The image above is called Yggdrasil. Devotional paintings are machines and tools for the operator. You may never consider this but your thoughts are not on the physical plane. You have contact with the higher worlds of vital (also called etheric), mental, and the astral planes. Lacking road signs, and maps will make you unaware of where you are or where you want to go, or even where you have been. Rudolf Steiner often pointed out the analogy of scientists surrounded by Chaldean cylinders was the equivalent of little children surrounded by electrical equipment. Neither groups understood what they truly possessed and had no idea how to use them. The lack of any instructions also implies a lack of what one can do with these machines. An example of a cylinder in a British museum. As a public service I would like to clarify some information that can be of service to your area of study. The topic of this blog will be to discuss the rivers of eden and how to navigate them. Below is machine called the tree of life. It can be use to navigate different states of your thoughts. It is becoming very popular in psychology research. If you examine paintings carefully you see that this image is present as a motif. The ubiquity is somewhat akin to the golden ratio. The presence of this is not obvious at first glance. The viewer has to project the pattern using the imagination. A very important clue !!!!! In other words higher levels of consciousness are required to bring the pattern into the physical realm. It is interesting that the concentration of the viewer is needed, yet it can be shown to be present in most paintings of fine art and even in nature and architecture. This is map of consciousness. The marked circles are mental states that we access in some cases without knowing. To understand this map is the journey to understand ourself. The text will make reference to this diagram. Eden Eden is a place. Actually it is a place on four worlds. These worlds are referenced on the map above as astral, etheric, mental and physical. Eden is described in the mental world as Bliss. To be in the mental state of Bliss is to be in Eden. This is a way to enter eden from the physical world. The lines connecting the circles on the two dimensional map are the paths, or ways to enter these worlds. There is a garden in Eden and it is located in the Eastern direction. This means that the location on our map is in the circle labelled Etheric. To connect the map with our body means that as the sun rises in the east we can perceive this by facing in the compass direction of East. This means if our sense of sight, smell, and voice face East. Then the backside of our body containing the spine will face in the compass direction of West. The control of our muscles come from signals in the West. This is important information if you are a Shaman, or Medical Practitioner. Remedies based on herbal preparations have the maximum benefit if prepared according to knowledge of zodiac positions and the positions of the physical body to pinpoint where in the body the illness exists. Namely Physical which on our map is directly below the Etheric body. To summarize the Etheric body is East, and the Physical body is West. The kinds of trees in the garden of eden. There are three types of trees. In the etheric world they are really three types of energy. The energy is given the group name of Gunas. The three subtypes are Sattvic Guna, Rajasic Guna, and Tamasic Guna. These subtypes provide variability in your personality. The control of the amounts of these energies create personalities as well as outcomes of our plans. Type 1 =Tree of life = Sattvic Guna = Etheric world (East) The sattvic guna provides clarity and lightness. This is the baseline for purity. It is always where we start with we try a new plan of action. Tree of life =Physical world (West), Tattwa = Air The tree of life maps to the central axis of the brain and the spinal chord down to the second lumbar vertebra. To imagine the tree consider the spinal column the branches and the cerebrum the root. Esoteric texts refer to the mountains to describe our higher consciousness. Type 2 = Tree of Good and Evil = Rajasic Guna = Etheric world (East) The rajasic guna gives us force and will. The use without restraint leads to destruction. Wise use leads to just rule of a just king. This is where pop culture gets confused. The achievement of success comes from the application of all the trees present in the garden. Restrain come from applying type 1 tree with type 2. This is like a strong rider controlling a wild horse. Tree of Good and Evil = Physical world (West) , Tattwa = Water The tree of Good and Evil is located in the spine area called the horse's tail. The latin for anatomy reference texts is Cauda Equina. The appearance of the nerves resemble a tail. The horse reference appears in many esoteric texts as the deity riding a chariot pulled by horses. Type 3 = Tree with fruit to eat = Tamasic Guan = Etheric World (East) Tamasic guna is a function of unbalance, and inertia. The purpose of this guna is to weaken the rajasic guna. The combinations of the three gunas produce our observed emotions. The gift of knowledge for the operator is by controlling the amounts of gunas a given outcome is produced. This is the source of why we use images of cauldrons, retorts, in magick and alchemy. The proper mixing of the guans by mental processes using images as a tool will produce the desired emotions. the emotions will lead to the successful plan. Tree with fruit to eat = Physical world (West), Tattwa = Fire This tree is the digestive system in the physical world. The four Rivers of Eden The 4 body concept is preserved in all worlds. Notice there are 4 worlds on the tree of life. We have four rivers that sustain four body compartments. The concept of minds in greek philosophy is 4. They are used in referencing the minds along the brain and spine in the book of revelations. Because their are four bodies there are associated four tattwas known as earth, wind, fire, and air. This means we have 4 ventricles in a heart, four compartments in a brain. I am not aware of a rule of 4 in magick. This is just a scholastic observation. One river flows from eden and branches out into four sub rivers to sustain the garden. This river in the etheric body is a rich energy field known as the prana. It bathes our mind. At this point we can describe the strategy of our various disciplines. Upward attention to heaven sustains the river. Downward attention weakens the supply of energy. This is implied in the seal of Solomon. Which in symbology is akin to a six petal lotus flower. The total number of petals in the tree of life is 52 petals as a reference. The same number of playing cards in a deck, and 52 weeks in a year. In the physical world this river is composed of spinal fluid and the river flows along the spinal column. Number 1 Pison River The name Pison means current to imply an energy. The land which this river nourishes is called Havilah. The meaning of this word is land of sand. This is to imply something precious is present. Like the rich district in Hong Kong is called Sha Tian (sand field). This is an example of an etheric concept manifesting on the physical realm. The objects in question are not real estate but two glands. They are described as Bdellium, this a gum resin that is from a fruit of a plant that grows in Africa. This is supposed to represent the pituitary gland. The second gland is referred to as a stone of Onyx. This is the pineal gland. Some books translate Bdellium as Beryl. Bdellium= Pituitary gland Onyx stone = Pineal gland Image of the source of Bdellium. This is suppose to convey that the fruit of the tree is a reference for the pituitary gland Number 2 Gihon River The name of the river means to gush or produce volumes of energy. Another name is intermittent spring. The function of this river is to provide the Tattwa known as Air to the creature. In the physical world this is known as at the heart and lungs as well as the circulatory system. There is a diaphragm at the bottom of the lungs. This is referred to as the firmament that divides the waters from the waters. in Genesis 1:6. This diaphragm divides waters composed of fire and air tattwas and earth and water tattwas. The land of Cush is associated with this river. This means the emotions of passion and desire originate here. Number 3 Hiddekel River = Tigris River = black river The energy of this river is called Saman in the etheric body. An important clue always overlooked is that this river is east of ashur or Assyria, on a map. This means the river is feeding the eastern side of the body. This river supplies the nerves controlling digestion and waste elimination. In the physical world this river feeds the third body cavity which the diaphragm separates from the second body cavity. The digestive process occurs here. This river is given the earth tattwa designation. Number 4 The Euphrates If you look at a geographic map you will notice that the Euphrates is west of the Tigris. This implies that the river supplies a west compass directed region of space. This in fact is the physical body. You will recall the physical body is in western direction. On the earth this means west by a compass sense. (Please ignore magnetic west and true west for the analogy for the ether body-physical body relationship). This river in the physical realm feeds the fourth body cavity in the pelvic area. It is the water tattwa. You will find some texts refer to this as the Great river. Another term for this river is water wheel. Two cylinders at the Louvre, Paris These cylinders end up in museums across Europe. Why is not clear. They function the same way as a great painting. A conversation is held between the viewer and the cylinder and the creator. Further reading The Middle Path The Safest by S.R. Parchment A hard to get book. This is metaphorically described as the entrance to Atlantis. On the physical world it is represented by a statue in Morocco called the pillars of Hercules. This is seen below. Cylinders and Pillars have similar shapes. The geological version physical body manifestation The artist physical manifestation
