How does a Monkey portrayed in a yearly festive parade along the mediterranean end up having its image also being carved into the dry earth in a plain located inside Peru? Sounds like a plot for an excellent story. Why is the drawing of a Monkey so important among many cultures? In the springtime a ceremony to release ships is performed beside the mediterranean coastal areas. This occurs after a winter season of frozen waterways. The date corresponds to when the moon is found to be located at the foot of the constellation of virgo, in the eastern sky. This astrological observation is when spring is to commence. Part of the festivities involves a procession of a tame bear dressed up to look like a lady. The well dressed bear is carried upon a litter. Next in order of appearance is that of a monkey, dressed up in a cloth cap and a Phyrgian dress to resemble the cup bearer Ganymede. In its paws the monkey holds a golden cup. Lastly a donkey appears, adorned with wings and lead by a elder with a lame gait. The event is hosted by a Goddess. The description of the procession comes from the neighboring constellations at the beginning of spring. The monkey comes from a portion of the Great Bear constellation. This is the Ursa Major constellation. The golden cup represents the constellation of the krater. The donkey is derived from the constellation of Pegasus. Following the procession women would appear with flowers in their hair. They would scatter flowers as they walked onto the street. A group of women held mirrors behind them to render homage to the Goddess as she advanced in the parade. A group carried ivory combs. Perfumes were sprinkled upon the street. We are told torches, and candles were part of this event. They represented the stars in the sky. A band provided music. The storms of winter will lose their force. This calms the seas and allows boats to travel safely. In the city of Corinth a sun rise could be experienced with a golden hue. People normally inside come out and begin walking. The sounds of the animals silent from the winter fill the air with joy. Those who presided over the sacred rites walked in the procession next and are dressed according to the following description: The First exhibited a lamp shining with a clear light, not resembling those lamps of ours which illuminate nocturnal banquets ; but it was a golden boat-cup, which emitted a larger flame from an aperture in the middle. The Second was clothed in a similar manner, but carried in both his hands the altars to which the auxiliary providence of the supreme Goddess gave a proper name. The altars symbolize the aid afforded by the deity. The Third proceeded raising a palm tree, the leaves of which were subtilely gilt, and also of Mercurial caduceus. The Fourth exhibited the symbol of Equity. This is described as the left hand fashioned with a palm. The right hand held a golden vessel containing milk. The Fifth carries a golden corn shaped fan. When expanded the fan resembles several branches that are shiny in the sun. The Sixth carries an amphora. [In the next place, without delay, the images of the Gods [carried by the priests of Isis] proceeded, not disdaining to walk with the feet of men; this terrifically raising a canine head; but that being the messenger of the supernaI Gods, and of those in the realms beneath, with an erect face, partly black, and partly of a golden coIour, bearing in his left hand a caduceus, and shaking in his right hand branches of the flourishing palm tree; whose footsteps a cow, in an erect position, immediately followed. This cow was the prolific resemblance of the all-parent Goddess, and was carried on the shoulders of one of the blessed servants of this divinity, and who acted the part of a mimic as he walked. Another carried a cista, or chest, containing arcana, and perfectly concealing the mystic symbols of a magnificent religion. And another bore in his happy bosom the venerable effigies of the supreme divinity, which was not similar to any cattle, or bird, or wild beast nor even to man; but being venerable for the subtilty by which it was invented, and also for its novelty, was an ineffable indication of a more sublime religion, and which was to be concealed in the greatest silence. But this effigies was fashioned after the following manner : there was a small urn, formed of splendid gold, most artificially excavated, the bottom of which was very round, and which was externally engraven with the admirable images of the Egyptians.] From The Metamorphosis of Apuleius Book 1. In Latin the release of ships was called navigium Isidis. This was celebrated on March 5. The Greek name for this event is Ploiaphesia. This event was held in honor for the Goddess Ίσις . Her name in Egypt is known as Auset, Aset, and Iset. The name Auset is still used in Europe. The animals in the precession also are poetic descriptions of physiology and hence ways to operate the higher centers of the mind. The monkey, who wears a cap, plays a very important part in our discussions. So if you are at all curious on what a Phyrgian cap looks like you can view the bas relief above. The figure on the left, in front of the eagle, is called Ganymede. This figure serves the gods as the cup bearer. Such and honor will involve air. The word Phyrgia written in (Φρυγία), deserves special mention as the cap makes its appearance in the Zoroasterian Mithra divinity of light. The cap can also be seen in a painting by Eugene Delacroix called Marianne. The image of the hat is part of a mystic rite. Exoteric circles regard the hat as a representation of Freedom. The cap itself holds a great deal of consideration. We ignore the hidden meaning behind circumcision. Thinking of an act, yet not realizing this has more to do with freeing your mind rather than staying in sleep. To be a sheep is not advantageous. The lamb refers to an organ of the heart. The information in these articles provide knowledge few sources are providing their readers. A question needs to be raised how did Maria Reiche understand that the beautiful picture of a monkey in Nazca was related to the constellation called Ursa Major? The figures made by removing earth from the surface of a region of Peru provides knowledge of how your mind actually works. Pictures of a monkey, spider, and dog when employed along with the lines and geometric figures reveal the mapping of specific nerve clusters in the physical body that interact with the organs and systems displayed in art form. The application of the paranatellons was not limited to one portion of the world. All cultures, and all societies held this knowledge. Despite this few discussions are available to illustrate how the constellation of Ursa Major can in turn be described by broken up into four constellations comprising a Monkey, or Ape, A Hippopotamus, a Lion, and a Crocodile. Please read The Four Genii for additional information on what these images mean and how their roles play out in altar + stage designs. The same monkey in the Roman festival of Navigium Isidis came from the Ursa Major constellation. The physiological function is an underlying feature. It has become a bad habit to illustrate comparative information in different cultures and not close the gap with medical knowledge of the portions of the body that they relate. The sky images produced from the dance performed by constellations by helical rise and fall would make far interesting reading than portraying the art works observed in the Nazca and Ingenio valleys of Peru. The map above reveals several entities. Some of them are identified as animals and insects. Our Monkey appears at the extreme left, beside the dog. The oxidized rock 10 cm in thickness is cleared away revealing white top soil. Despite the strong winds the images are preserved from the effects of the wind The formation of the monkey in the northern sky comes about by considering The constellations Leo Major, Leo Minor, Canes Venatici, and Ursa Major. These are the building blocks of the Monkey paranatellon. The head comes from a star in Canes Venatici. The cross arms are from the stars of Ursa Major. These include Phekda, Megrez, Alioth, and Minzar. The familiar dipper container. The Tail of the Monkey is composed from the two lions. The image of the monkey was also known in very early Egypt. The basis for the four figures of human, lion, eagle, and bull come from the same paranatellon. The Monkey is associated with the element Air and the esoteric body direction called East. The lungs are but a portion of the Monkey picture. One organ is not thought of. This is the airway. The many nerves that provide method to the movement are not considered. To make headway into this knowledge requires understanding the parts of You. An introduction to the nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, the gases, the water vapor, the mixture we call air. The use of Air is of no accident. Our breath is related to the soul. Breathing is very important. The misunderstanding in alchemy of opposites comes from the observation that a substance in air and a substance in water interacts with the body. The images of Nazca are part of a Mystery. That is the sealed knowledge of life. By unsealing the this information you will learn how your mind works. The images and various drawings are the tools to psychology. This place is not a landing field for space craft. The plains provide a dynamic structure to your body. To learn the meaning of the lines and spirals is to learn of advanced performance. The use of dance must be combined with the patterns of breath. A useful text, sadly out of print. The title is The Religions of Profane Antiquity; Their Mythology, Fables, Hieroglyphics and Doctrines. Founded on Astronomical Principles. Author Jonathan Duncan, B. A. Year Published 1840. Anyone reading the articles may desire to request that this book be made more accessible as the information contained within is sorely lacking in these important times. Advances in learning esoteric literature requires knowledge of how the pictures formed in the sky describe processes of yourself, and your mind. The paranatellons differ from the deacans in that these structures require knowledge of both the horizon and the zodiac. In fact observation verses understanding of behavior of the paranatellons points out the problems of accepting Maya at face value. All the stars rise, ascend to the meridian, and descend below the horizon daily, except some stars that are closer to the poles. The apparent movements are classed into three types. These are cosmical, heliacal, and acronycal. The star is classed upon when it sets or rises respect to the sun. Data taken through several millions of years is available for some stars. This is the case for Sirius. These movements allow the constellations to move with respect to each other. A star map provides static images. With imagination it is possible to represent how additional images can be envisioned. In principle the idea will be presented. To make the example easier to work with the monkey will be viewed from the backbone of the monkey. To understand how these images leads to unlocking the hidden meaning of the Journey of Isis as the deity is the full moon transiting a particular house of the zodiac. The journey of the moon in 1 year encounters a host of images. This really involves activation of organs in the body. The Osiris-Seth story is a process for the adepts. The names themselves represent forces that are involved in us. The dream world drives the assumption that these carvings and paintings depicting Horus through the ages from child to adult are foreign to the reader. The drama read from the star motion are actually the functioning and interplay of the various organs of the physical body. The strong desire to separate subjects prevents the academics from realizing how important Mythology is when taken alongside Medical research and astrology. Today even the Yoga practitioner along with the physicist is looking into the study of the Mind. What a weather calendar to some reveals can be understood from psychology. The Middle Ages of Europe described the emotions that affect us in terms of climate. A container of a humor, located in the cerebrum, is squeezed slightly to release some of its contents. The fluid released travels along the winds. The word wind refers to nerves involved in signaling what will become our passions and feelings. The concept of climate changing is how we control ourselves. The information on how the star patterns can be derived is available. It is even possible to represent the image by a computer program. There has been no attempt to do so as of yet. This is unusual as having the sky images explained from the the point of view of the parade members will aid in understanding the exercise movements employed. The exoteric presentation in the ceremony may seem comical yet it is valuable information to the initiate in order to proceed with the inner mysteries. The true meaning of inner is the events within the physical body. Try to use a software called Stellarium. It allows the sky to be viewed at different times. A simulation of the night sky. website: http://stellarium.org/ Stellarium Four Spirals have been noter so far. The backbone is in the northern direction.
Further Reading The Metamorphosis (Golden Ass) by Apuleius Another copy of The Metamorphosis (Golden Ass) by Apuleius The Epiphany of Isis from the Golden Ass by Apuleius Experts will continue to argue what the Metamorphosis is about until it is realized that the author is describing his initiation into the sacred Eleusinian Mysteries held in Greece. Notice this important clue in the eleventh book. The passage connects the elements and the concept that the forces of nature, represented by deities, transform into one another. [I who am Nature, the parent of things, the queen of all the elements, the primordial progeny of ages, the resemblance of gods and goddesses.] This is followed by a passing remark to the Egyptian rites. [The Phrygians call me Pessinuntica.....and the Eleusinians, the ancient Goddess Ceres....the Ethiopians, the Arii......and the Egyptians skilled in ancient learning, worshipping me by ceremonies perfectly appropriate, called me by my true name, Queen Isis.] The prime importance of the initiation experience is the cycle of voluntary transformation followed by rebirth. The desire to make the change comes from within. Those not interested will view the text differently their impressions will be of a comedy or of a weird story where the ending has no correlation with the plot. On the other hand the initiate repeats what Persephone has to do at rebirth in the spring upon her return from under the Earth. This is the so called underworld, the land of the sacral plexus. This reference is to our sleeping selves. The gift of the ceremony is the control of the elements. "I saw the Sun shining at midnight with a radiant light." A further analysis of the midnight sun At midnight I saw the sun shining with a splendid light." The midnight sun was also part of the mystery of alchemy. This symbolizes the spirit in man shining through the darkness of his human organisms. With spiritual site the spiritual sun can now be observed. The mystic could see as well at midnight as at high noon, the material earth bring powerless to obstruct the rays of this Divine orb. The ability to see spiritual events with spiritual eyes is not achieved in the sleeping state of the mechanical mind. This is exemplified in the article "Seeing God" by David Bentley Hart, 2013.
