The activities that can be constructed among the three planes of spiritual, mental, and body will enable a condition known as Magic to occur. This can be concluded from the previous post entitled: What is Divination? Therefore the Tarot is a system where Magic can be performed by the operator if the ability to work upon these three planes is understood. The tools involve colors, sounds, smells, vibrations, and words. The rules can be obtained from examining the Tarot. Magic itself employs a sequence of images to achieve a desired result. The writer Jacob Boehme wrote a description of Magic in his six mystical points. Briefly he describes how desire is satisfied by spirit. Magic is the mother of eternity, of the being of all beings; for it creates itself, and is understood in desire. It is in itself nothing but will, and this will is the great mystery of all wonders and secrets, but brings itself by the imagination of the desireful hunger into being...He further on describes a purer form of magic. True Magic is not a being, but the desiring spirit of the being. It is a matrix without substance, but manifests itself in the substantial being. Magic is spirit and being is its body; and yet the two are but one, as body and soul is but one person. Magic is the greatest secrecy, for it is above Nature, and makes Nature after the form of its will. It is, in fact, the mystery of the Trinity. Boheme uses the word Ternary. He points out that nature is used, in cooperation to manifest this three-fold aspect. Further reading Six Mystical Points by Jacob Boheme This desire allows itself to be introduced into the dark nature. This is achieved by the element of fire. The will. This results in entering into the light of Majesty. This aspect written by Boheme help to explain the meaning of the imagery used in tarot key 16, known as the tower. Boheme reminds the reader that imagination is gentle and soft. This is like water. Desire however is dry and harsh. In Tarot of the Bohemians. The author Papus proposes three structural sentences based upon the following ciphers: God The Father, God The Holy Spirit, and God The Son. These ciphers relate to a sequence of Tarot images from the major arcana. They are based upon the divine name of four letter Hebrew characters (יהוה) . Each of these four characters describes a world of the body. The material of the body is derived from the elements of Fire, Water, Air, Earth. These elements are also the named regions of the celestial sphere. The structure of the mind, the components of a thought, and the internal workings of the body are based upon the organization of the sphere. This means mind, thoughts, and thought processes, physiology, and nature are described by the same elements. The Tarot, by way of the art work, actually describes how spirit descends into matter to execute will. This direction and method is called Involution. The Tarot also describes how matter ascends into spirit. This is called Evolution by occultists. From the first cipher the element are derived from God the Father as A= Adam, B = Nature, C = Will, D = Power, E = Creative Power. element [A] Adam the Father emanants two elements element 1 Realization Creative Principle Passive Tarot key 7 The Chariot element 2 Astral Light Creative Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 7 The Chariot Element [B] Nature Nature Creative Principle Passive Tarot key 1 element 1 Death Creative Principle Passive Tarot key 13 Death element 2 Plastic Force Creative Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 13 Death Element [C] Will Creative Principle Active Will Tarot key 4 Emperor element 1 Necessity Creative Principle Active Tarot key 10 Wheel of Fortune element 2 Destruction Creative Principle Active Tarot key 16 Tower Element [D] Power Creative Principle Passive Power element 1 Magic Power Creative Principle Passive Tarot key 10 The Wheel of Fortune element 2 Creative Principle Passive Fall of Adam Tarot key 16 The Tower Element [E] Creative Fluid Creative Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 4 The Emperor element 1 Manifest Force Creative Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 10 Wheel of Fortune element 2 Visible World Creative Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 16 The Tower The cipher entitled God the son has the following elements: A = Eve, B = Nature, C Intelligence, D = Authority, E = Universal Life God The Son Preserving Principle Action Tarot key 2 The High Priestess Eve the Mother 'Element [A] Eve Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 2 The High Priestess The Mother Preserving Principle Active Tarot key 8 Strength (8 Waite, 11 Marseille) element 1 Justice Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 8 Strength element 2 Elementary Existence Preserving Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 8 Strength Element [B] Nature Involution Tarot key 14 Temperance Preserving Principle Active element 1 Corporeal Life Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 14 Temperance element 2 Individual Life Preserving Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 14 Temperance Element [C] Intelligence Intelligence key 5 Hierophant Preserving Principle Active element 1 Liberty Preserving Principle Active key 11 Justice (11 Waite Justice, 8 Marseille) element 2 Immortality Preserving Principle Active key 17 The Stars Element [D] Authority Authority Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 5 Hierophant element 1 Courage Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 11 Justice (11 Waite, 8 Marseille) element 2 Hope Preserving Principle Passive Tarot key 17 The Stars Element [E] Universal Life Preserving Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 5 Hierophant element 1 Reflected and Transitory Life Preserving Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 11 Justice (11 Waite, 8 Marseille) element 2 Physical Forces Preserving Principle Equilibrium Tarot key 17 The Stars The third cipher entitled God the holy spirit contains the elements A = Adam-Eve, B = Kosmos, C Beauty, D = Love, E = Universal Attraction. One interpretation is not sufficient. This rather abstract discourse is a reminder that in order to manifest the operator must work within all three planes. These worlds of seemingly inertness are only so because the ability to work with them consciously lies dormant. we used them frequently yet seduce ourselves into believing only the sensations from the physical world are all that should be considered. That means in order for the tarot system to be correctly employed the process of manifestation ought to be used on association with each of the images. A cipher was employed in the Hymn for Saint John The Baptist. The latin text is below: lUT quant lixid REsonare fibris MIra gestorum FAmuli quorum SOLve polluit LAbil reatum sanctae johannes. The UT is used for an ascending tone devised By Paul Diacre. These lyrics are composed in Hermetic form. To connect with the mind. The frequency of each pitch relates to a planet name. If the esoteric nature of the lyrics were understood. The planets used in thinking serve as a vehicle of knowledge hidden in the pitches that create the melody. This is where sigil and prayers are used for an outcome that is not made apparent to the ritual process the intent is veiled from view. Consider the following proscription. UT = Uterus, born of woman Do = God. The absolute manifest. The central sun. In latin the word Dominus can be directly transcribed to a musical frequency. Si = Starry sky. These are the nerves in the body. It is referred to in latin as SIderus orbis. LA = Our great world, the Milky Way. The LActeus orbis. FA = The Planetary world. FAtum destiny MI = Earth. The place we build upon. MIxtus orbis RE = The Moon. The nervous system dwells here. The psyche operates on the moon. REgina astris The three variables for the Hanging man are defined as The Preserving Principle. The three forces are active, passive, and equilibrating. These three quantities are defined by the following words: 1 Preserving Principle Active: Charity 2 Preserving Principle Passive: Wisdom, Hope 3 Preserving Principle Equilibrium: Equilibrating Force The Creative Principle is reserved for tarot keys 1,4,7,10, 13, 16, and 19. The Tarot numbers are partitioned into groups of three. This is the application of the law of three. They impose the three fold aspect of the trinity onto the number system. The information for future tarot images are contained in previous images. The first four tarot keys 1,2,3,4 spell [ s-p-e-l-l ] out the divine name in art. The divine name (יהוה) is written in hebrew in right to left form as Yod-Hei-Vav-Hei. The images above are presented left to right. The Magician is the visual representation of yod (י). This particular letter and image refers to a specific force of creation. It is a masculine and therefore a creative active force. This force can only operate in a passive environment. This is denoted as feminine. In hermetic operations there are two types of variables. One is called gender and can have one of two possible numerical values denoted as masculine or male, and feminine, or female. These do not refer to people, but to forces of nature. The second class of variable is called polarity and is distinct from gender. The values possible for polarity are three and these include: Positive, Negative, and Neutral. Writers describe the neutral force as neutralized, neutered, or equilibrium. The last description implies a state where the positive and negative forces are equal in magnitude, but operate in opposing directions. The Marseille deck requires knowledge of how the images are arranged in space. They reveal further information. The first two forces of creative active and creative passive must occur in order for the divine name formula to be carried out successfully. If the Juggler (Magician) is placed to the right of the (Popess, High Priestess) a doorway is revealed. A line of sight is represented showing where the Juggler is looking. This is revealed to be a triangular region marked by two solar crosses just above the book of the law. The region indicates the hei (ה) following the yod. The arrangement of these two keys agrees with order of the Hebrew letters in the divine name. In addition the arrangement of the figures in the images tells information that needs to be brought out by the viewer. The key of the Juggler is associated with Mercury and the key of the Popess is the Moon. Although there are two hei's (ה) they are not equal to each other. The value differs by the placement in the sentence. This is revealed by the gender of key 4 lab, labelled as The Emperor. The gender of the Empress and Emperor are reversed in the first two cards. That of the Juggler and the Popess follow the values of gender Male, Female. Taken together the values for keys 1,2,3,and 4 are Male, Female, Female Male. There exists a mirror plane between keys 2 and 3. The Empress key 3 is assigned the Hebrew letter Vav (ו). It is a force of initiation, but differs from that used by the Juggler. This is why the force is designated as Passive active. The Emperor is assigned the Hebrew letter Hei (ה). This second Hei is not the same as the first Hei. The second Hei contains within itself a seed. This is necessary to carry on the line of forces from spirit into matter. The image of the Emperor attempts to mirror the Empress key. Notice how the wings differ on the shield of the Emperor compared to that of the shield of the Empress. The symbols relate to breathing and ultimately the conditions of soul and spirit for they depend on their entry into matter through breath. The generative power is shown by the inverted scepters of Venus. Another alchemy symbol besides venus is present in key 4. The figure sitting with a leg crossed resembles the alchemy symbol of Jupiter. Unlike Jupiter the symbol of Venus is unique in that all the sephiroth on a tree of life diagram are included on the symbol. The Jupiter symbol involves a crescent moon and a cross as the symbol itself is made from two additional elements. While we are on the subject the image of venus can be constructed by two crescent moons opposing each other. That means they are related by an inversion center. Once constructed the resulting circle is joined to a cross. If the resulting circle is given a dot at the inversion center and no cross added it is the alchemical symbol of sun. Just as tarot images are keys for locks so are the alchemy symbols. They really are keys for locks. The functioning of the divine name can be understood through the Shiva temple. The temple contains a three fold structure devised upon the divine name. The realm of existence occurs where Involution and Evolution meet. The flow of spirit into matter and matter into spirit will produce an equilibrium plane. This is called existence. The manifestation of spirit intro matter is also described as the fall of Adam. This Adam is in the spiritual heavenly world originally. The embarkation into the matter involves the receiving of earth. This is a gain in weight and results in a fall. The inclusion of earthly matters such as organization, planning with details. Remember a tarot image if it is to have an influence must be provided with three meanings by the operator. The Creative Principle values for active is Destruction, passive is the fall of adam, equilibrium is the visible world. Numbers 1. 2. 3. -- 4. 5. 6. -- 7. 8. 9. -- etc. Hebrew (י) (ה) (ו) (ה) (י) (ה) (ו) (ה) (י) -- etc. Letters I E V -- E I E -- V E I -- etc. The sequence for the trinity demands that the numbers be arranged into a collection of three. That means the next yod will not occur until the Hierophant or pope key 5 (Roman numeral V), Subsequently the next yod with be the Hermit key 9. This is why the head of the Hermit represents a yod, The remaining yod keys will be Death, key 13, and The Stars, 17. The Fool key with the numerical value of 0 is the source of all emanations. By placing the fool at the origin of a coordinate system it will be revealed why this image is assigned the value of the origin at zero. The map of both the physical body and as a result the celestial map of the heavens demonstrates why the Tarot imagery must be linked to the stars. The astral body cannot motivate the physical body if the connection is broken. In order to emphasize the power of three. The sphere drawn above contains three meridian lines. They are arranged by the Major Arcana as follows. From left to right, and finally to center is the count. Region 1 (Left) The Magician, Region 2 (Right) The High Priestess, Region 3 (Center of diagram) The Empress, Region 4 (Left)The Emperor, Region 5 (Right) The Hierophant, Region 6 (Center) The Lovers, Region 7 (Left) The Chariot, Region 8 (Right) Strength, Region 9 (Center) The Hermit, Region 10 (Left) Wheel of Fortune, Region (Right Justice 11, Region 12 (Center) The Hanged Man [Described as Sacrificed], Region 13 (Right) Death, Region 14 (left) Temperance, Region 15 (Center) Devil [Described as Typhon], Region 16 (Right) The Tower, Region 17 (Left) The Stars, Region 18 (Center) The Moon [Described as Twilight], Region 19 (Right) The Sun, Region (Left) 20 Judgement, Region 21 (Center) The World [Described as The Crown. You can lines reflecting planes through this sphere. The region of the Hanged Man is where the equator can be assigned. The volume encompassing regions 1,2, and 3 become the metaphysic continent. The larger volume below defined by 4,5, and 6 is where intelligence and morality function. The volume below the equator marked by 7,8, and 13, etc is where the generated power of the elements work. The source of creation is on the equator and this involves 9, 10, and 12. The training of the Neophyte. The images of the Tarot serve more than just understanding the structure of mind body soul and spirit. They are also used in the study of attainment. The Neophyte must undergo a series of tasks on the way to become an adept. Step one involves the study of the positive science, magnetism, and alchemy. This includes keys 9, 10, and 12. A journey must be undertaken into the sublunary world. This is found in keys 13, 14, and 15. Then just as describe in Dante's divine comedy the Neophyte journeys to the solar system. This is made possible by keys 16, 17, and 18. At this point decorporealization is achieved by an escape to the abyss by way of the sun. This is outlined by keys 19, 20, and 21. Here the creature represented by key 10 returns to the spirit. This is located on our map by the southern pole, key 21. The description of the ring interacting with the sphere will be discussed in a later article. The origin of this ringed Tarot system is the crocodile. This comes about as the guide to the fool key is represented by different animals. In the Egyptian planisphere the celestial map has a crocodile right beside the back of the mother of the cosmos. The Hermetic tarot deck and the Egyptian Tarot deck includes the crocodile in the Fool key.
