An exercise used by Adepts. One of the techniques that is to be mastered along with other exercises before the Great Work can begin. Background Story I knew a man who did not understand the holy texts of his religion. The word Holy refers to purification of mental thoughts. It is your meditation. Your thoughts alone. This is to remove spurious musing from the mind when reading such texts. He confided in me that he and his group of enthusiasts aimed to scare a group of people into submission of the doctrines of his faith Little did he or the members realize that their source of text was merely instructions on various yoga exercises design to help the mind, spine and nervous system evolve. The Book of Revelation (The following vision described) Twenty-four Elders (originally translated as Twenty-four Ancients) were continuously casting their crowns down to the ground before God and then taking them up again. This is a description to an exercise known as the Fountain of Breath. The Elders here mean the Lords of Light and implies the solar energy of the Sun. Why is this exercise performed? To do so brings forth an energy called Chaiah. Notice the similar pronunciation in the word for energy called Qi. The word Chiah is known as life-energy of the Limitless-Light. The same light that emanates from the star on top of the tree of life. This Chaiah constitutes our higher self. The importance of this exercise is that it provides a connection to our God-Head from the conscious mind. This establishes a link to aid you in the day to day affairs. You will find that this also will improve your meditations as you grow. To perform this exercise an image of the Tree of Life must be superimposed upon the body. A previous exercise trains the operator to visually imagine all the Sephira on the Tree of Life with all the paths constructed. This image must be visualized to be seen on the body and the parts identified by imaging a color code at a moments notice for each portion of the tree. Beginners are advised to draw as well as have images of the Tree of Life in their work areas. Continue glances will aid the mind in this process. You have to see the symbols clearly to succeed in this work on yourself. The Sephira in line with the concept of the sun are described as emanations. In psychology they are associated with the attributes of personality. This shows that the label of the Sephira can be chosen at the whim of the operator to suit their needs or if they desire to align with the tradition they want to practice. This makes the Tree of Life personal. Hence it relates to your thoughts. The diagram lists the Sephira 1-10 superimposed on the physical body. In the diagram the 1 means the Crown or Kether in Hebrew. 10 means the kingdom or Malkuth in Hebrew. To begin you must shift your attention toward the Crown center known as Kether, labelled 1 in the diagram. With all your might focus your conscious thoughts on this region and start to imagine a fountain issuing forth a pure light of Great Brilliance. Next imagine this light cascading around you in all directions so as to envelop you and form a large pool at your feet. This light will enter the center location labelled 10. This of course is known as Malkuth. During the attention at Kether exhale breath for a count of four [1...2...3...4...5]. The count will be different when you consider the sephira at your feet. During the attention when focused on Malkuth give a count of two [1...2]. The process repeats but the focus is on the other sephira. This time with an inhaled breath with a count of four imagine that a white light emanating from the bottom of Malkuth, labelled 10, begins to issue forth the colors of the rainbow. This is a return path of the light. Imagine the white light being dispersed in the physical body where the kingdom resides. Allow for this multicolored light to travel slowly up from Malkuth at 10, along the bold face vertical line representing the spinal column. The next sephira to receive graciously this gift is Foundation or Yesod labelled 9. After this the next level is Beauty, or Tiphereth, labelled 6 and corresponds to the solar plexus. The next destination of this rainbow is at the throat region. Not numbered but is called Daath and refers to the Tree of knowledge. To complete the cycle allow the rainbow to enter to the Kether, or Crown. Apply your focus here and add a further count of two [1...2]. With the next exhalation the process repeats starting with the white light emanating at the crown. It is recommended to perform 10 cycles. Further Reading The Art of True Healing by Israel Regardie
