. The scales are drawn empty because the original contents has been removed. The constellation originally was a altar with a burning flame. The glyph of Libra shows this flame rising from the horizontal line. The flame relates to a fire. The life giving flame of the sun matches this symbol. The power of the sun allows plants to ripen their fruits especially grapes can be prepared and are suitable to be used to make wine. This glyph relates meaning to the function of the constellation. Here depending on the direction the sun rises and the sun sets. When the sun transits through Libra the sun crosses the celestial equator. This is one of the crucifixions. The second one is in Gemini. The autumn month is the time for harvesting the fruits of our labors. The construction of the universe begins with elements. Thus this cube of space starts with the construction of three mutually perpendicular axis. These are labeled one of Fire and one of Water. These two axis are codependent upon a third axis. That is of Air. The orientation of the cube has the axis of water facing the viewer. The axis of fire is parallel with the eyes of the viewer. That means intuition and mental activity the waking conscious strengths can be called upon with little effort. The cube of space is a learning tool. The axis of air connects the top and bottom regions. It is for this reason that intellect can achieve a bridge to the worlds of conscious and subconscious. Information about the Tarot can be obtained from the Sepher Yetizirah. The path numbers come from the book and refer to modes of consciousness. To access the mode take the indicated passage and match the passage with the specific tarot key. If you examine carefully the planet designations and element names are used as a guide. The passages must be combined with the Taro image to have any effect. A patient scrutiny will reveal not only the higher meanings of the taro paintings but will also shed light upon yourself. Remember their is no Royal Road to knowledge. I wish you All well in your pursuits for knowledge and in the Great Work. Air is the 11th path. The Eleventh Path is the Scintillating Intelligence because it is the essence of that curtain which is placed close to the order of the disposition, and this is a special dignity given to it that it may be able to stand before the Face of the Cause of Causes. Water is the 23rd path. The Twenty-third Path is the Stable Intelligence, and it is so called because it has the virtue of consistency among all numerations. Fire is the 27th path. The Twenty-seventh Path is the Exciting Intelligence, and it is so called bemuse by it is created the Intellect of all created beings under the highest heaven, and the excitement or motion of them. A cube can be drawn with the dimension of unit length. Placing this cube to coincide with the origin of the three mutually perpendicular axes. The structure would look like thus. Remember the cube is three dimensional equivalent of a cross, and a cross is a representation of the human figure with the arms raised and feet close together. At the origin of the cube the symbol of Earth and Saturn is placed. These four keys relate what in hermeticism is called the elements. We can label these elements with more descriptive terminology. The Earth is the physical realm of thinking. The Air is our astral plane. The Fire is our mental plane. The Water is our intuition plane. The object for the Soul is for her to free herself from all the connections to the elements in all bodily structures. The orthogonal display of the planes in a Cube is intended to relate to the viewer that all of this is governed by the laws of nature. This is why you will find angles of 90 degrees prominently. This is tied to ( צדקה ) Tzedakah. The meaning of Righteousness for a container tells us how we must view ourselves if we want to begin this work. Our containers must be willing to achieve 90 degrees. Just as a cube. A cross in the shape of a human figure after all can be arranged into a cube. Reflect upon this and you will be greatly benefited. Saturn and Earth along with Air act as a conduit between Mercury and Moon. These are quite different relationships that can be gleaned from arranging the tarot on the tree of life diagrams. From the cube orientation we can learn that the immersion of the Magician into the Great sea of Binah ( בינה ) requires the fall through air. There is no vacuum. The first path is associated with a crown that is placed above your head. The First Path is called the Admirable or the Concealed Intelligence (The Highest Crown) - for it is the Light giving the power of comprehension of that First Principle which has no beginning, and it is the Primal Glory, for no created being can attain to its essence. The third path is assigned with the Goddess. It is a a great sea. How a Goddess is born is by way of water. Aphrodite is born when the fecundity of heaven fell from the sky and landed into the sea. Splash. This is an important clue as to the function and purpose of the third trinity known to a sacred few, who are wise and friends with wisdom, as Binah. The Third Path is the Sanctifying Intelligence, and is the basis of foundation of Primordial Wisdom, which is called the Former of faith, and its roots, Amen; and it is the parent of Faith, from which virtues doth Faith emanate. The path associated with The Fool is path 11. The Eleventh Path is the Scintillating Intelligence because it is the essence of that curtain which is placed close to the order of the disposition, and this is a special dignity given to it that it may be able to stand before the Face of the Cause of Causes. The path of The Magician is number 12. The Twelfth Path is the Intelligence of Transparency, because it is that species of Magnificence., called CHAZCHAZIT, which is named the place whence issues the vision of those seeing in apparitions. (That is, the prophecies by seers in a vision.) Of course we must pass through Saturn. This agriculture God is denoted by the Tarot marked the World or Universe in some decks. To view and study the final Greater Arcanum requires us TO BE SILENT. The Thirty-second Path is the Administrative Intelligence, and it is so called because it directs and associates, in all their operations, the seven planets, even all of them in their own due courses. Saturn is the bases for three mutually perpendicular axis. Hence 6 tarot keys involve Saturn directly. A key to opening the closed doors of the mind requires a concentrated effort to learn what the World has to offer. Examine the Rebis carefully. From this your efforts will be well rewarded and will assist you in learning how to apply the cube of space in your studies. Saturn and Earth along with Water serve as a channel between Jupiter and Venus. This means that by suspending thought and assuming a form combining the best aspects of spirit and soul in the flesh it is possible to transform Venus into Jupiter and Jupiter into Venus according to a cubical structure. Saturn and Earth along with Fire can aid in the transformation of Sun into Mars and Mars into Sun. These transformations will become useful in time. For now it is important to identify the transformations that are possible on a cube. The directions of the cube of space with the tarot locations omitted for clarity. The functions of subconscious are presented at the bottom of the cube. This assignment is unique and differs to other schemes. By placing them below the viewer's optical horizon there is a force to avoid a downward glance. This requires overcoming the desire and reluctance to study the tarot paintings associated with the subconscious. Hence in the design there actually is a need for the viewer to overcome the discomfort in looking. Pacing the cube above the horizon line would make this subject of study easier. A model of a solid cube circumvents this. Otherwise making perspective drawings of a cube in different orientations can greatly assist the student and operator when studying the cube of space. The planets of Mercury and Moon share a common axis of Air. Why is Saturn placed at the center? We could point out that work must be performed on the earth by each of the seven planetary powers, but there is more information that will be required by an aspiring adept. Saturn is ascribed to lead. This is the lower self. The aspirations of your conscious self along with all the other bags which you are carrying. whether you perceive this or not? How the soul gains her freedom is by mediation. This activity is really "the control" of the mind and is symbolized by The Magician key number 1. This is the quicksilver. The Mercury performs as a magician the transformation of lead into gold. The astrological rulership of Mercury in Virgo is the Intuition of the Higher Self. This is way key 9 labeled The Hermit is the tarot marker for Virgo. The word Hermit actually means Hermes. This is the Greek word for Mercury. Thus the ruler of Libra the lower self Saturn undergoes the allegorical transformations through the decans of Libra becoming the future ruler of Leo namely the Sun. This astrological symbolism is the Gold of the Spirit and hence leader of the Higher Self. The reason why The High Priestess key 2 is placed below Saturn is described in Zechariah 5:7. The cover of Lead was Raised, and their in the basket sat a woman. The basket is the vessel which holds something. The woman is the Soul. Now we can begin to understand the design and purpose of the Tarot. The lead of Saturn is the materialistic nature of the Lower Self. The ability to cause change comes from the energies provided by the woman. The High Priestess represents this source of fire provided from the Soul. The resulting spark and fire comes below from the loins. This serpentine fire is the action of purifying the lead. Thus under the guidance of the Christ Consciousness in Mercury Saturn is purified. This is why the keys are arranged in a vertical position of The Magician, The Universe, and The High Priestess from top to bottom. The rising fire in the bottom meets with the light at the top. The planets of Mars, Sun and Jupiter, Venus are constrained on the North South and West East directions. The water channel reflects Jupiter ruler of the cosmic sea (Pisces) and the association of Venus as The Great Mother. Venus is exalted in Pisces and represents the Virgin mother in Pisces. The water channel also indicates a way to connect directly with the paths representing keys 10 and 3. The application of suspended thought in the state of ( समाधि ) Samdhi. This is indicated by the halo around the figure of The Hanging Man. The reason the figure is described as hanging implies suspension. The use of green alive foliage on a wooden cross points to the meaning of surrendering the Lower Ego for the Greater Good. This is the fee required to allow the powers of Venus unite with the powers of Jupiter. Separately they are not as effective. In the fire channel (key 20 not shown) the powers of Mars are used to ignite the Sun. The purifying power results in removing the undesired dross. By comparing all six planet cards surrounding the seventh Saturn card we can see a pattern of dual relationships. The goal is to free the dependence upon the elements. In order to do so the planetary influences are needed by what is called Rays. Sun is the 30th path. The Thirtieth Path is the Collecting Intelligence, and is so called because Astrologers deduce from it the judgment of the Stars, and of the celestial signs, and the perfections of their science, according to the rules of their revolutions. Mars is the 27th path. The Twenty-seventh Path is the Exciting Intelligence, and it is so called bemuse by it is created the Intellect of all created beings under the highest heaven, and the excitement or motion of them. Jupiter is the 21st path. The Twenty-first Path is the Intelligence of Conciliation, and is so called because it receives the divine influence which flows into it from its benediction upon all and each existence. Venus is the 14th path. The Fourteenth Path is the Illuminating Intelligence, and is so called because it is itself that CHASHMAL which is the founder of the concealed and fundamental ideas of holiness and of their stages of preparation. The Moon is the 13th path. The Thirteenth Path is named the Uniting Intelligence and is so called because it is itself the essence of Glory. It is the Consummation of the Truth of individual spiritual things. Mercury is the 12th path. The Twelfth Path is the Intelligence of Transparency, because it is that species of Magnificence., called CHAZCHAZIT, which is named the place whence issues the vision of those seeing in apparitions. (That is, the prophecies by seers in a vision.) The intelligences of consciousness if properly understood provide different parts of a single source. These intelligences or vibrating modes are produced when interacting with different topologies. They are of interest to us as 22 statements mapped to 22 Tarot paintings. If three intelligences share a common point in a geometric figure that indicates a fourth intelligence relates to the three. Such can be observed in the eight vertices of a cube. Therefore there are more relations that have not been examined. These point to the further development just as the individual may if wished to do so to develop their own nature further. One such geometry suitable to study is the Holy City of Jerusalem. This is known as the Cube of Space. It is important and can provide insight into the Tarot. It helps very much to draw your own cube and arrange the pictures as shown. Different three dimensional polygons can be utilized, not just a cube. By assigning tarot keys to sides and faces more information can be learned about the tarot. The pictures on each key were created with the intent that new arrangements would be employed rather than examining only one key at a time as has been the custom and habit. The following examples use the Rider-Waite deck. Designed by Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith in 1909. By no means this tarot must be used. Any unique tarot can be applied. By doing so information specific to that tarot deck be discovered. The Major Arcana can be placed at certain positions in the cube. By combining several arcana in one arrangement the individual images form a much larger image. Notice the light power blue color in the three Tarot of The Fool, The World, and The High Priestess. In The High Priestess picture the design is inverted from that of the The Fool. The yellow color appears on the bottom of the black and grey pillars. The Fool: key 0 is path 11 and is called the Scintillating Intelligence, it is so called because it is the essence of that curtain which is placed close to the order of the disposition, and this is a special dignity given to it that it may be able to stand before the Face of the Cause of Causes. The World: key 21 is path 32 and is the Administrative Intelligence, it is so called because it directs and associates the motions of the seven planets, directing all of them in their own proper courses. The High Priestess: key 2 is path 13 and is the Uniting Intelligence, it is so called because it is itself the Essence of Glory. It is the Consummation of the Truth of individual spiritual things. The Judgement Tarot key also has the same blue background. The background shows a cold background. The design relates change in dimensionality. The objects no longer live in perspective of receding small and smaller sizes. Now the objects have the freedom to move in the upward direction from a square like three dimensional parallelepiped to a four dimensional sphere drawn above. This image of fire is intimately related to the The World key. The Judgement key is the North-South axis. The world key (also called the Universe key) is at the origin of the three central axes. Just as in a person the entrance to heaven is inside. The key to the universe can only be found within the cube. The center figure in the world does not reveal the true nature of the gender. The information is wrapped in a fabric shaped in the trace of a serpent. The orientation of the figure represents the alchemy sulphur with the triangle facing the eagle and the man. The Judgement: key 20 is path 31 and is the Perpetual Intelligence, it is so called because it regulates the motions of the Sun and Moon in their proper order, each in an orbit convenient for it. Note Sun and Moon mentioned in the passage do not refer to the tarot paintings. The arcana associated with the cardinal directions of the cube all contain yellow. Notice how the picture named The Sun is positioned at the South face. The East is ruled by the Empress. This seated figure is associated with the Goddess of Love and in the picture we can see the alchemical key of Venus. The eastern direction is blessed with fertility. The Northern face holds the picture of The Tower. This image lacks any vegetation. The Tower: key 16 is path 27 the Exciting (Active) Intelligence, and it is so called because through it every existent being receives its spirit and motion. The Empress: key 3 is path 14 the illuminating intelligence, and it is so called because it is that Brilliant One which is the founder of the concealed and fundamental ideas of holiness and of their stages of preparation. The Sun: key 19 is path 30 the Collecting Intelligence, and it is so called because Astrologers deduce from it the judgement of the Stars, and of the celestial signs, and perfection of their science, according to the rules of their resolutions. The Wheel of Fortune: key 10 is path 21 the Intelligence of Conciliation, and it is so called because it receives the divine influence which flows into it from its benediction upon all and each existence. The Hanged Man connects the West and East faces along the West-East axis. The man that represents inverted sulphur also contains signs of life the green vegetation lingers along the horizontal wooden axis. The Hanged Man: key 12: is path 23 the Stable Intelligence, and is so called because it has the virtue of consistency among its numeration. The Western face is viewed by the reader. Here there is The Wheel of Fortune. There is no plant life. There is much life occurring. The image represents the different bodily functions of digestion, Anabolism, Catabolism [East: Air: Man: Mesti], Respiration, [South: Fire: Jackel: Duamutef] Blood production, Blood purification [West: Earth: Hawk: Qebhsenef], and Waste elimination [North: Water: Ape: Hapi]. The four animal figures represent these bodily functions. They are the four Genii. In later Egypt they are called the sons of Horus. In Christianity they are called the Tertamorph Evangels. They are names Man: Matthew, Eagle: John, Bull: Luke, Lion: Mark. Due to the fact that the West is physical mind then the placement of the wheel in the West makes a lot of sense. Here the point of mental control over bodily function is at this face of the cube. The inner wheel provides instructions when rotated. The words constructed can be used in interfacing with the physical mind. Automatic thoughts no longer have to be considered beyond your own reach. The Hebrew letter ( כ ) means to grasp knowledge just as your grasp objects with your hand. Observing is a lesson taught by these pictures. By perusal of these works one can realize they all show the same mountain in different perspectives. With each view the color cast upon the mountain is different. This indicates different positions of the sun in the sky. All of these pictures contain vegetation. The use of Yellow and White dominate. Strength: key 8 is path 19 the Intelligence of all the Activities of the Spiritual Beings, and it is so called because of the affluence diffused by it from the most high blessing and most exacted sublime glory. The Lovers: key 6 is path 17 the Disposing Intelligence which provides Faith to the Righteous, and they are clothed with the Holy Spirit by it, and it is called the Foundation of Excellence in the state of higher things. The Star: key 17 is path 28 the Natural Intelligence , and is so called because through it is consummated and perfected the Nature of every existing thing beneath the Sun . Temperance: key 14 is path 25 The Intelligence of Probation or is Tentative, and is so called because it is primary temptation, by which the creator trieth all righteous persons The figures in each of these pictures are all related to the top of the mountain. The snow covered land is observed in the fool picture. The color is different from The Hermit. A bright yellow tint to the air is replaced by a cool light blue. The only yellow is emitted from the lantern and the staff. In earlier pictures of the tarot the hermit is lead on by a serpent. The floor of the cube is the subdued colors of grey and black. Strength: key 8 is path 19 the Intelligence of all the Activities of the Spiritual Beings, and it is so called because of the affluence diffused by it from the most high blessing and most exacted sublime glory. The Emperor: key 4 is path 15 The Constituting Intelligence, so called because it constitutes the substance of creation in pure darkness, and men have spoken of these contemplations; it is that darkness spoken of in Scripture, Job xxx-viii. 9. “and thick darkness a swaddling band for it.” The Hermit: key 9 is path 20 the Intelligence of Will and it is so called because it is the means of preparation of all and each created being, and by this intelligence the existence of the Primordial Wisdom becomes known. Justice key 11 is path 22 the Faithful Intelligence, and it is so called because by it spiritual virtues are increased, and all dwellers on earth are nearly under its shadow . In these arcana the common colors shared are White, Yellow, Grey and Black. Even the floor intersection shared by the East cannot be veiled in total darkness. The light of the sun provides illumination to the sky of the Chariot. The Chariot provides the introduction to the Supreme Spiritual Self. Even though The Moon is feared by its outer appearance at first glance. The misunderstanding of the image fades away when the picture decorates the southern floor. The floor is the entrance to the Chthonic ( χθόνιος ) Gods. In psychology the floor shares the functions of the subconscious. It is important to point out that the images of The Death and The Devil share a common vertex. This point is the intersection of the south floor, south west, and west floor. The Devil picture is not completely devoid of plants. There are grapes. The drawing shows the potential for the number three. This is displayed in the design. This particular Tarot arcanum 15 is not yet. Not yet because the flame on top of the head has not been lit. This is represented by the torch being held in the downward grasp. The flame can be lit and is about to be lit, but the painting cannot do this alone. This must involve the viewer. To reach the ceiling of the cube from the floor requires a source. This fire is in the bowels of the earth. The Hermit: key 9 is path 20 the Intelligence of Will and it is so called because it is the means of preparation of all and each created being, and by this intelligence the existence of the Primordial Wisdom becomes known. The Chariot: key 7 is path 18 the House of Influence [thus by the greatness of whose abundance the influx of good things upon created beings is increased], and from the midst of the investigation the arcana and hidden senses are drawn forth, which dwell in its shade and which cling to it from the cause of all causes. The Devil: key 15 is path 26 the Renovating Intelligence because the Holy God renews by it all the changing things which are renewed by the creation of the world. The Moon: key 18 is path 29 the Corporeal Intelligence, so-called because it forms every body which is formed beneath the whole set of worlds and the increment of them. The key labeled as Death is interesting because the images contain elements present in the other keys. The river in the background provides the water present in The Moon and The Star. The seated figure in the Hierophant stands and is cast in Yellow. The two towers and the Canines drawn in the Moon can be seen in the middle right with a Sun between the towers. The howling animals can just be made out by there silhouettes. The designs of the images make Grey the common color. These four arcana define the four edges of the Grey square. Death: key 13 is path 24 the Imaginative Intelligence, and is so called because it gives a likeness to all the similitudes which are created in like manner similar to its harmonious elegancies. The Star: key 17 is path 28 the Natural Intelligence, and is so called because through it is consummated and perfected the Nature of every existing thing beneath the Sun. The Hierophant: key 5 path 16 is the Triumphal or Eternal Intelligence so called because it is the pleasure of the Glory, beyond which there is no other Glory like to it, and it is also the Paradise prepared for the righteous. The Moon: key 18 is path 29 the Corporeal Intelligence, so-called because it forms every body which is formed beneath the whole set of worlds and the increment of them. The Mountains and Seas Classic ( 山海經 ) is a very important piece of literature. The painting above is the Spirit governing Earth. Figures displaying the powers present in the directions provide higher understanding This can be achieved if the aspirant decides to make their up mind to learn what these chimera diagrams represent. Taken on face value the uninitiated will continue to be clueless. Therefore every cardinal direction contains a population of deities. Each deity has a name assigned and a image. The designs were made by careful planning. Each portion plays a role in understanding the complete concept of a specific direction. Taking only a part of the design will not provide any information. The complete picture must be taken in full. A hierarchy for the population exists just as it does for the spirit world. The celestial hierarchical orders of Seraphim, Kerubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, Angels is not the only hierarchy. There is also guardian, star, and emperor. The guardian spirits are drawn as chimeras. These are the governors for each element and are assigned to watch the cardinal directions. Without these wise governors your thoughts can be flooded. The desired amounts of the elements can be utilized without the danger of excess. The guardian Gou mang ( 句芒 ) of the East. The element is wood, and the first three lunar months are the spring season. The guardian Zhu rong ( 祝融 ) of the Summer season. The element is Fire. The Summer season is 4, 5, and 6 lunar months. The guardian Ru shou ( 蓐收 ) of the West. The element is Metal. The autumn season is the 7 8 9 lunar months. The guardian Xuan ming ( 玄冥 ) of the North. The element is water. The winter season is the 10 11 12 months. In addition to the guardians there are Emperors for each direction. In the East there is Tai hao ( 太昊 ). This is the ruler of the Green star ( 青星 ). To the South is Yan di ( 炎帝 ). The ruler of the red star ( 红星 ). At the end of the sixth lunar month the position corresponds to the middle of the four seasons. The element is earth. This element is at the center of the four cardinal directions. The jurisdiction of earth is under Huang di ( 黃帝 ) the Yellow Emperor. This emperor rules the yellow star ( 黄星 ). The guardian of the center direction is Gou long ( 句龍 ). The guardian spirit of the earth. The West is Shao hao ( 少昊 ). This emperor rules the white star ( 白星 ). The North direction is under Zhuan xu ( 顓頊 ). This is the ruler of the black star ( 黑星 ). The stars are the nerve psychic centers. These need to be in proper control for successful growth. Unbalance causes distraught, angst, misery. Feelings of mania, depression, and strong well are observed. The building up and introducing the rulers and guardians were sought to reverse and cure illness. The information was intended to exceed the mundane of maintaining the outward appearance. The idea of a modern society removed the mind from the cosmos and forced the person to feel victimized by forces behind their control. By deciding to not be a machine and learn about your cosmos this ignorance washes away. Each portion of the body maps to different thinking. Errors in thinking can be removed if the elements are first balanced so that the stars do not err in conflict. The purpose is to rule the stars and not be ruled by the stars.
This design offers clues to the seasons, the motion of the constellations, and in addition, to metabolism and respiration. The Wheel of Fortune paintings were frequently made during the medieval period. Now they turn up in tarot designs from time to time.
I have been ask to explain the meanings behind this type of painting. The concept is intriguing. If the reader is up to the task then much can be learned. The reasonings behind the painting are many and cover a wide range of disciplines. In a wheel of fortune painting we may find a figure of a woman beside the wheel. She appears to be involved in turning this wheel. Who is this woman? Previous scholarly attempts to understand this design assumed that their origin could be traced to the Roman period. To find the answer we have to look further into the past. We must examine the artifacts from Egypt. The land of the Khem. Subsequent paintings of a lady and her wheel appeared in the manuscripts of western Europe from the mid 1200 (13th century). The style of the designs changed as the mediums used altered from illuminations to oils to wood cut ink prints. Such efforts can be found up to 1500. Therefore the wheel made be seen in works made during the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. Later wheel paintings appeared, but not as frequently. One example was in the 19th century. The artist Edward Burne-Jones created a wheel of fortune painting in 1883.
The astrological relationships of the seasonsThe wheel of fortune provides a unique view of the seasons on the earth as they appear. Just from the painting alone a glimpse of a yearly cycle can be experienced. This information also provides the necessary knowledge required to understand the origin of these pictures.
The four figures on the wheel represent the four positions of the solstices and equinoxes.
In the illumination above we can come to realize what the action of the wheel demonstrates. The figure wearing robes and sports a crown is located at the position when the solar solstice occurs. The figure directly below the royal one is a figure stretched horizontally with very little clothing. The position of this poor figure is where the winter solstice occurs. Once these two markings are understood then the clarity of the diagram can be fathomed. The figures placed on the left and right of the painting depend on the rotation and orientation of the wheel. The figure said to rise by the “eye” is in the process of becoming. To arise from sleep is an event that happens in spring. The effect can be understood if you compress and spring and then release the spring. The object increases its size. A figure on its way up toward the crowed figure wearing the robes represents the spring equinox. This figure is placed on the upper left corner. If we look at the lower right hand corner we see a figure on the way down. This one is falling. The fall is a way to describe autumn. This falling is the position of the autumn equinox. Every gesture discerned in these paintings offers information. The mind often ignores subtle features. A determined effort is necessary. Note the positions of the hands and the objects that each figure holds onto.
Carving of constellations originally found in the Hathor temple near Dendera
The constellation designs depicted are estimated from 30 BCE. This is during the Greek Roman influence in Egypt. The circumpolar constellations retain their Egyptian designs. This can be determined because the picture for Libra is that of a balance. A much older form of this constellation was that of an Altar. The stone containing these carvings was installed in the ceiling of the Hathor temple near Dendera (1.6 miles south east). This temple work is suspected to been constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty period (305BCE to 30 BCE). It is possible older versions of the temple exist near this site. Some of the designs may not be familiar. Those of the zodiac can be easily identified with what is currently in use. The figure of Aquarius has two vessels each and pours them both simultaneously. The numerous smaller figures at the circumference of the wheel are the decans for the corresponding zodiac members. The figure near the center of the wheel concerns this article. To the left side of what resembles the leg of a large animal is a female water pig. The picture shows the pig standing on its paws and has a tail. The right arm holds an object.
Close up of the polar axis constellations. These are of Ox leg and a female pig (Sow)
A closer view of the carving gives a better view. The goddess named Rerit is pictured as a sow (IPA: /saʊ/ ) rhymes like cow. This deity provided nourishment for the first man of the Egyptian creation mythology. This representation is preserved in different cultures through time for Rerit is described as rotating around the celestial pole. The object being held is related to the turning of the this polar axis. The same turning is shown in the wheel of fortune paintings of a human woman. The use of animal chimeras to describe forces were later replaced with the sculptured form of human figures. In the orient temples still contain a mixture of human and totem animals. In the west older forms of chimeric figures exist in the least traveled porches of Gothic cathedrals. The meaning of this symbols are preserved waiting for the faithful to unlock the knowledge that is in these figures. Art from much older times are only preserved in drawings and a modern world cannot understand them. Their meaning requires more thought and a willingness to ask questions. This means breaking free from literal translations.
A carving of the deity. She is described as the lady of heaven. This figure is also found in astronomical ceiling map in the tomb of Senemut. The image can be found here . In this image the male consort of the goddess is represented as a crocodile placed upon the back of the goddess figure. The estimated period of this work is 1463 BCE.
The connection to the organs
The representation of Rereit is depicted as a chariot. This use of a chariot is not by chance. Nor is it a coincidence that the word appears in many places. The Bhagavad Gita (Song of God) begins with a conversation being held between Krishna and Arjuna in a chariot. This is the same chariot as Rereit. One can discern from the role of the chariot how the heavenly mother sustains and maintains. Other names are also besides chariot. Some are wagon, plow, drinking gourd, ladle, cup, and big dipper. Such names are given to the asterism of the constellation of Ursa Major. By the location of these stars with respect to Polaris the season can be identified.
Note Asterism = recognizable pattern of stars, Ursa Major = Great Bear constellation
These seven stars of the constellation are assigned to different organs of the body. The chart below shows the name of the star and the corresponding part of the body. Alcor and Mizar can be seen with binoculars.
Table relating the stars of the big dipper to the parts of the body. Notice how two stars appear for the kidneys.
Each of these stars in addition to having an art representation also has spiritual intelligences. They are depicted as well. The designs are well thought out. Below is an example. The figures in their costume have their names indicated in the last row.
This print is from the Taishō shinshü daizōkyō (大正新脩大藏經)
Here each of these figures are the assigned intelligences for each of the stars in the constellation. Other representations are possible. Drawn in this scheme as seven women. The seven intelligences are from right to left. They are as follows. 1 Heart 贪狼 (Tan lang), 2 Lungs 巨门 (Ju men), 3 Liver 禄存 (Lu cun), 4 Spleen 文曲 (Wen qu), 5 Stomach 廉贞 Lian zhen, 6 Kidneys 武曲 (Wu qu) and 天府 (tian fu) This is the smaller male scholar figure, and 7Eyes 破军 (Po jun). How do these assignments related to mental behavior? There are five systems which operate through 5 of the organs. These are heart, lungs, liver, spleen, and the kidneys. 1 The intuitive approach and the major task of supervising how the mind and body will respond is assigned to the heart. 2 The ability to react toward stimulus by basic instincts relay on the lungs. 3 The property of self awareness and self control is related through the Liver. 4 The two processes of remembering and thinking occur with the spleen. 6 Memory is accessed through the kidney. A discipline of divination called 紫微斗数 (Zi wei dou shu) uses these seven stars along with other stars and planets. A brief description in both English and Chinese can be found here. The importance is not to take the literal meaning of the names when studying their exact purpose. An advance source on the big dipper stars and their role in control of body and mind is found in a Ming dynasty manuscript 無上三天玉堂正宗高奔內景玉書. The English has been described as “The precious text of flying high in the inner landscape of the correct tradition of the jade hall of the supreme three heavens”. This work contains some wood block prints, which can be studied in the link provided above. Estimated to be published in 1445 C.E. The title implies the work involves the organs and proper functioning. The inner landscape means heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, muscle, bone, and so on.
Doumu The Mother of the Great chariot
Another version of the turner of the wheel. The name in Chinese is Mother of the Great Chariot (斗母元君 ). The great chariot is of course your body. In pin yin this is Dǒumǔ Yuánjūn. The word in English is Dou mu for short. In addition for the visible stars there invisible ones as well. They cast a black light that does not shine. The intelligences of these stars are given descriptive names. These are referred to as Nine yin who serve the emperor. They are used in the construction of the diaphanous bodies. Outwardly there are prayers directed to these Nine yin. They are described to grant the powers of invisibility. Such information exists in warrior training manuscripts. Esoterically these are designed to allow the Great Work to proceed in building of the higher vehicles. In western hermeticism such vehicles are referred to as the planets and elements.
The progress of evolution
The design is from the 12th century and is found inserted at the end of a 10th century manuscript called the Moralia in Job. A english translation of the manuscript is available here. Why the picture was included is not known. The words in the picture are Regno (I Reign), regnaui (I have reigned), Sum sine regno (I am without reign), Regnabo (I shall reign) and fortuna (fortune). Pay attention to this design. The rotation sense is counter clockwise and the figure holding the handle uses the right hand to control the wheel motion. The left hand holds a sword.
The tarot makes use of this image currently. This one from Italy does not show our lady explicitly at the controls. It is the tarot that preserves the artist contributions to the wheel of fortune. The crowned figure has lightening bolts and a cornucoppia. It also has wings. Those wings are also present in the Marseille tarot as well. The position of the tarot key 10 (Roman numeral X) is marked as corresponding to the Greek Zeus, or Roman Jupiter. This is a planetary star. The star has many uses if understood properly. First to introduce the concept we will focus on Jupiter’s pivotal role on the the Microprosopus (Small face). The Greek is Mikros Prosopon ( μικρος πρόσωπα ). The Chaldean short face is written in Hebrew as ( זְעֵיר אַנפִּין ) Ze`eyr ‘Anpin. The structure is expressed as a five pointed star. Regardless of the spellings and pronouciations the concept reveals the esoteric principle of God in Man. The movement of a hand, arm and leg are taken for granted when. it must be realized that your bodily functions are themselves a miracle and must not be taken for granted. To say that we live in the age of miracles is an understatement that is the primary lesson occultists aim to teach to the student. The activity of Jupiter is in a region of the body known by the words Abdominal Brain. Information available in other media here. It is called the solar plexus nerve cluster. This is found in the pith of the stomach in front of the aorta. In esoteric texts this is the site of birth. The heroes found in song and manuscripts such as Krishna, Attis, Bacchus, Dionysus, Cú Chulainn, and Tammuz as well as many others all share the solar region or Sun as a place for them. This can be difficult to perceive if not versed in the language of mythology and their relation to physiology. These heroes are described as being born in a cave, a stable, found under a pine tree. The body provides shelter to many hosts and is a sanctuary. Various sacred manuscripts speak of the nerve clusters in their own terminology. To think that our thoughts originate in a series of organs outside the cerebrum or head region will appear anti-heretical in the age of scientific discovery. Never-the-less even in the various disciplines in science there is a growing movement toward looking at the nervous system with new eyes. Current methods lack the capability to study these nerve centers. Art still has this ability. We respond to art and music. Methods still persist in using art in this way. The heavenly gift to change occurs here. The son of the king, the prince, emerges in the solar kingdom. In addition to this royal suite the solar plexus is the domain of the emotional mind. The area misunderstood in poems by the laymen assume emotion is derived from the heart is not true. The great push and pull of your feelings own their place in this region. The feeling of fear and butterflies in the stomach will be felt in the the very same pith region. This uncomfortable feeling is accurately pinpointed in the language yet our assumptions of blindness make the conclusion that heart incorrectly rules emotions. Unfortunately this is also where the great power is located. If you are ruled by your emotions you are a slave. In order for the the neophyte to achieve control a great struggle of the will is necessary. To rule it is necessary that you weld the sword. This sword is composed from the different nerve centers and must be constructed by the neophyte.
This design is from the collaboration of the artist Pamala Colman Smith and Arthur Edward Waite. First published 1909. Despite its popularity many of the secrets contained in the paintings remain hidden yet to be discovered. Let us examine the wheel of fortune key X (10) of this Tarot. The four different corners in the above picture represent the ends of the earth. This is from where the winds blow. The winds appear to be engaged in study. This is the preparation for a neophyte. At the top of the wheel is a chimeric figure. I like to draw your attention to four different features. These are subtle and always overlooked. One is the lower part of a lion. Two is part of human female. Three is the Nemes headdress. Seen on statues of Djoser (Tosorthros Greek name version) of the third dynasty (2686-2613 BCE). Four is the sword that the sphinx holds. These parts are required in order to assume the real you. Continuing on with the descriptions of the occupants on the wheel we have the figure in red. This is identified as a Hermanubis. This is a chimera of Hermes and Anubis. As this figure rises in the counter clockwise fashion the evolution of consciousness from lower to higher occurs. The sphinx represents our real personality behind the veil. This is to most ignorant. Our real self is an enigma hidden. We attempt to please others, by mirroring a false world rather than seek out our own personal values. The yellow serpent is the familiar Apep (Apophis Greek name). That is the heavenly messenger. Each of these figures occupy the positions involved in the ancient mystery rituals. The cipher of this tarot painting may prove of interest to our readers. If the letters T under the sphinx, A R beside the hermanubus and O by the serpent are grouped together they form the word TARO. This is in a clockwise sense. If the wheel is turned in a counter clockwise sense the letters produce ROTA. This is starting with the legs of hermanubus, followed by the serpent undulation, and end with the sphinx. ATOR, and ORAT. One arrangement of these four letters is ROTA TARO ORAT TORA ATOR. The four letter combination of ROTA is a Latin word for wheel. If O is selected as the first letter, where the serpent is indicated, the combination ORAT is produced. This has the meaning of begat. The letters TORA indicate the Hebrew word for Torah ( תּוֹרָה, ). The letters of ATOR is a Latin identity for Hathor. It has been surmised that this reads as The cycle of the book of Thoth teaches the law of Hathor. This law of Hathor is the law of nature. In a clearer sense this reads as the wheel of the tarot speaks the law of nature. There are other relations possible the word TAROT can be devised by beginning and ending at the position of T where the sphinx is located. Another four letter combination is TROA. This is ascribed to indicate a unique type of gate referred to as a Teruah ( הערת ) in Hebrew. If you were to add up all the letters using their corresponding numerical values you will arrive at the number 697. If this number is used in the summation of 6 + 9 + 7 the sum is 22. This mathematical relations points to the 22 Hebrew letters as the building material used in the construction of the wheel. Broken down this refers to the 12 zodiac signs, 7 planets, and the elements (air, fire, water). The element earth is included with the planet Saturn. This again really means the cosmos. Hence the structure of the cosmos obeys the laws of nature. Mental function observes a law of periodicity. If you pay close attention to yourself you can perceive a pattern of similar activity. So much of this actually happens that is possible to catch your own mistakes once you identify the rhythm of these events. The occult law of cause and consequence also operates as shown in the wheel of fortune. This is demonstrated in us by presenting to us the products of what we sow in the earth of the spinal chord. Good thoughts produce good things. Bad thoughts yield unpleasant experiences. Breath and blood circulationThe inner star called Jupiter has control over circulation. This another relation of the wheel of fortune to control of the body.
The exchange between air and blood occurs in the sack like shaped Alveoil. The entry of Spirit through breath is responsible for the seven emotions observed. They are called 1 joy, 2 anger, 3 sadness, 4 grief, 5 fright, 6 apprehension, 7 satisfaction. We may at first think these are all due to the automatic behaviors of the body. Occultly this is controlled through the occupant of the vehicle not the vehicle itself. The expressions not trained by an actor are manipulated by this very same passenger. The seven expressions are classed as 1 laughter, 2 crying, 3 sighing, 4 facial muscle manipulations, 5 movements of the body arms and legs, 6 hand gestures, 7 sighing. By the use of the emotions a language of communication is possible. Poems, plays, dance. music and art is a why to move and control these emotions.
The system of blood vessels and veins carry blood and food nutrients, and waste. This serves the entire body, from head to heart, stomach, fingers, and toes. Even the skin and nails are supported. The process should not be taken for granted. Those who gain insight into these paintings begin to consciously sense that this work goes on with in themselves. This highway brings all the treasures enriched by the digestive process from food and removes the products manufactured. Those are released. The body is known as the word Babylon. It is a mystery and the parts that serve the miracle resemble a plant like a tree. The veins and vessels are just as branches.
The picture above has a figure at the top holding a ball (orb) with a cross. This is a symbol for Antimony. This work, by Hans Weiditz (1495-1537), shows the four winds as clouds and not as the four creatures. As human faces the hieroglyph gives forth the concept of force. A careful search will satisfy that not all winds blow with the same impulse. This is illustrated by the lines of breath emitted. In Sanskrit the wind is called Vayu ( वायु ). The wind of East is allied with Sun. This wind where the sun arises is called Prana ( पाना ). It is the life force. The pair of Mercury and Gemini coordinates its efforts. The center of its activity is the Heart. The wind where the sun sets is in the west. The wind of the west is called Apana ( अपान ). This wind is friends with Fire. Aries and Mars assist control of this wind. The center of activity is the anus. The wind of the north is called Udana ( उदान ). The associate of this wind is the Moon. The operation is maintained by Venus and Taurus. The center of its activity is the Throat. Our final wind in the diagram must be south. The wind of the south is called Vyana ( व्यान ). This wind works with Water. The regulation is achieved by Saturn and Aquarius. A few of the centers of activity include veins, joints, limbs, and stomach. This information shows that the wheel has a role in the whole organism. Everything is regarded as involving mental activity not just nerve tissue. This goes against interpretations ruled by dogma and not the heart.
The figure represents the un-manifested and the manifested. The souls entry by a river called Aethiopia ( Αἰθιοπία ). The land of the black. In the Egyptian tradition this region is called the land of Cush. Efforts to find the archaeological location of this place have proven futile. Despite this there will always be wonder as to where such a place exists. The king of this region is called Cepheus ( Κηφεύς ). This is the stone that is pursued by many. If this is the stone than what is the relation to the king’s daughter? The daughter is Andromeda. ( Ἀνδρομέδη ). This figure is chained to a rock and threaten by the creature Ketos ( κῆτος ). The hero appears after one of the cycles of the wheel is about to end. This is when Peresus ( Περσεύς ) arrives to release Andromeda from her bonds and crystallizes Ketos. Now it can behave as a jewel. If the figure of Ketos is altered the threat disappears. What is this myth talking about? If you seek changes the soul world must achieve control of the chariot. With the arrival of each hero and heroine the wheel completes a turn and the next task in construction continues. The gradual birth and raising of the hero and the meeting with the heroine is presented in the form of the production of wine from the birth of the grape and season for its conversion into wine and the drunkenness that occurs with the consumption of the alcohol. The spirit enters. The fruit growing on the vine itself has received a substance. A spirit! This is represented by the sun in spring. Hence the spring position of the wheel. You are composed of less coarser material yet your higher forms depend on coarse and heavy material given to you from nature. The substances in nature are needed by the higher selves to manifest. This struggle that spirit undergoes with nature to achieve greater forms is represented by the cross pattern on the wheel. One vertical arm represents a downward direction of involution where spirit enters matter. The horizontal arm represents a upward direction of evolution where matter rises towards spirit. Matter than enters spirit. This can be achieved which requires thought. If one can go below then one can go above.
It is Not by chance but this design does have more to offer. It is important to be made aware that the wheel of fortune is the first hour for the initiate. The same hour can be found in the Amudat (Text of the hidden chamber) of Egypt. This hour involves the beginning of study and the application of tests. At this auspicious commencement there must be collection of earth. By mixing together just as flour and water a mass is formed and by will this shall be animated. Such effort of the artist requires the skills of a physician and noble judge. All unpleasant conclusions must be eliminated. That which is not you must be gone and a unified singing of a chorus must be achieved. By the dross mixed with light great can be achieved. This involves a refrain from blowing out the candle. Very often a masterpiece is discarded because the image is not what we perceive it to be. We look with false eye. Dignity of ourselves begins with out thinking process. This means having to endure a walk through snowstorms and desert rains before the message is realized. Misunderstandings between truth and lies will occur when scandals are thrown out. The victory of the first hour needs the urge to reattach the long missing head. This head is described in geometry as an equilateral triangle. The four parts of this triangle are will, feelings, thinking, and Love. With this the dignity we crave manifests.
The Sistine Madonna by Raphael Sanzio is well known. Made in 1512 by some estimates. The most important part of this painting is the apparent myriad of faces seen in the background. Along the left and center some of them can be seen clearly. Not all of these faces are looking upon the madonna, but are in. fact glancing in different directions as if the painter cannot encompass all the activities that are occurring. These seemingly unimportant figures play an important role in neuroscience and psychology. Their inclusion is the main reason why this painting was commissioned. All experience is magic and can only be explained by magic. Why such a bold statement? Our perception based only upon the sense organs appear to darken and nullify the human vision of the spirit world. In order to “see” we must prepare to raise ourselves above the order that the senses provide us about this physical dream. If thinking is derived solely from the lower senses we become ignorant of the existence of our creator. A person can only achieve the experience of divinity when their own soul is able to grasp her own inherent spiritual nature. This awareness to awakening from deep slumber can be assisted through art. Here art is a communicative portal. This is why magicians apply art to their craft. The understanding of magic and the wisdom it lends to the senses is the way to the esoteric. By looking externally we are directed, by the performer, to gaze inside. The painting called the Sistine Madonna holds great esoteric knowledge. A simple examination gives the impression that it is a beautiful example of an artist passion. The basic structure of the Madonna design is that of a woman with a child. This is a prominent feature. Beyond this, attempts to appreciate the information are lost. Why are there two women in the painting? They represent two forces. One gives birth. The other nurtures. One provides information from virgo. The other provides information from pisces. The relationship between these two constellations is that the journey of the sun takes six months. This is by no means an accident. Pisces is the astral gateway. The concept of physical birth and spiritual birth is presented by these constellations. Actually there are always two mothers in mythologies. We have become complacent by not questioning the meaning behind myths. We consider shallow facts and accept only the first explanation. The Egyptian sister Gods: Isis (Ἶσις) and Nephthys (Νέφθυς) are both necessary for life. Isis is the virgin mother and Nepththys is the mother who raises the child. In the Christain Gospels these two forces are carried over from the Egyptian sacred texts. Here there there are two mothers for Jesus. One is Virgin Mary. The other is Mary, the wife of Cleopas (Κλεόπας). The Egyptian names ending in a “t” sound translate in Greek with an “s” sound. The name isis is derived from (Aset). The name Nephyhys is derived from (nbt-ḥwt). The literal translation is Lady of the House. This literally translates as throne. The apparent neglect of Nephthys in popular culture shows the break in sacred knowledge. By observing nature it will be noted that two mothers exist and are necessary. The early Egyptian Constellation iconography contains two cows. One produces water. This is the virgin mother. The other cow produces milk. This is the mother with the power to bring forth. The man in the figure is Taurus. It is in this constellation where alchemical fixation occurs. The sharing and uniting of two bodies. This is the process where the body shares consciousness with spirit and the spirit vice versa shares consciousness with the body. It is a wonderful moment. The author Jabir ibn Hayyan describes this event as a union. Through this union of spirit with body the body attains the properties of spirit. These properties are declared as fineness, lightness, and extensibility. Quite the opposite when we conceive with our thoughts the concept of solid objects. The spirit acquires from the body a resistance to fire, this means the intellect. This also accompanies immobility and duration. The spirit characterizes quickness and volatility. The child of this union is shown in the painting. The child receives the properties of both parents. This child is the newly born solar body. The symbol of Joseph is that of a bull. The carpenter-father responsible for building the house. This house is essential to house Jesus in the Gospels. This can be understood by examining the Egyptian sources. Here our carpenter is Seb. The Egyptian Seb represents Earth and indeed the zodiac sign of Taurus is an earth constellation. The foster father Seb, takes care of baby Horus from the child’s birth until the age of 12. Later the child will mature and transfer from the mortal world to the various higher spiritual spheres. Therefore Seb plays an important role in the incubation of growth. This is the passing on of knowledge necessary for the higher worlds. In the painting of the madonna the hierophant is there to serve as the guide. The significance of the woman holding the child requires that one must learn of the importance placed in a constellation outside the zodiac. This constellation is a representation in the heavens of the Madonna. Described as The Desired of All Nations. This is taken from a passage in Haggai 2:7. What is desired is knowledge from the higher mind. The child in the painting is the germ of this higher mind. The nations mean the various kinds of thoughts originating from the three spheres of mentality, spirituality, and physicality. This specific constellation of a woman with child is one of the three decans belonging to Virgo. Each of these three constellations has something to do with digestion respiration, and production of bodily components. Including blood cells. The breath of life and therefore the production of active blood cells comes from the quantities known as { ओजस Ojas } and [ 氣 qì ]. These are present in foods and air in the air that you breathe. The Stomach and lungs are associated with the constellation Coma Berenices, The small intestines associated with the constellation of Centaurus, and the long intestines associated with constellation of Booties (The herdsman). The role of the herdsman is to round up the sheep. These are the nuclei of the blood cells fully clothed from the digestion process. The livestocks controlled by the herdsman are made alive by Ojas and Qi present in the foods. These wonders called cells, are really known by the original term and that is germ or seed. Each of these seeds have associated a different kind of thinking. What you do with your seeds results in an event in your life. The ability to perceive this makes one stand out. This is the quest of a student. The drawing is based on the work of Signor Bossi and Edward J. Copper in 1820. The artist Bossi made sketches of the carvings found at the temple of Hathor near Denderah, Egypt. Reference: The Witness of the Stars by Ethelbert William Bullinger, 1893 In current astronomy texts the constellation in the drawing is called Coma Berenices (Berenice’s hair). For our applications we will described the constellation as it truly is. What we are seeing is in fact the Madonna. A woman nursing a child. A big revelation, to be discussed in a later article, is that all of Raphael’s paintings deal with the ancient art and science of astrology. Because the Madonna is found in the heavens it is also represented in many traditions. This art is a representation of 陈靖姑 ( Chen Jing Gu ) with child. The picture of a woman with child among the constellations plays an important role with nutrition. This decan of virgo relates to the organ of the stomach. The role of artisan is one of the duties of the stomach. This is where the building of the body structures from food begins. The energy that cannot be seen but its effects can be learned is what happens when you consume food. The energy in the food taken originally from the Sun is incorporated during eating a meal. The effects on your body is noted by yourself when you take the moment to examine your own thoughts. Rather in a stupor you consume and ignore the miracle you will not see with your mental eye: how mind and food are related! The effects of the sun provide the gift to make food nourishing to you. Thus the child on the woman’s lap holds the key to this picture. It is the solar deity that brings life to us. The artist Raphael made 37 Madonnas that are currently known. Each one is different. The figures and how they are arranged. The colors employed as well as the activities chosen for each scene provide a story. To understand that story requires a detailed effort of study to view all of these painting collectively and not individually as they are presented in scattered archives. When this is performed a great secret of Raphael’s Madonnas will be unveiled. Mother Mata Yasoda (यशोदा) holding Baby Lord Krishna. Her name means one who is giver. She raises the child. Mother Devaki ( देवकी ) gave birth to Krishna in a prison cell. Close to these nurturing processes is the spirit world. You never leave this world. That is indicated in the paintings as faces, or flowers above the crown in these images of mother and child. All of our thinking is done in the celestial world. Much of these important notions is forgotten. The idea that your world is self contained in your own body is false. With mind you can go any where and the mind is very big. Larger than you can imagine. The desire to cut oneself off from your own divine wisdom results in tying your hands behind your back. You feel helpless. All wonder comes when learning how to use what gifts you possess. You abilities are actually restricted by what you chose to believe and think. As you evolve you change. If you do not put into practice your own thought and imagination you merely limit your own potential. We suffer from a fragmentation of thought. The heroes and heroines come from within our own thoughts. They are a part of us as we are a part of them. As a consequence the meaning and knowledge held in the celestial sphere is placed in fragments. We can seek advice and find blame, but how to solve this fragmented way of learning? A reader will recognize only a portion and ignore the rest. The secret in understanding requires the putting together each of the separate disciplines of the mind. The indication that the Madonna art exists in many regions is a clue to what the portent of the sphere provides. It indeed is the treasure which adventure tales aim to seek out. An example of the role of the actors of the celestial are involved in more than one subject can be found in a seemingly unrelated topic. This is found in the lines of a play called the Merchant of Venice. The line is spoken by the character of Lorenzo … Look how the floor of heaven is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold: There’s not the smallest orb which thou behold’s but in his motion like an angel sings. Still quiring to the young-eyed cheubines; such harmony is in immortal souls; but whilst this muddy vesture of decay doth grossly close it in, we cannot hear it.” From the Shakespeare play: Merchant of Venice Scene V act i. The muddy vesture is the body that the soul wears. Encased in the body we have forgotten our origins. We ignore the sounds of praise from the creator. The use of performing music removes our barrier. Why is this line in a play? Because all is mind. Everything produced comes from thinking. Our thought. Your own thought creates what you observe before you. By not listening to the choirs singing within us, we lose the celestial path originally intended to walk upon. The line is presented not to provide tension to the plot but to enhance the hearers. The more we penetrate matter. The less we appreciate spirit. Our own thoughts are no longer appreciated. Encase in our shells we chose not to listen to the angels. Yet our very thoughts are from the same source. The orbs are our worlds of consciousness. The floor of heaven is the system of all parts of how we think. The wonderful lamp of Aladdin is the brain. The entities that provide magic are the genies. What can be thought of being contained in a lamp is real. The word genie has a interesting meaning. The word means to produce. By rubbing the lamp means to use your mind. The genies are the deities that have brilliance. This property of emanation is what the stars are capable of achieving, they sparkle and shine. In us is a universe composed of many stars. These stars follow a hierarchy. Depending on which orb these deities occupy plays a role in determining this order. Each member has different wonders. The names of these resident orbs can be written in an ascending order. The names of the orbs are written by the corresponding Latin names: Moon (Luna), Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Zodiac, Primum Mobile, and Empyrean. The words used regardless of the language have same meaning for the names come from a measurement. Words or hieroglyphs are ascribed numbers. It is these numbers that dictate the words. Math as a language. A way for the driver of a carriage to converse with the animals who pull the carriage achieved through numbers. Imagine some fool by the name of Colarbasus could make the wild claim that mathematics unites and explains all religions. We will never know what Colarbasus actually spoke of. Nothing in written form exist. Only comments of other writers mention that he advocated that the perfection of truth and religion are contained within the Greek alphabet. The expansion of all the letters from describe the body in hieroglyphic form. The importance of this is not considered by waking consciousness until the thoughts strike close to home. The realization is that shape word and number are planned out. This means tree, grass, flower, horse, bird, fish, and woman, together with man are designed the same as temple, house, and theater. All according to the way art in temples appear. Taken from various languages one can discover that there is in fact a mathematical relationship. Such a relationship relates to vowels and musical notes. This fact exists solely because of these celestial orbs. It is possible to arrange a ratio of sizes for every orb. This information can be found in Holy texts from every tradition. If we look carefully these orbs appear in architecture, music, paintings, Plants, and animals, the physical structures of skin, muscle, face and bone, poems, songs, and the plays presented in theater. Essentially these orbs are present all around us and play a decisive role in our growth. Because of a fragmentary nature present within us. The viewer ignores divinity and is unable to realize what is known and has been know for centuries. This distortion must be overcome and the fragments put back together. This involves completing the puzzle. Historians of the Renaissance period (14th to 15th centuries) would overlook the importance of the contents of orbs found in the Merchant of Venice and claim it merely as a relic of Marsilio Ficino’s efforts to introduce Neoplatonism. Much power has yet to be realized. Imagine therapy from music. The translation of the Orphic hymns will yield change once these hymns are incorporated into song. Currently the translations are waiting. The hymn to the Moon is provided below. First in Latin, then in English. Lunae Hymnus Audi dea regina, lucifera, diva Luna Tauricornis Mene, noctu currens, aerivaga, Nocturna, facitenens, puella, bene stellata, Luna, Quae crescis et decrescis, foeminaque et mas Fulgens, equorum amatrix, temporis mater, fructifera, Electris, iracunda, splendoris causa nocturna Omnispica, vigiliarum amatrix, pulchris syderibus abundans, Quiete gaudens et delectatione beatifica, Lucida, laetitiae datrix, perfectrix noctis oblectamentum Astritenens, latipeple, vagi cursus, sapientissima puella Venias beata, benivola, pulchristella, lumine tuo Micans, conservans tuos supplices, proba puella Of the moon, Hear, Goddess queen, diffusing silver light, bull-horn’d and wandering through the gloom of Night. With stars surrounded, and with circuit wide Night’s torch extending, through the heavens you ride: Female and Male with borrow’d rays you shine, and now full-orb’d, now tending to decline. Mother of ages, fruit-producing Moon, whose amber orb makes Night’s reflected noon: Lover of horses, splendid, queen of Night, all-seeing pow’r bedeck’d with starry light. Lover of vigilance, the foe of strife, in peace rejoicing, and a prudent life: Fair lamp of Night, its ornament and friend, who gives to Nature’s works their destined end. Queen of the stars, all-wife Diana hail! Deck’d with a graceful robe and shining veil; Come, blessed Goddess, prudent, starry, bright, come moony-lamp with chaste and splendid light, Shine on these sacred rites with prosperous rays, and pleas’d accept thy suppliant’s mystic praise. By combining the use of word with song the effect on the mind is potent. When a art is presented in fragments the taste is weak and that means no magic can be appreciated. Therefore the art is wasted if the one to experience the work believes the message is not for themselves. This requires an understanding of what the terms mean. The small heads in Raphael’s sistine Madonna are a device to show the members of the celestial hierarchy. The functioning of this hierarchy are known when changes are realized and how changes are revealed to us. Therefore the painting has a great secret for those willing to learn it. We take for granted the concept of growth. Some of us may take for granted the concept of learning. Now what of this understanding, how does it come about? When do we achieve the gift of wisdom? As a side question yet strongly related. What is the age of the poet Dante Alighieri when he decides to visit the underworld? The meaning of underworld refers to the zodiac constellations of Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. It is a reference to when the sun crosses the celestial equator from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere. In order to find the answer is easy enough. Just examine the first canto of the Divine Comedy. In the midway of this our mortal life. I came to myself in a gloomy wood. I had gone astray from the direct path. It were no easy task to describe, how wild and impenetrable that forest was, so that thinking of it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death: but, in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. I cannot rightly say how I entered it. I was so full of sleep, at that point where I abandoned the true way. But when I reached the foot of a hill, where the valley, that had pierced my heart with fear, came to an end, I looked up and saw its shoulders brightened with the rays of that sun that leads men rightly on every road. Then the fear, that had settled in the lake of my heart, through the night that I had spent so miserably, became a little calmer. And as a man, who, with panting breath, has escaped from the deep sea to the shore, turns back towards the perilous waters and stares, so my mind, still fugitive, turned back to see that pass again, that no living person ever left. The concept of being asleep before awakening appears in works of this type. Dante describes arriving to himself. By doing so he notices he is in a dark wood. This is a discovery. An event of learning at the midpoint. Is there a time when you are aware of yourself and your surroundings? Are you always searching? Do you feel a need to make a change, but not sure how? The idea of forces causing an event to occur is the role of the celestial hierarchy. Actually it is not intended to be a blind process but designed to place you at the center. These events should be orchestrated by you and not just occur. Nothing happens by chance. The intention to seek what you need in the underworld is where mystics say initiation begins. The Divine Comedy by Dante is the initiation. Genius opens to our eyes that a journey through the mind is really a transmutation of ourself. Every line brings about the steps of change. This will require the experiencing of trials. These trials are what the labors of Herakles refer to. The part-human part-God, demi-God, performs 12 labors. One labor for each zodiac constellation. Dante begins his poem in a placed called inferno. The place of fire is intellect. This means conscious effort is needed. To understand we need to know the role of brimstone and sulphur refer to. This is self -consciousness. The alchemy symbol of philosophical sulphur involves a triangle and a cross. The cross represents the sun crossing the celestial equator. The triangle is the logos. The formation of the triangle with the cross involves removing the mortal head and replacing it with the God-head. Cluster galaxies observed in the constellation of the Madonna Despite deep space photography the ancient meaning to the constellation images are lost to astronomy. A rich amount of information about constellations can be found in the paintings prepared for celestial maps. This language based on pictures is a universal language. A desire for physical comforts to assist access to higher planes of existence fails. Why is this so? To dream a deity from your own mind comes to you and provides you with one apple and one glass of milk will not satisfy a slave to the physical sense of sight, hear, touch, and smell. Rather than use these gifts to change worlds the true believer will attempt to place their very own fingers inside the mouth in order that they may vomit up the contents of their precious stomach as proof that divine contact occurred. The world of the gods composed of Heroes, demigods, daemons, and angels have more to do with types of thoughts than enactments on a stage. After all a trainer in acting stresses how to depict emotions. It is a disservice to us all when stage craft is used merely to connive an audience into accepting what is false as true and what is true as false. The symbolic craft applied properly allows direct shifts to different planes. The symbols provided the creative propulsion. These symbols imprinted into an image results in transmutation. When the mind allows the process to occur. New planes of being occur. The topological surfaces must be allowed to provided the inner mind’s eye access to spiritual vision. The one experiencing the symbols is given the key to their own creative vision. How quickly this occurs depends on the will and the degree of dullness. The advantage of this method applying geometry to awaken the higher senses is that no artificial stimulants are required. An active mind has the spiritual lamps the head already light. A conversant in this symbolic picture language can be understood not only in different lands but in different times as well. The constellations can be described differently yet there information can still be learnt as has been demonstrated in the celestial art found in archeological records. The small face is another version of the universe. The Microcosm has planets and stars just as the Macrocosm. The description of the Microcosmicus involves several orbs. Four of these orbs form a concentric set centered at the organs of creation Man is described as a universe. The word for Man comes from a Sanskrit word: Manu ( मनु ). In the book of creation one of the reincarnations of Manu begins the constructed of an ark to contain the seed of humanity. This seed is our soul. The ark protects the soul and its world. These concepts are unseen and require deep understanding. The search for the ark only requires looking within yourself. Just as with the ark heaven and earth can only be found by examining yourself and not a treasure map. All of nature is a manifest of thought. How then does heaven communicate with earth? What of the requirements of earth? How will heaven understand the needs? The answers will surprise you. The connection to Heaven and Earth is by way of the inhabitants of worlds unseen. To inquire what they look like is unthinkable to a blind mind. Yet this is precisely the problem. Without symbols and the understanding on how to use them these actors stimulate fantasy. Any thought and desire we entertain involves these citizens. By your permission first a poem to instruct and set the tone of your own inquiry. The path by which to deity we climb, Is arduous, rough, ineffable, sublime; and the strong massy gates, through which we pass in our first course, are bound with chains of brass. those men the first who of Egyptian birth drank the fair water of Nilotic earth, disclosed by actions infinite this road, and many paths to God, Phoenicians showed. This road the Assyrians pointed out to view, and this the Lydians and Chaldeans Knew. Imagine the leader of the celestial Gods to be an intellect. The ability to perceive itself intellectually. The demiurgic ( δημιουργός ) intellect serves both as the curator of truth and wisdom. The Egyptians give the name Ammon for this function. This deity must descend into generation and lead the power of occult reasoning into light. From this one as Amon descends more appellations are constructed. Yet all are ruled by the One. Four male gods and Four female gods combine and are delegated to the Sun. Likewise a similar team of gods are devised and assigned to the Moon. A structure of the varying genera is worked out by Iamblichus ( Ἰάμβλιχος ), 245-325 AD. The order of the citizens of mental thoughts are allotted as a hierarchy: Gods, Archangels, Angels, Archons World, Archons Matter, Daemons, Heroes, Souls. The philosopher Proclus Lycius (Πρόκλος ὁ Διάδοχος), 412-485 AD, provided much information into how the mind operates. His writings are worth studying. The structure of mind involves a series of worlds of heaven of earth. The communicative links involves deities. The lay of these lands, described in the vedas, are grouped as heaven, sky, rivers and oceans, and land. This is the same way the body is separated into four kingdoms. That of heaven, sky, rivers and oceans, and land. Two of these deities are messengers called ( άγγελοι ) ángeloi or angels in Greek and spirits ( δαίμονες ), daímones or daemons in Greek. Proclus, explained, that the angels are assigned into groups denoted as choirs. Every angel is assisted by by a group of daemons. The regulation of matter and its cycles would be under the jurisdiction of this hierarchy. The cycles of crystal formation, plant sprouting, and birth has a hierarchy. This applies to all forms of matter. In the substructures involved in life the vitality is maintained. Here spinal fluid, blood, muscles, bone, and each and every organ is supervised. The structure of the mind contains a motif that occurs in different traditions. This motif includes concentric circles that when expanded from two dimensions forms spheres. The term in occult science is celestial orbs. Notice there are ten celestial orbs in the diagram. Credit Paiore of Anaa Atoll circa 1820 The different levels of the mind is represented in pictures as orbs. The design involves a circular motif. The reason for this is the geometric representation of a circle indicates the number 22. When you see a circle you can relate this to the number 22. In the beginning of your observations this may appear unusual. However in art all shapes can be translated to number. The numbers arranged in a painting provide effects which can stir emotions and allow the mind to gain entrance to higher states of consciousness. It is this knowledge which is used in the construction of the art found in temples and paintings. The most powerful art is celebrated because its design contains these principles of shape and number. The application of art serves to introduce in other ways the word known as Multitude. All multitude participates, in a certain way, of the one. By combining geometric structures together a region can be delineated. The mathematical subject of this operation is given the name synthetic projective geometry. Ace of Coins from the Thoth deck. On the left a full view of the painting. On the right a close up of the detail located in the center. This discipline was applied in part in the designing of the Thoth Tarot by Lady Frieda Harris. The effects on the viewer provide striking changes in psychology. Indeed all of this fanciful study is really not new. Its impact on trying to find a reason is. A close up view of the Ace of Coins reveals a decagon inscribed in a circle. In the center of the decagon are two pentagons. One drawn in a red-orange color pointing toward the bottom of the picture. The other pentagon is drawn in black outline. This pentagon is drawn pointing toward the top of the picture. Inscribed within both pentagons is a folded octagon. This is drawn in black and superimposed onto a yellow background. In the center of the circle rests three smaller circles. Two of these small circles the same plane and a common point of intersection on their circumferences. The third small circle above the lower two is in a class by itself. This one is drawn to be placed in a plane that is above the lower two circles. There are many examples of interlacing geometric figures throughout the Thoth deck. This is only one example. By examining how new lines are created when two wings are drawn perpendicular to each other will provide insight into the effects of this visual language. These are not mere lines arranged in a scattered manner. Such designs are observed in temple art works. Examples of Yantra designs The identical concepts are applied to the designs employed in Yantras ( यन्त्र ). These are art created in associated to be utilized in mediation. Instead of free movement of thought. The Yantra provide specific directions to specific locations. This allows the operator to achieve well thought out movements. These specific works of art provides a door to a world that always exists and many choose to ignore, namely nature. This world is called Pleothra ( πλήρωμα ). The Greek word is loosely translated as the totality of divine powers. Despite its meaning much is written about what the word could mean. An important attribute of the word is fullness. For the visible order of things call forth invisible powersThe structure of the universe is not without form. Methods to delineate the creation of thoughts requires an intricate system of many actors. Once again the ability to communicate with these actors and navigate through the many roads and travel the terrain of mountains, woods, and seas that would allow you to visit many of the cities in these worlds all comes from art. The polygon and surface provide a universal language which the inhabitants speak. Learn the syntax and you will have no difficulty in conversing anywhere. The Three Graces from Sandro Botticell work entitled Spring (Le Printemps) (Primavera). please note how the three figures form a circle by each one holding the hands of the other. They are 1) giving, 2 receiving, and 3 returning actions. The three graces placed in the painting with the name spring is actually a hermetic device. It is a representation of an equilateral triangle. The polygon is the symbol of the triad. The underlying features are the same regardless as to what the there components exist in the triangle. The three parts to the triad provide support to all the members in the group. These are referred to as: being, life. and intelligence. The method in how this works is shown in the way the hands of the three graces are grasping each other’s hands. This provides a circuit to form. Here as Being abides the result is Life proceeds. Both Life and Being allow Intelligence to return and allow the Being to spawn another cycle. This ability for each component to submit a contribution and in turn receive from the other members a gift to enable its continuation is the reason why the triangle is called a perpetuating machine. Once this concept is understood different triads can be examined to learn how each triad interacts with their neighbors. Some examples of different components are the three functions of Preservative, Creative, and Regenerative. The names used to designate this triad are Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva. The ability to sustain provides the power to create. The continuation to sustain requires the gift of regeneration. Without regeneration no creative impulse can occur. Therefore are three components must work in cooperation. The supersensible orders again require three components. They are the Noetic order, which is permanent being. The Noetic and Noeric which is permanent life, and the Noeric which is permanent intelligence. The principle of the operation can be grasp early in study. The challenge is in delving into what are triads. How can they be experienced? Again the answer is in the painting of Spring. The facial expressions and portraits of each grace achieves entry into the triad. Each of the members has a different message to provide the gazer. This is a meditative work. Detail knowledge will only come by reflecting back at the image. The actual triad sits beyond our comprehension. By reflecting we are looking at reflections of the thrice unknowable darkness. Words chosen to describe this are ineffable. This is described in the Kemet tradition as a darkness beyond all intellectual conception. A succession of forms in the universe serve to transmit their their works to others. Regardless if the form is a chain of triangles. The individual structure does not matter. All that is productive of another is superior to the nature of that which is produced. A succession of geometrical figures must be understood for achieving a rudimentary basis of reasoning with this mathematical language. One example is the representation of the unmanifested and manifested two worlds. Their description demands knowledge of geometric shapes Diagram showing Pleroma and Hysterema. Possible source: Writings of Valentinus. Era of his works are estimated to be in the 120-160 AD period. This diagram; However, predates this period. The structure of the diagram is indeed connected to the yantra family. By understanding how shapes relate to number and how combine shapes produce their effects will unlock much that need not be veiled. Before any thing happens. The start of this drawing is a background. That is clearly defined. It is called Sige. This in English means Silence. Here the activity of Silence produces the simple concept for something resembling a dot. The power of a dot yields the production of thought. The circumpunct is an esoteric symbol and it is viewed as a circle with a point at its center. Vibrations are set up by thought. These thoughts disturb the fabric or canvas of the silence. Our dot metaphor for thinking is described in geometry by a point. This point is drawn at the top of the circumference of the larger circle. That circle, we speak of, is labelled Pleroma. The point of course is in turn labelled as Bythus. This point translates to Deep in English. The deep is the source of the unknown and unknowable father. The point generates two additional points and these three help form three lines to bring into view a triangle. This triangle is drawn at the top of the circle. With Bythus behaving as one of the vertices. The three parts of this triad are Bythus and the Duad pair called Nous plus Aletheia. This trio go by in English as Deep, Mind, and Truth. To review we start with silence. From this state we introduce a point. Then we transform the point to a triangle. The construction of higher concepts from thought. A square represents with the defined sides The Logos, Zoe, Anthropos, and Ekklesia. The four higher governing bodies. Logos is the word, Zoe is life, Anthropos the beginning first Man. This unites conscious with subconscious. Ekklesia is the Church. This is a reflection of greater wisdom found in the geometric point. Beyond the triangle comes the square. To construct the square two duads first must form. The sides of the square have special meaning. The two vertical sides mean potency of spirit. The two horizontal sides mean potency of matter. These four lines are designated as male and female gender. The male Nous means Mind and must combine with female Zoe. This means Life. This is the first operation of a vertical line crossing with a horizontal line. The process is repeated. The male Anthropos is the vertical line that must cross with the horizontal line. This is the female Ekklesia. The word in English is Church or assembly. The male potencies combine with their corresponding Syzygeries. These are the corresponding female potencies. The act of this operation is called Syzygery pairing. The structure after the square is the pentagon. The pentagon in the diagram is formed from the male potencies. When this pentagon combines with its female Syzygery pair the resulting polygon will be a decagon. This represents the union of the sons and daughters of wisdom. The two small circles, flanking the pentagon, refer to the system of Christos and Pneuma. These work together. Activated pineal gland, by correct meditation and correct breathing. Their duty is for Spirit to descend and evolve matter. This is called Involution and Evolution. We have two circles representing boundaries of two worlds. The larger drawn circle is labelled Pleroma. This is called a complete world and is described as manifested. Below this circle is drawn a smaller circle. This circle is labelled Hysterema. Here is a world that is incomplete. The term used is unmanifested. The celestial spheres differentiate by number The development of the celestial sphere follows mathematics. The numbers provide the progression. The zero describes the egg. The one tells of the point placed in the egg. The 2 develops opposites. The egg is partitioned. The 3 converts two opposites into a triad. The Pyrhagoreans combine this information into a way for mind to climb to higher planes. Much is not realized in rational fields, which teach subjects as separate areas. The unification is necessary to go further. It is the reason why new discoveries only come by combining diverse topics that at first glance may appear unrelated. Florence This design speaks of higher geometry. The central axis contains concentric octagons By no means are celestial entities transferred by a chaotic method. If so there would be no need to examine the meaning and messages these works of art provide. A different heaven, drawn as a orb on paper, can be achieved based on its own specific form of communication. Everything created in the universe is designed by form and number. A useful guide to examine if you are on the right track is to consider the numbers. Each of the numbers has a meaning unique to its own. We will only speak of eleven members from this set. The Zero {0} is the beginning and the end for it is the egg. A circle represents a cycle and a figure curled into a ball. Like a foetus. The Akasha ( आकाश ) has a glyph of an egg. What appears as no thing or nothing is the “space” called ether, or quintessence. All the power that ever was or will be is obtained through zero. The alchemist often say out of nothing comes everything. One {1} is the root. The beginning of an idea starts when spirit descends onto the earth, indicated by this glyph. The tiny yod (י) appears in the glyph of one. It appears like a roof just at the commencement of the vertical line. The yod of heaven and the horizontal line of earth is united by the vertical line. The product of heaven with earth is consciousness. Hence the vertical line of one represents your consciousness. That speaking part you identify with thought when you are not sleeping. That part of you used in making decisions about what to do and what you plan to eat for lunch. One is humble, but if you are aware how to use one you will realize that one is the center to do the primal will. All good comes from the source. The eternal substance sustains the universe by going through the one. Two {2} causes the desire to return and reunite. The invention of opposition lies in 2. Many lists can be compiled and need not be given as examples. By going to 2 comes form built out of desire. Through yourself comes the matrix of an idea. Wisdom can only work through yourself. Three {3} is the state of unfoldment. The gifts found in zero can only be expressed by understanding. Here is where multiplication can be achieved. The combination of wisdom and understanding places you upon the path of liberation. Four {4} is the glyph for a door. This is the entrance to knowledge. The riches of material and spiritual comes when your are four. This is the source of all that you need. Five {5} is the glyph of the microcosm. This is the lesser solar system. This number has the essential four elements of Prithvi पृथ्वी (earth), Vayu वायु (air), Āpa अप (water), Agni अग्नि (fire) under command of the Akasha आकाश (ether). Different mixtures of the five elements produce different personalities. A proper amount of each element produces a balanced five pointed star. Justice operates in all forms, manners, and circumstances when you are five. Six {6} is the larger version after five. This is the macrocosm. This is the greater solar system. Called the large face. The points of the six pointed star are labelled as the deities: Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, Luna, Mercury, and Mars. Each of these names relates the powers at ones own disposal. When you are six all forms of beauty are expressed. Seven {7} is the awakened condition of the soul. In images this number depicts arising from a surface. When you are seven you will be victorious. Eight {8} is the path planets take. The glyph represents the life-force. When you are eight you will experience the glory and splendor of the limitless light. Nine {9} is called the seminal soul. It is composed of a circle and a seed. Drawn as a vertical line. When you are nine you will achieve the foundation. Ten {10} is the marriage of the self consciousness with the superconsciousness. To achieve the state of 10 is the indication of dominion and perfection. This requires the removal, by self, the noticeable flaws. Like in crystal habits the flaws can only be found through internal reflection. The brilliance achieved through work gives the kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. In the Zoroasterian Holy books the heavens are divided into seven regions. Each of these regions has a ruling deity. These seven deities emanate from one. The highest one. This is the Lord of Wisdom. Out of Ahura Mazda, the lord of wisdom, springs forth the creation. This is the cosmos. The creator produces the cosmos with thought. The seven spirits coming from this source are (1) Spenta Mainyu, (2) Vohu Manah, (3) Asa, (4) Kahatra Vairya, (5) Spenta Armaliti, and (6) Haurvaiat (7) Amerdad. Each of these seven has specific functions. Spenta Maniyu is Mental thought. The name means Holy creative. Vohu Manha is good thought. This is the quality of thinking. Goodness is what must be the direction. Asa is truth. This ruler deals what must be sought after. Never accept information with out the desire to find the truth. Kahatra Vairya is the dominion. Here the mind considers justice. The place where decisions must be weighed carefully. Spenta Armaliti is Holy devotion. The Love of your creator. Wisdom requires a peaceful mind and will not visit any mind in love with anger. Haurvaiat is completeness. This is the realm of perfection. By rejecting the impure thoughts we can aspire and arise to this heaven. This deity is concerned with the accumulation of riches. This is why it is important to build and construct your treasures in heaven and not earthly for they will corrode. This is aimed at our thinking. In fear we cannot think. A stronger mind in love and in tuned with the creation will not faulter. This is not of morality only. The quality of thinking can be improved. Right thoughts produce right actions. This can only be achieved by exercise. Hence in developing the way to think correctly. Amerdad is immortality. The cycles of regeneration are governed in this sphere. Each round of evolution and the requirements to start anew turn is achieved by this spirit. The geometric concept of devising the heavens as circles is implied by the term cycle. Gustave Dore The angel planetary sphere in Dante paradise In Dante’s Divine Comedy, the author touches on the hierarchy of these celestial orbs. We will specifically be examining the information contained in Canto 28 (XXVIII) of the Paradiso text. There is indeed a significant amount of information in his comedy which upon early readings is often missed. The basis of this is not mere fancy but an exploration of the mental structures. A description of how we think and how we can think better if desired. The lovely friend of Dante is named Beatrice. This companion shall be our guide to the spheres. Lets listen to her reasoning. These spheres appear to our eyes as corporeal circles. In fact they are revolving heavens. Reader aside: This association of revolving is important. The vortices of Charkras and the rotation of angel choirs connect to states of bliss. The faster the rate of change the higher he degree of heavenly bliss. The power to influence neighboring heavens below a specific sphere is related to. virtue. The stronger the virtue the wider the sphere may appear to your eyes. An example of this can be examined in the Primum Mobile. This the largest of the revolving heavens. This sphere covers all of the universe. The virtue here exceeds the other spheres. The angel intelligence of the Primum Mobile is the Angelic order of the Seraphim. Being nearest to God this order is full of Love and Knowledge. A diagram of the heavenly spheres of Dante’s cosmology Each of the spheres is occupied by choirs of angels. The quality and type of sphere depends on the duties of the angels and distance from God. These spheres are decorated with intelligences. Infused along with the intelligences is the life of immortal souls. It is herein these globes that make change possible. The wise aphorism of the Chaldean instruct us on the use of the heavens. Man to the Chaldean mystics is a living creature of varied, multiform and ever changing nature { Enosh hu shinnujim vekammah tebhaoth haj }. These changes are possible by the celestial members. The structure of the mind is described by the heavenly orbs. The geometric dimensions for every sphere is imparted in painting and architecture. This provides the must important language. For it is possible to be directly involved with these mental structure. The writings of Saint Paul cannot be appreciated without conferring with the Chaldean Oracles. The Epistles of Paul inform the reader that the illusionary struggles do not originate from your own flesh and blood, nor from that of flesh and blood of others. This is hard to understand when the mind uses the senses to peek outside. The models the mind makes from sense information creates a spell by invoking thoughts. Imagine our reality is nothing but spirits. The sensation of a room is created by the impression. The pressures of spirits by nerve fluids allows us to build a story about the room our mind peers at. We forget all our impressions is composed of thought. The drive towards realism makes a seeker of truth fell asleep and forget the seeker only has thoughts derived of spirit to compose the surroundings imagined. This subtle point is the reason why a scholar misunderstands the meaning that the imagined foes are not generated by being composed of matter, but our very own thoughts. These thoughts are described by the terms stars. The structure from where thoughts emanate are arranged in these spheres. The members in these spheres are grouped together by the term astral spirits. Therefore the quality of a thought differs and depends upon which sphere this thought originates. The aim in perfection demands the acquaintance of the spheres. The desire to understand heavenly things is imprinted into the designs found both in nature and in. art. By examining your surroundings with new eyes you will obtain the gift of discernment. This is the beginning of being initiated into the mysteries. The Epistle of St. Ignatius to the Trallians illustrates the ability to discern. I am able to understand the angelic orders and the different sorts of angels and hosts, the distinctions between powers and dominions, and other diversities between thrones and authorities, the mightiness of the aeons and the pre-eminence of the kerubim and seraphim. All of these surround the almighty. Their regions can be represented by number. Therefore the heavenly hosts can be ascribed to a surface. The polygon facilitates this interaction. First Triad
The first triad is nearest to God. The Thrones are the images of God’s power. They serve to mirror judgement and show steadfastness. The duties of the members of the first triad. Seraphim perfect, Kerubim illuminate, Thrones purify. These are important for truth can be made serene when it is cleansed by the thrones. Being closer to God these choirs have a greater amount of Beatitude. The three members of this trinity are close to the Godhead. Rather than compete with them for we are unable to yield to them we can emulate these inhabitants. We can learn of their dignity and glory. by understanding the words and geometry. By the will it is possible to have no imperfection or inadequacy. What is the procedure to follow them? By engaging in the life they lead we will achieve their estate. These there have simple laws of operation. The Seraphim burn with a flame of Charity. The Kerubim produce the flashes of intelligence. The struggle to realize by becoming free of actively engagement with responses provides the gift of a moment to gaze at a new window. This work of the creator is beneficial. The contemplating moment of meditating only upon the creator. The creator in the work and the work in the creator leads the engulfing of the LIGHT provided by the Kerubim The Thrones standfast (unyielding) with Justice. The Thrones provide the right judgement. The steps require the process of Faith, Hope, and Charity. These involve the lessons of Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries. With Charity achieved we can enter the Golden Gates of Spring. The key then to achieve the realm of a Seraphim is Love. By burning for the Love of the creator the fires perform the transformation. The efforts of thought to remove all obstacles. This is the transmutation. Sufi poetry use My Beloved for the creator. Knowledge of the hierarchies provide the secret. The ladder to climb rather than remain in a disarray. A good example of a climb is found in Hadewijch, vision 1 v.23: “The one that guided me was an angel, one of the thrones and they have the gift of distinction. Right at that day. I had grown up to his height and I had received that he would guard me and accompany me on all my roads.” To obtain the rung on the ladder requires knowledge of the members of the hierarchy. Then associate this concept. Thrones with justice. The upright thinking. This is a guiding principle. Second Triad
The Dominions extrude Freedom. This independence is essential and this adds vitality to a lifeless structure. The middle triad serves to impart new concepts rather than impose repetition. No matter in any activity observe how difficult it is to reproduce and follow instructions carefully. Much effort and concentration is required. the members of this middle triangle will fight direct orders. The ability to stand for what you believe in comes from the Virtues. These members of the choir give the gift of courage into your heart. The third member known as Powers are the source of beauty to creation. Deserts of thought are made fruitful. Here is the origin of creativity. Third Triad
The third triad is nearest to Man. The regulation of our education is governed by the lowest members of the triad. The principalities are able to obtain the intelligible works of the creator. These works are concealed from our view. they are cloaked in sensing bodies. By the physical senses attempts are made to ascertain from taste, touch, smell, sight, hear what these works are. The very nature cannot be grasped until the senses of the spirit world are grown and utilized. To perceive the thrust of thought among the choirs one must become the Aeon (Αἰών). The Aeon is the combination of both male and female forces. This is the driving force required to control the spiral growth. This growth is involved in the duat process of involution and evolution. The hierarchy of every zodiac will make a contribution in the various cycles involved in perfection. Of all the parts of mind it is the Aeon alone who is allowed can pick the flowers grown in the garden. Therefore the unification of the gender is paramount before any advanced work can begin. Perception and control of the intellect arises at the center where the spiral originates and expands outward. Which level of the hierarchy operating at each zodiacal sign is regulated by the spiral. The iconography of the spiral is represented by the Hebrew letter (א). The completion of a cycle of all the celestial orbs is managed thought the Aeon. This mosaic represents the control of the zodiac The representation of the aeon in art takes on different forms. Part lion, part human, part serpent. The drawing can also be of the form of a couple man and woman with serpent bodies intertwined together. The couple are engrossed in repairing Heaven and Earth. The combination of both genders in art can be hidden by a veil of cloth. The creator mixes the spark of the soul with two harmonious qualities. These are Intellect (fire) and Divine Will. To this mixture is added a fourth. That is Pure Love. This ingredient has been neglected. Although present. The mind must access them. Conscious effort is required. Dante hears the angels communicating their Hosannahs. This music transfers from every angelic choir. One angel transmits a message but as a collection the voice functions as a cascade. The sound of water dripping can be multiplied to produce the sound a large waterfall. To be in the uppermost sphere the sound would be echoing from all the choirs below. The spheres are constructed as fixed loci about a common fixed point. This origin is the all. The angelic orders are bound to this point through Love and Grace. This assigns word with geometric element. The duties of the angels is to manifest God’s grace to others. The heavenly spheres with Dante and Beatrice studying their composition A careful exposition of the paradiso renders a world thought lost. The angel sphere names originated from Greek manuscripts dealing with the explaining the purpose and function of god mythologies in Orphic theogony. Dionysius the Areopagite the credited author bears the name to one such manuscript providing the Greek names to the inhabitants of these spheres. Knowledge of the author is hard to come by. There is the possibility that it is a nom de plume. The sources of the work are from first century AD. The text was produced either in the fifth or sixth century AD. The angelic orders described in Dionysius the Areopagite provided in homomorphic features from a Greek drawing The structure outlined in the celestial hierarchy of Dionysius comes from the work of Proclus. The structures developed in the commentaries on Timaeus are far more advanced then in the celestial hierarchy manuscript. This also means the theories were well thought before the era in which Proclus worked. References to this structure can be found in Vedic literature and early Zoroaster holy scriptures. Islamic manuscripts provide details of this structure. The subject of describing these orbs is dealt with in a forgotten science called cosmology. Our study of a system. This is the subject of how mind produces thought. Neuroscience is curious as to how creativity works. The study is rather old, yet few might considering looking at a celestial map to look for clues. The original meaning has been redefined to provide theories to describe the origin of stellar objects. The treatises written by former scholars understood the meaning of the subject. Therefore readers from different subject areas have come to look at the same literature with different objectives and come away with different opinions. Proclus description of the celestial regions What we call mind is described by seven parts. Number 1 The Ineffable, Number 2 Being, Number 3 Life, Number 4 Intellect, Number 5 Soul, Number 6 Nature, Number 7 Body. These can be displayed as a monad, and two sets of triads. This arrangement yields a six pointed star enclosed in a circle. Solomon Seal arrangement of the mind. Each side corresponds to a property that the mind can exercise at will. The names relate to different levels of thinking. Some maybe dormant, or dominant other properties. Throughout a given day all properties can have a moment in the sun and express themselves. Only be observation can this diagram be appreciated. In three dimensions this circle is a sphere. Proclus presents the celestial sphere as dividing into three parts. The super-celestial arch is where essence, life, and the intellect reside. The celestial portion is the source of the infinite power, intelligible life, and the proceeding reside. The part called the sub-celestial arch is the supplier of the intellect we perceive. We can recognize only this arch. The intelligible intellect and the returning. The ruler over the seven lower Gods emanates from here. The movement between these three regions are the souls. Their motion causes all the other entities to move. The firmament is described as a heaven coming from an egg. This firmament is the site of the activity of the stars and the planets. The Hebrew word is ( רָקִיעַ ) pronounced raw-kee’-ah. Written as rāqîa. This vault or dome is described in many traditions. A paper on the firmament can be accessed at this link here. The Greek word ( στερέωμα ) steréoma has meanings of a support. A foundation. By providing a strong support a faith in the ever changing mind is created. A solid floating in the midst of the waters. The waters expressed unmanifested possibilities. This Greek word: steréoma is the form used in the Septuagint Bible (The word Septuagint implies “Translation of the Seventy” and is abbrievated by the roman numeral sequence LXX ). Another way to understand the higher meaning of firmament is to think of dome. It is a vault of atmospheres. If you chose to consider the container to be a blue sky. It is for your own understanding. Precise definitions arguably ignore the very requirement of illumination. The need for lights. The astral inhabitants including stars, Moon, and Sun. The ethnographers during their journeys find references to “solids” be they from different locales. All creation mythologies include the formation of the firmament. The sky vault has a special relationship with heaven. An important place to look is within. The astral connection lies in the firmament. Lets add more decisive material about the firmament. Valentine Weigel mentioned that in terms of the Spirit we are of God. We move in God, and live in God, and are nourished by God. In terms of the Soul we are from the firmament. All the astralic virtues and required operations is IN us, and WE are in this firmament. The firmament is put and placed in us, and we are put and placed in the firmament. We have dealt with two now we must deal with third. Of the Body. We are composed of the elements. We move, and live in elements. We obtain our nourishment from the elements. These elements are in us and we are within them. In addition to the element that provide our flesh and blood. The ability to animate matter comes from spirit. Out intellect is of the astral nature. Some portion of our wisdom and our self desire for intelligence and industry comes from the stars. This astral light that reflects off and is absorbed from the earth is the light of nature. This is both internal and eternal. To grow correctly requires how to understand starshine. This means learning of the operations that the stars undergo within the vault. This is accomplished by the study of the effects of geometric shapes and there effects on emotion, feelings, and intelligence. The arrangement of the polygons are the language of the higher worlds that compose our mind, for when we think we do not do so in one plane of existence, but actually in several. Full title: The Assumption of the Virgin Artist: Francesco Botticini Date made: probably around 1475-1476 AD. The view from this painting instructs us that we are never solitary. We walk with mighty heroes. Again we can see the circular nature of these worlds. The Zoroastrian pantheon of divinities have two subgroups. One is called Ahuras and the other is Daevas. In the Vedic literature there are two groups. One is called Devas, which means entities of the celestial order. The other are called Asuras which means lords. Regardless of name each has specific functions, and operate in different spheres. The call upon emotions of peaceful nature and violent screams are the application of these beings. How much consideration of where your thoughts originate will be the source of your understanding. Be it as a figure wearing sash with the indicated emotion or the realization that the very thought you are experiencing conforms to these celestial inhabitants is up to you. Your own opinions matter. Atlas holding up the head. The bone of the spine supporting the head is called Atlas The art depicting a Titan supporting the world is a message for all to hear. This mythology provides the knowledge that the heavens Atlas guards from falling is the entrance to all secrets. Every constellation of the zodiac has its own celestial hierarchy. Although the names and orders are the same the members are different. A Seraphim of Gemini will not be the same as the Seraphim of Sagittarius. Therefore the aspects during growth are different. If this were not so no new information could be imparted. Thus there are 12 different Seraphim, 12 different Kerubim, 12 different thrones, 12 different Dominions, 12 different Virtues, 12 different powers, 12 different principalities, 12 different archangels, and 12 different angels. The zodiac adds character and hence the opportunity for evolution of your own abilities. The role of Andromeda to be rescued by Perseus involves the psychic gaining control of the optic nerve. Once her chains are broken she is free to leave Libya and the sea monster becomes crystalized. This is a transformation. Creating something of a higher value. The idea of learning from the stars is an attractive one. Yet the concepts are difficult to grasp. It is necessary to comprehend that the zodiac represents a spiral of growth. The hierarchies present in each zodiac member can provide knowledge provided the level matches and the ray emanating can be received by the receiver. Consider how some members in a class appear to understand a lesson while others do not. The event of a season in an individual is important in learning. Notice when Beavers begin to build dams and homes in the Fall months. Just after receiving the intense rays of the dying summer sun. The month of Leo is associated with the Lords of Flame. The creative evolution is regulated by 12 hierarchies. One of each in their respective chains in each zodiacal constellation. By giving aid they in turn are liberated. The assistance to must be provided at the cost of a rising. This is a law. If beings will benefit an evolution hence a rising will be accomplished. The following three groups achieved aid for the support provided. The hierarchies of Aries and Taurus have already completed their roles in evolution during Saturn period. For all their efforts they have risen to their own successive levels. In future cycles the members (hosts) will be able to assist again. The Seraphim of Gemini arose the ego during the Moon period. The Kerubim of Cancer awakened the Life Spirit in the Sun period. The thrones of Leo are the Lords of Flame. In the Saturn period the germ of the divine spirit is given warmth. This period of incubation awakens the divine spirit. In the earth period seven hierarchies assist in growth. The Dominions of Virgo known as The Lords of Wisdom started the formation of the etheric body initially in the Sun period and will continue their work in the Earth period. The virtues of Libra known as the Lords of Individuality formed the desire body during the Moon period and will continue working in the Earth period. The Powers of Scorpio are known as the Lords of Form. Their duty is to guide evolution in the Earth period. The Principalities of Sagittarius are the Lords of Mind. They offer assistance in the Saturn to Earth periods. The Archangels of Capricorn work with humanity from the Sun to Earth periods. The Angels of Aquarius work with humanity from Moon to Earth periods. The Virgin Spirits of Pisces work with humanity in the Earth Periods. The future planets after earth period will be Jupiter period followed by Vulcan period. The star pictures provide not only a connection to refer to mythology. The pictures also give an entrance to the higher parts of the mind. This is the real intention of cosmology. Structures of the orbs from an Islamic source The cosmologies all describe the orb structure. This is simply because they all refer to the same thing namely the various compositions of the mind. A theory of the inner parts of the brain elude many. Yet these topics do not deal with the organic structures found in brain tissue. The cosmology describes the working parts of the mind. This is a hard concept where learning that the size of a brain does not correlate with intelligence. Cognition and creativity are modeled on the ideas of compartments. Preassigned sub functions for how the mind carries out its wonders. Scientists would be wise to revisit cosmology as it once was taught. The architecture version of the mind. These are the remains of the Noh Gonbad Mosque at Balkh, Afghanistan. The structure resembled the heavenly Nine Domes. This cosmology is described in the Mother Of All Books. See Gnostic Bible for further details. The cosmology in Islam is devised as a white sea (Bahr al-bayda’). This sea of whiteness express the brain. The activities of the sea are divided. In addition to its inhabitants the sea is divided by two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, one mouth, two arms, 10 figures, and two legs with 10 toes, and an eternal sphere (This means that the attention of the brain is also divided from physical activity and spiritual activities). By itself this description is incomplete. The goal is to describe the dwelling of a High King. Below the white sea are a succession of nine domes (qubba or diwan). Each is a heaven for mental activity to occur. These heavens are organized into a descending order and are identified by colors and substances. Number 1 Chrysolite, Number 2 Fire, Number 3 Red, Number 4 Emerald, Number 5 Purple, Number 6 Sun, Number 7 Moon, Number 8 Lapis Lazuli, Number 9 Water. Located in each of these worlds are five entities. The representation of a five pointed star. is the symbol that describes being. Without these forces creation is not possible. They are called body, soul, spirit, individuality, and guardian spirit. In the white sea are five trees. Each tree is occupied a fantastic creature. They are Lion, Boraq (winged horse), White Falcon, Royal Phoenix, and a Duldul (a donkey). The microcosm in Man contains angels just as the macrocosm. These angels of the smaller cosmos are the physical, psychic, and spiritual faculties. Examples of some of the spiritual faculty angels are provided in the Sutta Pitaka (Basket of Discourse). This work describes the five spiritual faculties of Indra (consciousness). These are number 1 faith (Saddha), number 2 energy (perseverance) (Viriya), number 3 Memory (Satl), number 4 Suspend mind (Samadhi) – The Tarot key 12, contains an image of a figure upside down. The image is called The Hanging Man. The design of this image is the power of Samadhi, number 5 wisdom (panna). Once active the imagination can reveal the hidden by vision. What is not manifested can be produced. Having a clear vision is paramount. Chartres cathedral North transept rose window. This stain glass art displays 5 inner concentric zodiacs, including the celestial palace throne at the center. By knowing what to look for you can find the visual concepts imprinted into the art. Widows with a circular shape hold a special significance. In cathedrals this type of window is called a rose. What looks to the reader as a circular stain glass window is actually a representation of the universe. The cosmology of the nous (νοός). The throne placed in the center typically is described as being on a mountain in the north, or the palace is in the north. This is why the north rose was chose to contain the cosmos. The selection was carefully planned. Each of the designs show 12 items arranged in a circle. Each of these wheels are known as zodiacs. The humble rose window actually indicates there are more than one zodiac. There are presented 25 in this window. Despite its important knowledge a traveller has not commented on this. The innermost circle holding the Madonna is called the pole star. Only one zodiac is indicated in most texts. Yet the art reveals more. Many apparently. Excluding the pole star zodiac there are four inner wheels. These are called the physical world, the phantasmal world, the psychic world, and the spiritual world. In all cases there are 12 archetypes each for every world. The 78 images of the tarot decks describe the five zodiac wheels. Every wheel can represent a figure curled up up so that the head a n feet meet. Thus every figure can represent a being in each of the five worlds. The images of the tarot therefore map out the different stages of thought. The authors of Hamlet’s Mill suggested that the Sampo is the Pole Star along with the stars of the northern hemisphere forming a wheel or canopy of light. Stories involving heroes such as Krishna, Gilgamesh, Samson, and Ilmarinen are widespread. Yet their meaning still requires study. Answers are hard to come by. The epic poem provides a series of instructions. At first glance it may sound like a fantasy. A desire to know more involves the creation of many stories to explain the meaning. The wonderment it provides and a calling from the story leads one to ask. Is this just a story for children or does the epic provide instructions of transformation? Can one really change themselves or must we rely on theater as a means for escapism? One such story offers these very instructions. The ability of the reader to comprehend this information comes only from within their own self. A search by logic alone with not provided the knowledge presented in an epic and will be written off as a mere fairy tale. A curious collection of poetic material was performed by singers on a certain region of the earth. Its origin is unknown. The various parts combine together to form the unified name of Kalevala. That is pronounced KAH-lev-AH-la. A source written in English can be found here. It is composed of 50 Runes (Cantos-subdivision of a poem). By a small sample of hearing you can understand that the poems speak of a great undertaking by men and woman in places no one has ever heard of. The descriptions are so fantastic. They speak of the creation of the world and a mission to find a wife. An example of Rune 18:1-40 can be accessed to hear how it sounds when sung. This particular rune is called Valinamoinen finds the lost word. The poems were learned and sung in different locations in a space that included some 140,000 square miles. The structure of the poems were not in any recognizable order. However when the words were eventually compiled and written down a definite story line was apparent. This task of compilation was accomplished by Elias Lönnrot (1802-1884). Working on leads provided by Zacharias Topelius (1818 – 1898), and encouraged by his professor Reinhold von Becker (1827-1843) at the Turku University, he (Elias Lönnrot) began taking trips in Finland (1828 – 1844) to collect information on these poems. He made an estimated 11 such field trips to obtain what he could. Elias heard and met some great singers who were knowledgable about the epic. One was Juhana Kainulainen (1788-1847) and the other was Arhippa Perttunen (1769-1841). For those readers interested in the finer points. The work was released in printed form in two parts. Part one in December 1835 and part two in March 1836. The edition currently known of is the one published in 1849. Attempts at estimating how old these poems actually are only leads one astray. It would appear that the work is very old. Well into the distant past. A connection to the use of language and myth is related to this work. A certain Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) read the work. He and his brother collected various stories and released a book with title Children’s and Household Tales in 1812. Several titles later it has been called Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Another important fact is Jacob’s work on the German sound shift that bears the name Grimm’s law. This was first observed by Rasmus Christian Rask (1787-1832). Language does change with speakers over time. Additional examples provided here. This useful law allows the study and search for lost languages no longer spoken. By a careful observation of the dates one can begin to learn when the poems, myths, and fairy tales were collected and studied for their content. The same such use of songs was applied in Aquitaine France between the 11th and 13th centuries. The name given to these performers was Troubadours. An example of their work can be found here. They spoke the language of Occitan (langue d’oc). Dante Alighieri (1265 – 1321) described the efforts of Troubadour Arnaut Danièl as [il miglior fabbro]. The words translate as the best smith. This type of work can be found presently in Bangladesh by the Baul ( বাউল ) musicians and singers. If you are wise to what is going on you may find such works appearing outside your own door. As such no one knows their origins yet the messages can be heard. In the case of the Kalevala we will soon explore the meanings of these messages. Attempts at understanding what the Sampo is has brought to bear many interesting ideas. The fact that much has been done implies that the nature of the Sampo intrigues our minds. With its multi-colored cover the urge is even greater for it must be a great treasure. if it is found then of course this means great riches. Who would not want wealth? This also drives the desire to find out not only where it lies but also what it is. The singers dedicated to introduce the Sampo themselves offer little insight. We do however have clues. Those patient enough to hear the songs my gain the insight at least where to look for this heavenly creation. An important point is that the Sampo must be constructed with the knowledge of metals for the Smithy Ilmarinen is required to build a forge. The artistry and authorship of the Sampo belongs solely to the one with a understanding of metals. The blacksmith works with iron. The origin of the word is not clear. To produce any thing requires working with primordial material. This is represented as black. The mastery of working with metals appears frequently. In a work called Genesis 4.22 there is a smith called Tubalcain ( תּוּבַל קַיִן – Tū́ḇal Qáyin ). He works with Barzél ( בַרְזֶל ) and Nechosheth or Nachoshét ( נְחֹ֫שֶׁת ). To understand the meaning of these words requires knowledge of what a smith actually does. The object is said to gleam like the sun. That orb is round. Perhaps the very Sampo is a wheel of light. The Greek word of Augoeides ( Αυγίδης ) describes the Sampo as a luminous body. This is the sun-body (nous-νοῦς) carnated in flesh. The activity of the smith means that the intellect must fully be involved in the construction. The spontateous creation still requires the conscious mind to be active and not passive. This means refraining from fantasy and absent minded wandering. This is required, for both night and day conscious efforts are necessary to work as a united team. The sub conscious must be brought into the day. The use of the forge is the source of the heat the alchemists speak of. That is the physical body. The composition of the Kalevala is designed to be sung. The procedure is very specific. Two people face each other. The passages are sung alternatively by each person. In this method the figures are required to hold each other’s hands. The importance as to why these methods were chosen cannot be underestimated. How often have you learned of a performance, or procedure yet failed to experience the magic. The transformation promised is not given. This is felt in anguish and disappointment. Plays are constructed with music to kindle and allow the mind centers to awaken. The sensation of flying is one possibility when listening to a layered musical piece as a climax builds up before the release in the composition. This can have dramatic effects on the nervous system and this is what the performers are seeking. Therefore understanding of words alone will not be informative to the reader. The committing to paper of the poems also require the musicianship. An example of delivering the passages from the Kalevala. Notice how they demonstrate the holding of the hands. The performers are brothers. They are Poavila Jamanen and Triihvo Jamanen. The photo is circa 1894 in Uhtua. Photo Source Unknown. The words are accompanied with a musical instrument called a Kantele. It is a harp. This instrument is constructed in the Kalevala. Two are made. One is made from the jawbone of a giant pike and the hairs from a stallion. The other is made from a birch tree. The strings come from the hairs of a maiden. Example of the Kantele music here. Why the harp is included in the poems becomes clear when the requirements to construct the heavenly body is realized. In the Kalevala the steps are declared to be four. These are Number 1 rowing the boat. Number 2 Playing the Kantele. Number 3 Taking the Sampo. Number 4 The Sampo is broken into fragments. This can be misconstrued as a simple plot. I assure you it is far more complicated than it appears. Each of this efforts are necessary for the solar body to carnate. You will be aware in the retrieval of the Golden Fleece. A process of rowing is necessary by Hercules and Jason. This actual description is necessary. How the breath changes during rowing points the way. The playing of the harp where the nerve fibers the strings are activated. The accessing the of the Solar body from its hiding place and its decomposition just as in the breaking of the Eucharist ritual shows the power of the solar round body being released. If the Kalevala were practiced by an individual it would be learned that it is a shaman method of initiation. The first written observation (1778) of the use of body movements and positions of the rune singers comes from the work of Henrik Gabriel Porthan. Entitled De Poësi Fennica, published in five parts between 1776-1778. He was professor of Rhetoric at the Turku academy. A dissertation on Finnish poetry. During the singing the two performers begin to rock their bodies slowly. Sitting facing each other. These performers right hands are engaged together in a clasp. Research in the methodof Rune singer has ever since been referred to Porthan’s work as a reference. The real value of learning the method of singing is how we change. The objective of the runes is to construct and release this sun body within our very self. While instruction for what must be done is displayed in the poem. That is those who quest for action may find what they seek. More information is also provided. During the boat ride the Sun-body aids in the formation of the new water body. When the Kantele is plucked the Sun-body donates to the new air body. The breaking up of the sun-body produces the fire that unites heaven with earth. This involves the molding of the new fire body. The Kalevala contains a trinity. This is Ilmarinen, Valinamoinen, and Leminkainen. Valinamoinen is the seer and is the source of will. He supplies the divine consciousness and wisdom. Leminkainen provides love and blessing. He is the transformed higher emotional “I”. This highly ordered love is necessary for the formation of the different bodies (Sun, Water, Air, Fire). Ilmarinen is the initiate. He seeks out the truth, as we all must do individually. These three characters appear as different individual actually describe one person. Why the Sampo does not yield to the prying of the intellect on the physical plane is because the consciousness, illuminated by the day, does not have ownership to the Sampo. This is guarded by those responsible for its safety. This land is represented as darkness. In the Kalevala this is the land of Pohjola. One of its rulers is called Louhi. This land causes much hysteria in attempts to find its location in academic studies. Geographers and archaeologists wish the place to be in Lapp-land. Much is written about this. The land in question is in fact the physical body. This land has some important citizens and animals living there. In some texts a serpent represents fire that can travel in the spine when activated. By no means is this a universal symbol. In the Kalevala this same fire is represented as Pohjola’s well behaved and reliable ox. Much speculation about the Kalevala points to the conclusion that the place of Pohjola is well endowed with women, while the location of the home of trinity lacks any women. The conclusion provided since the epic is about traveling to Pohjola in the hopes of getting married. In fact since Pohjola represents the body it is obvious why the young maiden resides there. The imagery represents the soul. The steps to forge the Sampo at Pohjola are described in Rune 10 (X). The title is Ilmarinen forges the Sampo. It is worth pointing out the objects made prior to the Sampo. The forge itself is the same alchemy term of the crucible. This is where we mix all the parts of our selves together and apply heat. The symbol of the crucible is a cross. On the first day Ilmarinen bent his body and looked at the bottom of the forge to see what was made by mixing the metals under the influence of fire. The magic fire produced a cross-bow. Bright as the moon-beams. It was a Golden-Bow with tips of Silver. On the shaft was shining Copper. Despite the bow being strong and wondrous it was ill-natured. Always seeking a hero. Ilmarinen broken the bow into pieces and placed all of them back into the forge. He requested that his workers operate the bellows. The bellows mean the lungs. The use of breathing is necessary. On the second day the bottom of the forge produced a purple boat. The ribs were gold in color. Although an object of beauty its purpose was evil. A strong desire to seek trouble and rush into combat. Ilmarinen did not trust the boat and had it destroyed. All the remains were returned to the fire. The bellows continued to operate by the workers. On the third day the forge produced a magic cow. The appearance was stunning. The horns were made of gold. On top of her head contained the bear of heaven. Her brow had a disc of sunshine. The personality was not good. This heifer enjoyed running without thinking. Waisting all her treasures. Not satisfied with this creation the cow was cut into many pieces and sent back to the fires of the forge. On the forth day what appeared at the bottom of the forge was a plow. It rose from the fire and the metals. The point was formed from gold. The beam was made of copper. The handles were made of silver. This surely was wonderful. Yet the plow felt joy destroying the fields of barley and corn. The metal smith destroys the plow to prevent further damage and places all the pieces back into the forge. At this stage Ilmarinen lets the winds attend to the bellows. These are the winds of heaven. The winds are described by the four directions. The East wind, West wind, South wind, and North wind. These winds rush, roar, cry, and howl. The winds operate for three days. A discussion of these winds would be useful. They are applied in Yoga. The rune indicates yogic procedures for the forging actually takes place in yourself. The East wind has a center in the heart. The activities of talking, singing, and the arts originate here. The West wind has a center in the anus and intestines. Nutrients from food are harvested. South wind has a center in the blood vessels. The wind is involved in the bending of the limbs and joints. The North wind has a center in the throat and controls muscle function. One the third night Ilmarinen viewed the bottom of the forge and found the Sampo rising. The lid produced the many colors. He then with his tongs removes the Sampo and uses his hammer to make the Sampo perform its functions. The Sampo when completed Grinds one measure at the break of day. Grinds a measure fit for eating, Grinds a second for the market, Grinds a third for the store house. The Sampo is placed in a stone mountain. This mountain is hidden in a hill of copper. No will be able to find the Sampo for the creation is itself hidden by nine locks. This information alluded to the necessity of coping with the parasympathetic nervous system. This involves nerve systems to 1 Stomach, 2 Duodenum, 3 Jejunum and Ileum, 4 Spleen, 5 Gallbladder, Liver, 6 Colon, 7 Pancreatic head, 8 Appendix, 9 Kidneys and Ureters. This reveals that the Sampo is tailored to the individual initiate and not to a group. Only the individual can undergo these transformations on a personal journey, struggle and effort. Thew information of how is provided in the Rune songs. The application must still rely upon the one going through the initiation. A map showing where the nerve connections from the organs are routed through the spine. Show For educational purpose only What is the message behind the boat stopped by the shoulders of a Pike? The symbology of the Pike is the impure habits ideas and thoughts picked up along the way. The initiate must purify and remove all obstacles that the thoughts produce to prevent the objectives of the initiate. The purification occurs in two directions. In the beginning from the outside moving to the inside. Second from the inside to the outside. Why is this necessary? Thought formation does not come from external sense stimuli alone. This is a stumbling problem in the philosophy of Tabula Rasa. The Wilhelm Gottfried Leibniz and John Locke exploration leaves many in doubt. The initiate; however, has no choice but ignore all these worlds and find the truth. The purification must also extend into the inner consciousness and the parts of the physical body which are not dense but invisible to eye and machines constructed by the mind. When the inner etheric world is also purified and developed then the day and night worlds can be united. This involves lifting the pike out of the water by Valinamoinen resulting in the great fish breaking into two pieces. The tail end falls back and returns to the water. By eating some of the fish’s head the brain now develops the permanent powers of the water body. This means no longer intermittent moments of insight. Now it will be on going as a permanent mental function. The purest part of the water body go into making the Kantele (Harp). By constructing the harp the water body will be used in part to make the air body. Valinamoinen himself ponders the remains of the bones after the meal and “sees” that the bones can be used to make this Kantele. The ingredients to make the Kantele are from the head and the heart. By playing this instrument the initiate becomes the conscious device through which the influence of the God head acts. Here through the sounds the influence of the divine life and consciousness will fill out and be felt among the solar system. Examples of the Kantele. Many types exist with different number of strings. The Kantele is the piece between the head and the heart. Through this air body the the initiate is able to be filled with the Holy Spirit. There is change in face. A brightness emerges and a charming effect is experienced by those in the surroundings. This occurs when the higher self becomes victorious. The words “finding yourself” have been used to describe this event. In the beginning each one of the members of the trinity attempts to play the Kantele. Of course Ilmarinen and Leminkainen both try without success. Only Valinamoinen is able to do this. Why? This trinity arrives at the location of the locks and Valinamoinen begins playing. The animals come toward the campsite and surround Valinamoinen as he fills the animal nature with goodness. The music alone is not enough to open the nine lock. It is Ilmarinen now with a unified conscious and sub conscious mind that must cooperate with the music and what Valinamoinen brings with him. This results in the actively opening of each and every one of the locks. Music with intent and preparation can then and only then achieve the awakening of the dormant psychic ethereal force centers. In order for the body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit the mind centers in these organs must be conquered. This is not an easy task. Blacksmith statue in Brussels
The origin of Fire is discussed in Rune 9 (IX). The verses provides important clues. This one in particular: “Of the mothers air is the oldest, Water is the oldest brother, And fire is second brother”. The word Air represents the beginning of thought. The emotional world is represented by Water. The word Iron is the younger brother of fire. This is obtain in the verse “Iron hastened Fire to visit, His beloved elder brother, Thus to know his brother better.” What of Iron then? Fire dwells with the Gods. This is pure reason. Iron is a close relative. Iron is lower powers of reason. It is the application of logic. Here is why Iron wants to know the older brother. Iron forged in fire experiences divine knowledge. The role of the smith is to bring the light of reason. The use of sacred fire is shown by the Prometheus myth. The word Yishai (יִשָׁ֑י ). Written as Jesse relates to fire from the sun. The term stem of Jesse indicates to be associated with the race of the sun. Therefore a distinction can be made a world based only on iron. A so called iron age lacks reason from the knowledge of the divine. All attempts are based on logic. Conclusions can only be successful if the assumptions are correct. Which cannot of course be proven. This is why logic alone is not sufficient. |
